Didn't notice the Quake, but
CT didn't make out that bad. About 8in of rain and lots of wind. About 500K people without power and flooding. Governor was saying maybe up to 5 days before power is restored. *Really* glad I kept power! Some aerial recon shots from last night. CT River still hasn't crested yet.

Didn't notice the Quake, but
Lots of rain already here in CT and winds picking up. Forecast predicts hurricane will make landfall on western side of state...and being on the eastern side of a hurricane once it makes landfall is apparently bad...

Didn't notice the Quake, but
The gutter attachment for my shopvac (hopefully) has my gutters in good shape now. Everything that can blow away is stashed in the shed. Now we wait. I doubled up on tie down straps on the plane, topped off the fuel tanks to max out the weight, cinched all the tie downs tight and snugged down the cover. I'm hoping it looks *just* like this on Monday...

It's been a long time
I thought this was a reference to the Cake song... "it's been a long time...since we drove your Pontiac"

Didn't notice the Quake, but
I was in Manhattan during the earthquake on the 12th floor of a building near grand central and never felt a thing. This hurricane though...my plane is a sitting duck out on the ramp at the airport...really hoping nothing bad happens to it. Going out to "extra" secure it tomorrow morning. Interestingly, each time a politician comes for New England, mother nature sends a natural disaster after them. Sarah Palin comes to Springfield, MA and a freak tornado levels the place. Barack Obama vacations on Martha's Vineyard and a hurricane heads straight up the coast toward the Vineyard. Coincidence??

"Chrome-clad" wheels
Checking out the GMC lot, I noticed many of the new Sierra's come with "chrome-clad aluminum wheels" which looked like a steel wheel (based on where the rim meets the tire) with a Chrome-plated plastic cover. The 17"s are still cast aluminum, but all the 18s seem to have these plastic wheels. What's the buyer advantage?

1962 Chevy Nova 2dr HT WAGON
LS1 draws a lot of attention for being unique in a car this old, so I wanted to make it a bit more finished. I'm not sure if these are my permanent solution, but they cleaned up the motor appearance. Now if I go with another type of fuel rail cover I have a template for what types of cuts I'd need to make. I liked those vintage looking Corvette covers, but they seem to be out of production now.

1962 Chevy Nova 2dr HT WAGON
Made my first modification to the Novamad today. Not quite done, but it's progress. The purchase: Before modification: After modification: I need to clean up the motor now (flash made it look worse than it is) and fine tune some of the cuts I had to make in the LH cover to clear the fuel line, but the basics are done.

7th Annual Ground Up Car Show
I looked at that Vega. It was a Cosworth COPO. Was kind of interesting. Was it COPO because it was Cosworth or in addition to I've Googled and cant find reference to COPO Vegas and don't recall them(sometimers getting me) I always had a soft spot for Vegas remembered those high HP claims back in 71 for the Cosworth. The Vega(2bbl) & Camaro(307cid 2bbl) had the same HP both 110 like my beloved Corvairs. Vegas responded well to little tuning and if ya put an Opel GT 4spd in the Saginaw 3spd cars they'd cook to 45mph. Not sure. I just saw the dog dish hubcaps and the COPO badging.

Did you ever solve your center cap issue? I noticed while reading my C&D magazine that Tire Rack is carrying Enkei Classic's...wondered if those might be the wheels on your wagon. If so, may be able to order new center caps. Link

I think I'm going to make this year the year...
How 'bout a modern car that you could use now and hold on to that might become interesting as it ages? I have to liquidate several cars for my dad's estate, one of which is a 2007 Pontiac G6 hardtop convertible. 40K miles with about a year left on the GM CPO warranty. Silver with black leather.
