Burlapp: Insignia=Chinese LaCrosse but not NA one
According to Vince Burlapp's Car Page, the new Chinese Buick LaCrosse will basically be a rebadged Opel Insignia. (I tried to post a link but it wouldn't accept it, and tried to link to the photo but it didn't work.) So to read his information and see his picture, please go to burlappcars.com and look for the Wed., 6/25/08 story titled "Chinese Buick La Crosse." Burlapp states that the photo is what China gets but not what the U.S. will get. I thought with globalization that the Chinese and NA Buick product would be exactly the same. Is it possible that Burlapp is wrong, that the camouflaged picture hides the sweepspear line and other niceities of the Invicta Concept? Also, if China Buick is continuing to have a LaCrosse in their line-up, does that mean that NA will retain the LaCrosse name?

GM may kill another brand , did anybody say Pontiac? Also delays GMT 900 replacements.
How did they react when you presented your idea about making Pontiac similar to Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) of NA?

I know that you stated things are volatile, but has there been any discussion of shutting down both GMC and Pontiac?

But if Saturn sales have declined, even with a completely new line-up, why not shut down Saturn, then give the Opel product to Pontiac? It solves having a role for Pontiac to play, since, as you say, it's been stripped of its performance image within GM.

RWD Buick isn't dead
Hope so. I also hope that a delay, if any, would be minimal.

LA Times: "Shareholders blast pay of GM chief executive"
Errr, how about the Europeans? I'm surprised Buickman (Jim Dollinger) wasn't quoted in the story.

WSJ: GM Shifts Its Strategy Into Reverse
The composition of that photo of Mr. Dollinger is interesting: taken from angle, showing a depth between him and Mr. Wagoner, with Mr. Wagoner out-of-focus and leaning (ducking?) to his right.

GM announces big changes to deal with higher gas prices
I know what I think and I know that the results were mentioned on other websites. I also noticed that you didn't mention the outcome, but took the time to quote the proxy.

Were those items approved or defeated?

Can she and would she hang on until the stylish Buick Invicta comes out?

GM announces big changes to deal with higher gas prices
If it comes down to it, does GM have money to buy-out stand-alone Hummer dealers?

Say tata (goodbye), Hummer!

While I personally have zero interest in their website, The Truth About Cars is stating that Hummer is (all but) killed. Click here for the story.

GM Officially Cancels Zeta Buick
So tell us... oh, great swami... is there more product coming for Buick, even if it isn't a large RWD sedan (since the market has, in general, moved away from such vehicles)? Buicks can come in all sizes, body styles, and drivetrains - if GM is interested. Or are they too busy creating the GM Europe "Driving Conversations" Blog?

Jerry Flint on Saturn: Why No Blastoff?
Do you believe that Saturn has potential? Some thought it would be easy, to just sell Opels in the US rebadged as Saturns. Here's what Jerry Flint thinks, as posted to Forbes.com - click here

Buick Bolero??
If you follow the posts here closely (and I know you do), then you should know as much about this as they do. This is speculation on their part. For example, did you notice that they said, to the effect of, they are calling it the "Buick Bolero," because they don't think Buick would use the Excelle name. But there's no indication that "Bolero" would be the name. So to this "Consumer Guide" report, I say "Buick Baloney."

W-Body to live into 2012?
I noticed that someone said that the LaCrosse W-body will also soldier on until 2012. Is that correct? If so, that would seem to me to insure that the new Epsilon II will be called "Invicta." [ EDIT ] Car and Driver is where it said about the LaCrosse. here

Buick Gallery
1938 and 1939? I sure like big band music from those years, but (while they're nice) they aren't my favorite years for Buicks. I think, as an entire model line, I'd have to say 1965 is my ideal. Or 1963. Or 1967. Or < goes on and on >.....
