And for what it's worth, if GM takes the the same tact, just 'blaming airborn debris' then I'll ciriticize them just the same. You can see by the car in my sig that I'm not an import hater - I just didn't think Toyota handled that situation correctly. -RBB

Sprint entered the St. Louis market in 1997 - at the time, it was the first ditigal cellular service offered in the area. I worked at Best Buy at the time, and got an employee plan through them. I was one of the first people in the market to sign up for their service. I've had nothing but good experiences with them. They've always been friendly and efficient when I've had to deal with them. The coverage has been good, and they've offered me reduced rates or even free services for being a long-term customer, without my asking for them. I don't have a fair and flexible plan. I've got a fixed 700 peak minute plan with unlimited off-peak, nationwide calling, no roaming, unlimited PCS Vision, unlimited text messaging, free nights and weekends after 7PM plan that I share with my wife. I get a discount through my workplace, so all that runs just a little more than $60/month after taxes. I've not comparison priced recently, but I've not found much that can touch those rates. Props to Sprint Josh (even though you are a RedWings fan... :puke: ) -RBB

For comparison: The nose gets a more traditionally shaped grill, which a good thing, IMO. The front bumper is more square - it doesn't wrap around into the quarter panel as much, and has a more substantial chin. I don't think you can call that a chin spoiler, but I wonder if that (with the rocker sill) is not just an appearance package that will not be available on all models. The tail, too, gets squared off and is more upright. The taillights are like the Taurus in that they wrap around to the side of the car, but the shape is not all that similar. Overall the changes are an improvement. It's hardly a soul-stirring design, but it's inoffensive and better than the Solara, at least. -RBB

  12. Without looking at the ordering chart, wouldn't leather add close to a grand to the cost of the Solstice? They're also the only review I've read that prefers the 6-speed in the Miata to the 5-speed. Most everyone else says the 6-speed is unnecessary because the gear spread is about the same - you just end up shifting more to get the same result. Perhaps a more legitimate criticism would be that the Miata has smoother and easier shifter. That's no knock on the Solstice, but the Miata's gearbox has been setting the standard for years. Excellent points. -RBB

Agreed every word with Sixty8 on the 97-05 Civics. As regards the current one, I like the looks of the Civic Si coupe. I'd like to see a base DX model without the 18 inch alloys and spoiler and the like to see if it's still attractive. The sedans I'm not sure about - I'll need to see one in person before I'm decided. The design of the interior is a big step back IMO. It's just odd. Odd can be a good thing - I'm all for taking some chances stylistically. This is not one of those. Blech. The only plus is that they offer a Nav system - GM needs to do this, too. -RBB
  16. If you count my wife's Geo Prizm, then I guess I'm a GM owner. I'm an automotive enthusiast. I pull for GM because of my father, who's owned Chevrolets for years (he has an '00 Silverado currently). Myself, I go for four-door sedans that are fun to drive, and I've been disappointed with the choices offered by GM so far. I've always thought Chevy and GM trucks were superior, but I'm not a truck guy. Things are looking up - the new product from GM is better now than any time I can remember, having grown up during the 80's and 90's. I hope to be driving my Mazda for several years, but next time I'm in the market, if there's a fun-to-drive sedan that won't depreciate precipitously, I'm there. -RBB

  21. I can understand where they're coming from, though, from a consumer standpoint. Say you're looking for an affordable sporty convertible roadster. Your choices are the Mazda Miata or the Pontiac Solstice. If the Mazda's selling at sticker and the Pontiac's got $3-8K dealer markup, which one would you choose? -RBB [EDIT] That said, GM's still selling every one they can make, even with the markup. I'm not saying there's no demand, or that the dealers shouldn't charge that if they can get it. But the Miata is a better value right now because it's not marked up at the dealer lots.

I have two dogs and two cats. This is Rosie. She's a terrier mix. Smart as a whip and twice as stubborn: This is Auggie. Not too smart, and not too coordinated, but he's cute and a lapdog. He's also fond of the camera: This is Yeti. He's a snowshoe. Again, rather dumb, but generally a sweetheart when he's not peeing on the bed: And finally, this is Gracie. She's a ragdoll. She's beautiful and she knows it. She'll make sure you know it too before she's done with you. She'll the eldest of the group, at about 10 y/o. The rest are 4 y/o or less: -RBB
