C&G Census Results
I see 2 options: 1) Add a question along the lines of "Has your preferred GM brand been discontinued and if so are you interested in Brand X?" 2) Have a heritage brand census, bundle together Saab, Saturn, Pontiac and Hummer, which allows you to compare sales if current brands to those of brands from the recent past. Instead of asking if a purchase from a heritage brand is planned, ask if a future GM purchase is a consideration.

Edmunds' Report Showing Pontiac Owners Sticking With GM
Last time we had this conversation there was a chart that showed the industry average retention rate was 48%. With that for some perspective, 40% doesn't seem very bad.

Finding Schweddy Balls
It was a shortcut because "wacky people who feel the need to force their definition of morality on the general public in spite of the lack of interest the general public has in having the definitions of right and wrong decided by one group that doesn't represent America as a whole" is a bit of a mouthful.

That happens a lot. I would like to see a post-bankruptcy census, would be interesting.

Edmunds' Report Showing Pontiac Owners Sticking With GM
Given where owners went, I think its safe to say Pontiac buyers were not into sporty cars.

Edmunds' Report Showing Pontiac Owners Sticking With GM
Avis probably had a contract with GM that they couldn't get out of.

The Bitch, Moan and Whine thread...
I don't hate the idea of an XC70, but 2 wagons seems unnecessary. She did like the XC we drove, and is starting to think that maybe having AWD wouldn't be a bad thing. My argument that as long as we have the Jetta we can have a small car isn't working.

The Bitch, Moan and Whine thread...
I wanted a C30 when we got the Cooper, she wouldn't consider it. Now she wants to look at the S60 and maybe the XC70.

Mini Lineup To Grow
Only if the base engine is a V8 putting down at least 380hp, which is the minimum you need on a public road.

I've got to go with my wife to look at a Volvo like some kind of....ugh, I don't want to think about the kind of person who has a Volvo.

I needed to get someone a spreadsheet, but this person didn't have email access so I had to print it out for them, like a goddamn troglodyte.

Daily Driving Through Strange Times
Does 'blu need a new cabana boy already? As for what Muammar Gaddafap was saying, any journalistic endeavor is a ton of work that requires you to look at something from every angle. For the most part, the only thing you'll do is piss people off.

Cheers or Jeers: 1981 Pontiac Phoenix LJ Hatchback
There is an '81 Citation on eBay for $500 more, proving once and for all that Chevy is the better, more desirable brand.

300 S
The Limited is a nice (although huge) ride, good powertrain, more room than I know what to do with, maybe more cargo space than the Jetta. No sign of an S which is more appealing (on paper) than the other models. Jill liked it, but like everything else, we're in the early stages.

The Bitch, Moan and Whine thread...
Autotrader's New Car Adviser has our top 5 as: 1) Nissan Altima hybrid 2) Chevy Volt 3) Volvo S80 4) Hyundai Genesis sedan 5) Volvo S60 Only one of those is actually appealing, but that Top 5 makes me feel old.

300 S
Has anyone seen one in person? Thoughts? Worth the money over a regular 300? Going to check out a Limited, wondering if the audio in the S is appreciably better or if the S is any better looking than the Limited in the wild. Can't believe this car is on the list....

Daily Driving Through Strange Times
Considering I have a high school diploma (miss that meme?) I'd like to offer this about picking a degree program: Study something you like and things will fall into place. I often call my media studies degree worthless, but it led directly to me doing some community outreach and fundraising (extortion) work for an organization that helps abandoned children, which was pretty rewarding. The moral of the story: pick something you like and don't worry about the future. You're more likely to stick with a program that interests you and job opportunities will present themselves quite unexpectedly.
