The Dark Side Is Calling...
Pretty good shape if you ask me, except make sure you replace that ridiculous muffler. The dark side has been calling me too. I've been browsing the classic car pages on Kijiji lately- lots of great stuff for sale esp. Cadillacs and Lincolns. My insurance is scheduled to go down bigtime this spring and I had a small windfall of unexpected cash this fall, so it's entirely possible I'll get myself a project in the spring.

Dodge launches new Journey for 2011
I rather like it, but then again I already liked the current Journey. It's the best selling crossover in Canada right now FYI.

The Great American Road belongs to...
Actually, the chrome lettering was put into the bumpers of Century and Regal at first and at some point (2001 or so) they stopped doing it by matter of decontenting. As for the Chiclets, it was actually my brother's idea. He figured "he had to represent".

Photohunt: Meanist, Scariest automotive face
That's cool how they used the grille of the '58 in that '59

Just saw a CTS coupe
Depends what color it's in. There are 2 2008+ CTS's in my neighborhood. Someone's got a 2009 Black Raven CTS4 Sedan with the 3.6DI and someone else recently bought a Black Raven 2011 CTS4 Coupe. Honestly the Sedan is my favorite but that coupe also looks absolutely rakish in black. The silver/white/gray just doesn't do it justice like black does.

Nudie Bonne
I thought that was a vintage yellow Alberta plate on the front. Believe it or not I saw this very car in Calgary on the streets a few years back. Nice to know there's a story behind it.

CRUZE vs. VOLT
If we're going by how it looks, the Volt wins hands down, but in terms of functionality the fact that the Cruze can seat 5 eeks out a win.

One arrives...
...aaaand it's official what was wrong with that Regal was just an ignition wiring harness. We're going to be picking it up by the weekend and got a killer deal. I tell ya- those W-Bodies start to multiply if you leave them alone.

Home style/Home improvement question
We have some cedar paneled accent walls and in those rooms we also have a nice medium oak "mill run" hardwood. A neat idea is to see if you can get a "mill run" style of hardwood flooring where there are some imperfections and variations from one board to the next- it looks much more natural and less "Stepford".

Chrysler 200 - Not Teasing Anymore
Also am I the only one getting a weird Taurus vibe from the front end at that angle?
-
Chrysler 200 - Not Teasing Anymore
Yeah that door panel looks really bland in that one picture. No trim or brightwork.
-
Chrysler 200 - Not Teasing Anymore
It has the same ugly roofline as the Sebring out back, new taillights, grille and headlights cannot fix the fundamental awkwardness of the car's proportions. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

What would you do?
I'd stick with the known quantity.

One arrives...
He actually has expressed a soft spot for the Aztek (and to a slightly lesser extent the Rendezvous) for some reason (I'm not a huge proponent here but this one is CPO and should be a safe bet). He likes it I think more so because he likes to march to the beat of his own drum than for any campy, outdoorsy reason. He just likes being different and standing out. Seems like it could be a good match. The wild card is the fact that it has significantly higher accumulated mileage than the other cars we are looking at. My dad seems to be set on having something with not much more than 80k on it, but the Rendezvous and Aztek are so much cheaper to insure than even a Regal or Century that it might be okay to risk buying a higher mileage example and leverage the additional savings.

One arrives...
...and so it goes. The Regal developed alternator problems right after we made an offer on it. Seems the owner is going to pull it from sale until he can figure out what is wrong with it and how much it will cost to fix. My brother and parents have latched onto the idea of getting a Rendezvous, but it's tricky to find one with the right mileage- So the search continues and now we are truly at the second string. On Tuesday we're going to look at this car: 2003 Oldsmobile Alero GL 3.4L Sedan, 55000km/34000mi These are also being considered... 2002 Pontiac Aztek, 92000km/57000mi 2003 Buick Century Custom, 55000km/34000mi

Tricks? Treats? Spots?
If that's a 2011 pictured then it's especially perplexing. I tried using the 2010 MY Configurator as well months ago and they didn't have them either. Made me wonder especially since I see them on dealer lots and Ocn had one.

Tricks? Treats? Spots?
I've tried configuring Short-bed Regular Cabs on both the US and Canadian websites and it seems to show them as unavailable; I wonder why.

How the Cruze should have been powered.
I'd agree except that the 'bu walks all over the fusion in terms of design inside and out. It's just a handsomer car- the Fusion interior is really high quality but it's a bit... bland and utilitarian compared to the Malibu.

CTS color question
IIRC It was offered only in 2008.
