  1. Interesting..first I've heard of this. I like how other currencies use color.. esp. how Euros are different sizes and different colors for each denomination.
  2. In general, it seems countries that were colonized by the British or have a historical relationship to the British (Australia, New Zealand, India, etc) drive on the left/sit on the right while other countries (US, Canada, France, Italy,China, etc) drive on the right/sit on the left...that's the distinction I've noticed. Driving on the right/sitting on the right (i.e. a UK car in continental Europe) or vice versa (a continental European car in the UK) would be awkard, I think..as far as the visibility. I have an acquaintance that has an R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R and he's said it took a while to get comfortable driving in the US in a RHD car..
  3. I don't see why the Aura needs a 4cyl..let the 4cyl Malibu and G6 compete with the 4cyl Camry/Accord/Altima...
  4. From that article, it sounds like it's just a LWB version of the VE Commodore...different trim and sheetmetal, same dirty bits.
  5. It's just a concept rendering, so I'm not sure how closely it matches the production model, but it looks pretty generic... the front air dam and rear wing look tacked on and kind of '80s/90s looking. Not that interesting styling-wise..
  6. Interesting..I wonder if the new Commodore will be badged as a Chevy Lumina in the Middle East like the current model...
  7. Well, this is a private forum with moderators and rules of conduct...I wouldn't expect free speech here.. therefore, I wouldn't label it censorship.
  8. As far as PDA phones, I find my Treo 650 works well as a phone and as a PDA...and it's smaller than my old Palm VII. Though I miss the form factor of my old Motorola flip phone, it fit in my front pants pocket easily.. I have a coworker that has a Sidekick..interesting design.
  9. This change was probably made to facilitate sharing front fenders with the Aspen..I'm not sure, but they look the same.
  10. Yes, it's pretty absurd to compare a production car against vaporware...the Camaro is strictly a concept now..who knows what the production car will really be like in 3 years? Who knows if GM will still exist as it does now in 3 years? Given GM's problems, the Camaro may simply end up being a decal package on the Cobalt SS..
  11. Yes, yes...this is the kind of Camaro or GTO I'd want..w/ the most powerful V8, a 6-spd manual, big brakes, IRS, but also a sunroof, heated seats, powerful sound system, upgraded interior, good cupholders. all the creature comforts to make the car practical as a daily driver. One of the reasons I love BMWs is the combination of daily use amenities with all-around performance. A straight-line drag car alone would be boring to me.
  12. That's an improvement...the ugliest aspects of the current model are the headlights and bulgy fenders, IMHO.
  13. I really don't care for touch screens... I like the tactile feel of buttons/knobs that I can use without looking at them. I'm a fan of recent Chrysler radios--the controls in my Jeep are very intuitive--I can change the station, volume, CD track, etc all without taking my hands off the wheel (controls on the backside of the wheel)....the head unit is high in the center stack and a short reach, with distinct knobs for each function. Though I have yet to own a vehicle with a NAV system... maps still work fine for me, though I'm sure I'll buy something sooner or later w/ NAV.
  14. I saw one of the police package Chargers up close at the Denver Auto Show last week..they look good in that form. The styling of the Charger has taken some getting used to, but IMHO, it's infinitely better than the oh-so-bland boxy '80s Diplomat/Fury (Chrysler's last RWD police cars).
  15. More like rebodied Caliber.. it's sibling the Patriot looks nicer, though, iMHO... (a lot like the old XJ Cherokees).
  16. So he has 'horrible taste in cars' for buying an XLR-V is what you are saying? Wierd. I would have thought he would have had an Escalade or Navigator at least, though I could see him driving big Benzes...nothing wrong with that...they were and are popular cars with the rich and famous, as well as the rich and non-famous (S-class, CL-class, SL). A big Benz has long been the mark of good taste, IMHO. (though I don't care for the blinged look some get modified with).
  17. I spell it 'gauges' also... 'Gages' must be a GM thing?
  18. I guess they are getting nostalgic for the '90s cladded, overwrought Pontiac look... Or they are trying to attract the kiddies that like the gaudy F&F look...
  19. The grille reminds me of the current Saturn Ion sedan.
  20. I think the California market is way more realistic as to the general market and trends nationwide than the Michigan market, for example..
  21. Also, the car distribution your little survey resulted in is probably very similar to other parts of the country..I'd probably get similar numbers here in the Denver area, at DIA or in the lot of a mall like Park Meadows or Flatiron Crossing......
  22. The ones I know do...I know a lot of immigrants (from India, Canada, S. Africa mostly) and the vast majority drive Toyotas, with smaller numbers driving Nissans and Honda models...I know 4 immigrants (one from India, one from Switzerland, 2 from Canada) that drive GMs..
  23. Sounds like it...a pic of a guy riding a motorcycle. yawn. Not really thread material.
  24. They seem to have, like the Camry, a pretty broad demographic... I know an ES owner that's a 30 yr old guy, and 3 RX owners--one is a 31 yr old guy, the other a 38 yr old guy, another that's a 35 yr old woman.
  25. I used to have a Palm with wireless and would read email from that....it was fairly useful when I was on the road for the company I was at...(this was 6 years ago). I used to check email at traffic lights and on the freeway when caught in gridlock.. I currently have a Treo phone and read email from it only when I'm traveling for work and am away from the laptop or bored when waiting in the airport. Never wanted a Blackberry, though..I like being disconnected when I can... I also force myself not to check work email when I'm home and not working.
