  1. Word from a Chevrolet rep. at LAIAS is that the Volt will be going. He mentioned that Thanksgiving day was the last day for the Volt on display at LAIAS, since it would be heading off to DC.
  2. It was under$1 when I started driving in '95. This was in Southern California, where price tend to be slightly higher then the national average.

Just got back from the show, here are some random thoughts... Ford did have the best display of the Big 3, followed by GM, then Chrysler. Sat in a Challenger, it was eh. Sat in the back of a G8... it's cavernous! Finally sat in an Astra... it was what I expected. Word from a guy working the Chevy floor is that today is the last day for the Volt at LAIAS, as it will be taken to DC. Spykers are sweet! Going on Thanksgiving is nice, cuz the show is rather empty. Signed up to win a Fusion hybrid, wouldn't mind if it happened. Standing and staring at the Camaro hasn't gotten old, even after seeing the concept in Detroit (at the debut) and at last year's LAIAS. CTS wagon and V are awesome. Honda Insight looks pretty good.
  4. Just highlighting that... in case somebody missed it.

    So... where's the oil leak?
  6. AAS replied to MyerShift's topic in The Lounge
Is the problem the clutch, or the oil dripping into it? If it's the oil leak, then that should be under warranty, right? Where is the oil coming from?
  7. 2 Tahoe Hybrids (without the stickers!) A hydrogen fuel cell Equinox
  8. AAS replied to Croc's topic in LA Auto Show
    Lame...
  9. I'm really hoping they give us the next generation Rabbit TDI!

Did Chevy have Camaros on the floor, and were they letting you sit inside them? That's what I'm really looking forward to.
  11. Did people with EV1's care about gas prices? By the way... what was the EV1's range on full charge? Weight? The Volt's range doesn't exceed the EV1's, does it?
  12. Agreed, the updates are excellent. But, would it be possible to go back to blue for the color of the little folder signifying "new replies," as opposed to the dark grey/black its become?

Not heat... FIRE, literally. The fires, and air quality. It was just easier for me to say LA, rather then list the fires... By the way, you forgot Brea and Carbon Canyon/Yorba Linda. Those two spewed a lot of crap around where I live.

So Cal, especially LA, is NOT the place to be right now...
  15. Did you ever watch it? Unlike the Mustang in "Knight Rider," the Camaro has only appeared ONCE for barely a minute (of an hour long show) in the first episode. I only started watching "My Own Worst Enemy" because I was hoping to see lots of the new Camaro, but I've actually kept watching it because it is a decent/good show. I'm actually bummed it's getting canceled...
  16. What you can compare is BMW's diesel vs. gas gains, which aren't as remarkable as the Jetta's gains. So, who cares about the 335d... it doesn't even have an optional manual transmission...
  17. I would call going from 1 to 2 gears (did anyone even make a 1-speed?) innovation. I would call adding overdrive innovation. Adding more gears that fall within the same final drive ratio is NOT innovation, it's just an improvement. And, from what I've read, going beyond 6 gears is not even an improvement. What BMW car (I'm assuming you are refering to a car currently available in NA) gets 36 mpg highway?
  18. I'm going. Don't know when.
  19. AAS replied to Satty's topic in The Lounge
Mmmmm... Beers: Porters, Stouts, Ales (used to like IPA's, but can't take them anymore), PBR(!), strong ales... Liquor: Stolichnaya, Crown Royal, dirty martini, Jose Cuervo Family Reserve (like a tequila/whiskey)
  20. And what's up with the 9-1 thing?
  21. Looks like the Antara concept (2-door, small cross-over) that we saw years ago...
  22. Didn't we already cover this in the "I hate (Latino) immigrants" thread a while back? Why the hell are we discussing it again? And once more... It's not only Spanish. I saw "polling place" signs in languages other then English and Spanish...
  23. I don't care for politics, but you might as well have summed up the 2004 election! While I'm at it... I think both parties screwed up. The Democrats had it in the bag by just choosing a solid candidate. They didn't need to go so extreme as to push two candidates that would be 'firsts' if elected. The Republicans then followed suit by picking Palin (I think they would have had a much better chance my again, choosing a solid VP candidate).
  24. Will the Americas, minus the US, get them?
  25. AWESOME!!! Here's to hoping that Hertz gets a ZR1-HZ edition!!! Really... how else will I ever get to drive one...
