Police Cars
This is a really cool thread with alot of great posts. I've always had an interest in police cars. I guess because I am always looking for them when I'm driving. The Chargers are my favorite. I was in Chicagoland recently and noticed that one of the suburbs (Oak Lawn or Oak Park) has a Hummer H2 police car. They got it from a drug bust and coverted it into a cop car. In the early 90's, the Chicago suburb of Winfield had Buick Centuries and Regals as their squad cars. I was watching Speeders on TruTV and noticed that many forces are using the 2wd Tahoes. I also noticed that one of the units in Florida has an unmarked Ford Super Duty. That was a surprise.

Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate the U.S. on a world map.

On BBC America
People who do this actually volunteered for a show speaking of their fetish? That's very risky. Hmmm, sort of gives a new meaning to sex ofFENDER. I think they are having sex with other parts of the car besides the fender.

OH MY GOD
I just disagree with this because I just don't judge people about stuff like that because I know there are people who have food addictions that they suffer with. I also know that many of these ready made foods come with fillers that make people fatter. I am very tall, work out for two hours a day, 1 hr cardio, 1 hr weight training, and when I see someone who is obese or overweight I feel sorry for them. In my belief, it's not my place to judge someone because I don't know their whole story. Hell, many people are not educated regarding nutrition so they just flat don't know what to eat that will make them feel good, and many do not know how to lose weight, or have the money to have somone teach them. It's really sad. It's really none of my business what people do with their health. I just try to see them as people first and all this other crap is not an issue if they are a good hearted person. The same goes for smokers, ugly people, or any other habit that is not pleasing to the eye. Thankfully this is America and you have a right to your opinion and feelings. But the fat people have a right to over eat and under exercise, just like smokers have the right to smoke, and ugly people have the right to exist. The reason I find this thread disappointing to me is that it is another reminder to me of the disrespect and continued shallow judgemental nature of people that just seems to be worse and worse.

I'm having a hard time
Its easier to give up when times are tough, especially with something you are attached with emotionally. One of the first defense mechanisms is to get rid of it because it causes stress in our lives. It's completely understandable. This is why fair weather fans are so common. The true fans stand by their company, country, and hell, their sports team.

General Motors reportedly approves Cadillac Converj for production
Definitely Electra. I think the Converj production model, if it happens, will not be a coupe (at first), it'll be a sedan. A wagon would be cool, too. Hmmm

Yaris, Fit - Poor head on crash tests
The difference in the crash tests that began this thread is that they are actually crashing two cars of different sizes. In the crash tests that you have listed in your posts in this thread, each crash test was performed with one vehicle hitting a wall, or a vehicle of similar size. This just means that it gets a good rating when involved in crashes with vehicles of similar size and weight. That test becomes useless when cars of different size and weight are involved in a collision. At that point, the ratings mean nothing.

Yaris, Fit - Poor head on crash tests
No worries Camino, my post was not in reference to yours, but the whole thread made me think about the last accident I was in with the Avalanche, and I thought I'd post how it changed how I shop for cars. You know, sort of a healing process since I still have some anxiety over it when driving.
-
Yaris, Fit - Poor head on crash tests
Since I had the wreck with the Avalanche, the importance of safety feaures has expanded. Curtain airbags and a strong roof structure saved my life in that accident. I will never own a car without curtain air bags and side impact air bags now. I also will not own a vehicle without Stabilitrak/AdvanceTrac/ESP whatever the buzzword is. Also since the accident, I prefer a better handling vehicle with more stability. The Avalanche rolled over far easier than I think the Acadia would in the same situation, however, you cannot beat the laws of physics, once you break the threshold you are just along for the ride.

Yaris, Fit - Poor head on crash tests
And the laws of physics produce another news story in the "Duh" category. When big cars hit little cars, big cars win.

What will it take for American's to buy American again?
To buy American, I think it would take Americans to care more about supporting their own country economic base than about their own selfish needs. It would also take good products that are provide some pride in ownership for the consumer.

Buick "Orlando" concept
Wow, looks great for a chop. I think the greenhouse should be more curved as per the sensual Buick styling theme that current exists.

Sky going to Chevrolet?
Affordable sporty cars may not be the biggest sales hits of any automakers portfolio, but they do provide an image maker of a brand and that can bring in customers for other, less exciting cars in the lineup.
