  1. Don't forget the Satin-Nickel interior trim (different from the Cobalt you have). Also you'll notice the G5 had a different cloth pattern insert than the Cobalt. G5 coupe taillights won't fit a Cobalt/G5 sedan... and it isn't legal to drive with them anyway since they don't have integrated backup lights. if you want an idear of what it would look like (from a former Canuck only G5 Sedan owner), I'll re post a couple pics here of my old G5 (which I incidentally like better than the Cobalt that replaced it). Basically 1) Front Bumper 2) Center Caps for Alloys 3) Center Steering Wheel logo which can be pried off a junkyard car, just clips in IIRC 4) Rear Pontiac Badging 5) Satin Nickel interior trim pieces 6) Obviously a Pontiac key
  2. Puts me in mind of an incident that happened up here a couple of years ago where there were some students at Mount Royal University (the crosstown rival of where I go to school) here in Calgary who lobbied and succeeded in getting the great big Canadian flag that hung in the student center removed- on the grounds that it is a symbol of oppression and exclusion. This led to a school-wide referendum on whether or not the flag should be flown at all in Student Union buildings. Then the media got wind of this and it became a national news story and the school got so much negative feedback and public pressure that they decided to put a new flag up, but the compromise is that is was only 1/4 the size of the old one. The world has gone nuts.
  3. In the interests of full disclosure I fly a Canadian Red Ensign (our old flag) for somewhat similar reasons.
  4. I don't know why those AZ dealers are proud of those butchered up grandpa-editions. When I was in AZ at Christmastime I stopped into Kachina Cadillac on Scottsdale Road and they had a tarted up white DTS in the showroom of all places- sharing real estate with the CTS-V, CTS Wagon and SRX. I have absolutely nothing against the DTS, I quite like it in fact, but all that crap just spoils the lines of the car. I mean this thing had a white cloth top, pinstripes, and those stupid aftermarket chrome door trim pieces- and they didn't do it to just some base DTS- it was Lux IV version with Nav and Walnut trim.
  5. My dad had a 1975 Grand LeMans coupe in that powder blue color for a long time.
  6. we just got through our third Winter Storm warning in as many weeks.
  7. The bowtie logo circle is the same size as the one in all the other GM vehicles including the Impala and GMT-900 which have comparatively huge steering wheels that make the logo look smaller.
  8. Two years ago I went with a pair of full rimless frames to go with the half rimless frames I had but they were too delicate and didn't hold up- still wear them on occasion but those seals that hold the arms the the lenses and the lenses to the bridge got loose... think I'm going to try again this summer with a more expensive pair that will hold up better.
  9. Make either of these here as a Buick and you would be surprised how quick I will buy one.
  10. Red Maserati Bora being rebuilt at the Chev/Cadillac dealer that I had my car serviced at today.

I'd point out my fellow Canadian with a certain yellow Cobalt that has 160000km/100000mi on the factory brakes. My car eats rotors and so does my Dad's new 09. On my 07 we had the rotors machined twice (20000km and 35000km) due to shuddering while braking before they eventually replaced the front rotors- problem solved touch wood. Obviously they didn't fix the issue because it's starting to crop up on my dad's 09 even though it has like 17000km on it right now. Perhaps it's telling that GM changed the rotor design for the current gen Impala twice, in 2009 and 2011.

You said the weather was wet recently... did the weather then go below freezing shortly afterward? Could it be possible that water got into wear related crevices in the brake pads, froze/expanded, and compromised the integrity of the pad?
  13. Bumperplugs.com Tried it on my Impala when I had the front bracket off... perfect match.
  14. That's a dirty rotten shame... I loved that color combo and I LOVED that car when I was little. It's too bad that you can't get a nice rich green on a Buick or Cadillac from GM anymore, accompanied by a great Tan leather interior. Good thing Lincoln still provides that service on the MKZ and MKS with the lovely olive wood- really nice.
  15. I wonder if they have a 1965 Impala SS 'vert like my dad's first car?
  16. Sounds like my clunking Cavalier... never could figure out what was causing that.
  17. Don't give me nightmares with such thoughts.
  18. The Gray Flares would really only fit in the color that matched the bumper IMO. Nice truck!
  19. Seems pretty pedestrian compared to most of the dreams I have that I remember... most are just a bunch of symbolic things I'm afraid to interpret jumping around.
  20. The only thing my car is good at attracting is shopping carts.
  21. Too many conflicting interests have at least something to do with why there has been inaction to this point.
  22. I could say "that makes one of us" but there are days driving the Cobalt where I actually missed certain aspects of my Cavalier (Flow-thru Ventilation, properly weighted power steering, more interior space)
  23. This. I've been to Arizona fairly regularly since was a kid and I've seen this issue get bigger and bigger every time I'm there, especially in Mesa and Apache Junction... I don't know if the bill is right either but I did discuss it with my dad (ex RCMP) and he said that any good cop would probably use it in a responsible way- like if you've already pulled someone over and they don't have a US Drivers license or reasonable suspicion; just like you would with anything else there has to be probable cause. Just pulling Hispanics aside on the street would constitute harassment and I don't think that was the actual aim of this law.
