Well, Pontiac had me with the Trans Ams by the late '80s, and I sweated the '91 GTA's at the local dealership during the summer of 1990 (one salesman even asked if I wanted to trade in my 12-speed bike for one - I was up there all the time looking at them). However, around the same time I also developed a love for GMC trucks, and the Syclone has definitely ranked up there since then. If I had the cash and an all-original, very low mileage example were to be had, my garage would have a Syclone in there ASAP. Of course nowadays my dream car is my SKY, and it will be one year old next month and my love for it has not gone down at all.

Hey Bob, how about this for a donor car? 1977 Monte Carlo for sale It's got cool looking rims, plus an interior you probably could use, plus you can then part out the rest and sell it all on ebay!

NOS, don't ask me why, but if I were to buy a used vehicle right now, I'd like to find low mileage versions of the '94-'96 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham or Buick Roadmaster sedans (although I did recently find a '91 Olds Custom Cruiser wagon with an original 77K on the odo.... )

Had to go to my local TARGET last night for diapers, dog food and other stuff. Cruised through the toy aisles and in the HW section found the cars I bought at Wal-Mart the other day, plus some new regular line cars and the 1966 Batmobile (2007 first edition). Pretty sharp looking car; get one if you liked the old tv show.

The Dodge 1500 I bought Saturday was red; I have the purple one too, that I bought back in January. The Charger SRT8 is an orange-red color; haven't seent the yellow. And the '70 T/A is white with the black outlined-blue stripe on the roof. I've been around to a few stores lately and this one Wal-Mart had a ton of them on pegs.

That wouldn't happen to be Granite Run BPG, would it? I always thought that dealership was a wierd one, to be positioned like it is. Almost a death trap getting in or out of there! (I was there once on a dealer trade back in 2000)

Surprisingly, I found the black GN, the white '70 T/A, the orangey-red Charger SRT, and the red Dodge 1500 (I've had the purple 1st release since early January) last night at a Wal-Mart right over the bridge in Bristol, Pennsylvania. They had plenty too!

I'm sorry, but this analogy is just plain stupid. Take a look at this analogy (yes, it's just as stupid:

You people that keep comparing the Aztek and the G8 need to get a life. I personally like the ram air hood scoops, and performance Pontiacs throughout the '60s & '70s had them. I'm glad they're staying and that's all I can see that the G8 and Aztek share design-wise. Pontiac no longer makes their own engines (go back to 1979 if you want that feature; 1984 if you consider the Iron Duke 4 cyl in the Fiero to be the real last Pontiac-designed engine) and Pontiac Motor Division no longer designs and builds their own cars. If you can't acept this 20+ year old fact, then the G8 isn't meant for you. Keep buying cars from the '60s, restore/modify/whatever you want, and drive those. Pontiac and GM doesn't need you today. Sorry to vent here, but a lot of you have complained about Pontiac not getting anything new, or more importantly RWD. Here's one hell of a car to bring people, real customers who want performance, trunk space, and 4-doors, back into Pontiac showrooms. Can you enthusiasts ever be happy? If GM eventually drops Pontiac, all I will say is that you naysayers were teh ones to help. Look at all of the pictures of the G8 from the Chicago auto show posted here by various people - there are a ton of young people in the background looking at the G8. Pontiac displays have had people, but not as many as say 10 years ago when the Trans Am was still around. I think it's refreshing to see young people back at Pontiac. Now when I see the G8 at the NYIAS, I'll keep my ears open to see what they're saying. But if it's anything like what people are saying at the Saturn displays within the last two years, then I'll bet the farm that Pontiac will be on it's way back from the grave. I've been noted as the "Saturn guy" lately because of my SKY and AURA purchases. I could have easily gotten a Solstice and G6. But they're not to my liking. I've had three Pontiacs ('95 T/A, '99 G/A GT1, '00 G/P GT). I was in love with Pontiac from '88 until '03. When the new '04 G/P came out, Pontiac began to lose my interest. I wanted a Bonneville GXP, but the price was out of my range and then it was dropped in 2005. The GTO is an awesome car, but if I was going to go with a 2+2 instead of my roadster, I'd have to be able to use the trunk (sorry, but my son's stroller could never fit in there). Sunfire, Montana SV6, Grand Prix <--- none of those appealed to me. Saturn caught my eye with their new design direction and well-known dealership experience. But the G8 (yes, I agree - I'd like a real name too) has definitely made me rethink about Pontiac and when the AURA lease is up at the end of 2009, you can bet I'll make a visit to the local Pontiac dealer to consider one as my next car. Give the market the chance to determine how successful the G8 will be. Those of you that are putting the car down now, would you even be in the market for one?

I've only been in two factories -the Trenton, NJ GM parts plant in summer of 1998 (at their closing ceremony right before demolition) and the still active Mack plant outside of Allentwon PA back in May of 2005. The local historical society was trying to save the offices of the GM plant, as they were designed and built around 1935 and art deco was everywhere. The plant was being torn down while the case was heard in court, so a lot of stuff was left in the offices (mostly junk). However, the plant was fenced in and guarded 24/7, so I could never get back on the property to get anything. The case was lost and GM had the art deco-designed offices quickly torn down

You won't be disappointed with the AURA. When we had the Malibu, the wife took it but wanted to drive the Envoy more. Since getting the AURA in November, I have to let her know she's driving it too much! Just remember that it's a car and not a SUV. While offering a generous rear seat area (aka great legroom) and a decent sized trunk for a mid-sizer, an Equinox/Torrent/VUE may offer more cargo space depending on what your needs are. Did you at least check out the interior of teh Torrent for a comparsion of the three? The wife definitely liked the VUE's dash better, although the Torrent had the bells and whistles I like (for example, a comprehensive driver's info center). And the new 2008 VUE is suppose to be on the dealers lots in July - depending on when you need to have the new vehicle, that may also work out for you. I can't wait to see it, along with the G8, both in person next month at the NYIAS.

Old cars and the smells they give off (gas and exhaust fumes) remind me of the many car shows I've attended and makes me look forward to them the next year (in the winter months, that is). I've also noticed over the last several years that certain smells will trigger happy memories for me, some that I've even forgotten about. Smells can do funny things.

Oh, caddycruiser - about the grille on your friend's FWB SS. What is it from? Is it a modified FW grille, or is it off another Cadillac? I gotta say, that black grille looks good and I would think it would look really good on a black FW. :AH-HA_wink:

Aaaaahhhhhh! Just as soon as I start to get over this car (haven't driven by it since Tuesday!), you two have to go and post! I still want this car, and unfortunately z28luvr01, he still has the car advertised again in the local newspaper still at $3,995. I'm telling you that if he lowered it to $2,000 I don't care what the wife would say (or more importantly, the fact I'd be outside sleeping in it), I'd buy it at that price (still have to find the cash, but I'd be more motivated!). $4k is too much for this car with that kind of mileage, and regardless of how well he took care of it or what he spent to fix it up, a car like this just isn't going to attract anyone (notice how it hasn't sold already in the three weeks he's had it for sale?). I'm going to wait it out and see if he lowers his price any in the newspaper. Since I don't have the cash in my pocket, I'm not calling him to negotiate. If he lowers it on his own, then I'll be motivated to find the cash and then contact him (at least then I'll know he understands that he can't get what he wants for it). I really need to see if this is the right car for me - I mean, I've always loved how they look and I've ridden in many as limos, but I've never driven one myself. caddycruiser, I just may be taking you up on your offer soon. When's a good time for you?

Well, caddycruiser did me a big favor and called the guy that's selling the car (I figured he's the expert on these cars, and he'd know the right questions to ask). The guy put some money into fixing up the car mechanically, but here's where I have a problem with it - it has 189,000 miles. caddycruiser isn't as concerned as I am about the higher mileage, due to the repairs the guy already did and the shape the car appears in. Plus he knows that these "tanks" are well built and can sustain up to 300K on the clock if well cared for. So I'm not as interested as I was last week, but I still like the car! Call me If he wasn't asking $3,995, and more like $1,500-$2,000, I probably wouldn't care as much (don't ask why). But does anyone else get the same vibe as I do in regards tot he mileage this car has, or is it just me? BTW, I really appreciate caddycruiser's assistance with all of my questions and favors - he is a true friend to us C&Gers!

Congrats on the GMC. It sounds like it's a great truck. Please find the time to post some pictures - I can never see too many of them! Of course that makes two C&Ger's that have brand new Sierra pickups. I swear, I have to find a way to get one for myself when the Envoy lease ends next summer. I'm getting jealous here!

Creative, I went through pretty much the same thing when I leased my AURA XE back in November. I had to have an exact color combination, with the right option packages, in order to make the deal. Unfortunately my Saturn dealer didn't order any of their XEs the way I wanted and the search began. One dealer had exactly what I wanted, but was in the same situation as yours (customer coming in on it). They never got back to my salesman, so he found two others. They both wouldn't trade, and the outlook (no pun intended!) was grim. But a day later another one was found, a little farther away, and the trade was made and I got my car. Don't be down yet, give your salesman/manager a couple more days. On the plus side you have some time left before those incentives run out, and I'm sure they can make a delivery (back-dated though) after March 1 with those incentives in place (I've seen it done when I sold cars).

CARBIZ is right, the choice is going to come down to personal taste. I recommended the Torrent (my choice) over the Equinox because of the "truckier" design and the little upscale touches (I guess that means the available Ebony interior and the standard red lighting, if the interior designs are the same in both <I didn't bother with looking at the Equinox at the Philly Auto Show>) are what make me like the Torrent over the Equinox. But their basically rebadges, with some slight differences. Again, what you prefer will ultimately lead you to the one you like best. Good luck - you've got a lot of input here so far.

1994 Caddy Fleetwood sedan (not a Brougham). For sale locally. I have admired this car for the past two years, as I've seen it parked at ACME several times and just driving around town. Problem is that finances aren't supporting this purchase, neither is the wife. Caddycruiser has been a big help so far with answering questions for me - thanks bud! Pray for me that I hit the lottery this week... I'll go and play today! In the meantime, if anyone wants to donate to my "cure this disease" fund, I'll be happy to take your money! :AH-HA_wink:

Thanks guys. Well, the damage isn't as bad as the wife made it out to be. Don't get me wrong, it will still need a new bumper. But I was expecting for the darn thing to be all mangled up and the damage is hardly noticable when you're viewing the whole front. Attached are some pictures. Since I'm off tomorrow for President's Day, I scheduled an appointment at a different Saturn dealer's body shop (I won't be going back to my Saturn dealer after the SKY fiasco). Plus their body shop is one of those "preferred repair shops" by my insurance company, so no inspection by my agent is required and all I have to pay is my deductible. Hopefully it will be a quick repair job. The downside is that my insurance company only gives me $20 per day for a rental car through Enterprise... I have a feeling that an AVEO (or similar car) will cost me more than $20 per day. The wife said take the cheapest car they have, so I already informed her that she'll be the one driving it and not me!!!

Balthazar, my vote would go towards the TORRENT over the Equinox. I prefer it's truckier design and the little upscale touches over the Equinox ('Nox owners, please don't be offended!). We seriously considered a Torrent AWD V6 as a replacement for the '04 Malibu, but the wife liked the VUE better (she liked it's smaller size and dash design over the Torrent) and I liked the AURA better than the current VUE. I will say that there is a ton of room in the second row of the Torrent & Equinox. We had no problem with the way the V6 performed or the ride & handling on our mixed local road/highway test drive last summer.
