Hopefully bringing back the RWD Impala will light a fire under Ford's ass to either update the Vic or bring out a new RWD flagship. Either way, by the time the Impala comes out, I'll be out of school and probably in a steady job...a RWD big sedan would fit the bill for me.

Report: Toyota Recalls About 54,000 Cars Thursday November 16, 7:00 am ET Report: Toyota Recalls About 54,000 Passenger Cars Because of Engine Problems TOKYO (AP) -- Toyota Motor Corp. has recalled about 54,000 passenger cars because of engine problems, Kyodo News agency reported Thursday. Subject to recall are 54,217 vehicles in two models, including the Harrier sport utility vehicle. The vehicles have a defect that can cause the engine's computer control system to operate incorrectly and possibly catch fire, Kyodo said. There were two cases of fires in Japan, both happening in cars left parked with the engine running, but no one was injured, Kyodo said. The recalled models were produced between December 1997 and November 2000. It was unclear where the vehicles were sold.

In my Chinese architecture history class, my professor (who grew up in China but escaped after the Communist revolution and came to the US) has been teaching us how China fell into decline and believes that they are now emerging and will be the next world superpower within 25 years. Chinese civilization declined in the 18th century due to complacency and unwillingness to compete...and the US is doing the same thing today. We are complacent as a country, our debt is being bought up by foreign companies, we're outsourcing jobs, money is being spent in the wrong places, our infrastructure continues to rot, the education system is falling behind the rest of the world...and the general public doesn't even blink an eye.He says it is up to our generation to keep the US from becoming another failed civilization like 18th century China...pretty strong words, but I think there is some truth to them.

Actually, as a kid, I would always look at maps on road trips and kind of memorized the interstate systems and how they looped around cities and stuff. I also could draw New York's boroughs off the top of my head right now, lol. I played a game called SimCity a lot when I was younger, which is where you build and manage cities (maybe you've heard of it before), so I've long had an interest in city planning.A firm called Brooks Borg Skiles did that building, which is called Howe Hall.

I'm not a fan of the new Sebring either...Chrysler went in the wrong direction after the success of the 300. There are so many things wrong with this car: 1) Who ever thought that fake blacked-out C-pillar piece would look good? It just screams of cost-cutting. If that part of it was fixed, the car would look 50% better. 2) Door cut lines...who approved this?? Just look at it...that back is terrible. 3) Why don't the backup lights on the taillights line up? Right now, it looks like two pieces that were randomly just stuck on there. Also, the taillights are too big and Chrysler completely ignored the details...the corner of the taillight should have lined up with that character line that runs along the doors. Details, Chrysler...details! 4) The entire rear end is not graceful. It reminds me a lot of the old K-car Chrysler New Yorkers with the formal roofline and short deck, especially when you see it from the front end. 5) The Crossfire creases on the hood are completely unnecessary. 6) The headlights are too big and cartoonish. Basically, this looks like a clown car.

What an unprofessional heap of garbage. I generally agree that many of these vehicles are in need of replacing or are badge engineered, but they completely throw objectivity out the window. TWAT awards...sounds like TTAC has the mental capacity of a 7th grade boy going through puberty.

Dratnol, what year Lumina do you have? My '90 that I used to drive had 210,000 miles when we got rid of it. That 3100 just keeps going, and going... I have no experience with the LaCrosse, but I like the looks of them. I'd probably take a Lucerne myself, but it's also pricier.

When I first got into Metallica, I bought S&M and then Reload. Then I bought Master of Puppets and it completely blew me away. Load is ok, better than Reload...but it can't hold a candle to the first four albums, IMO. I guess I'm just a fan of the older sound. Megadeth and Anthrax are great bands, along with Testament, Warrant (Germany), Savatage, and Annihilator. I just recently got into Annihilator and they're very thrashy like Testament and Anthrax with some innovative guitar work. I never got into Slayer though.

I think you'd like Queensryche if you gave them a shot. They have a lot of deep meaning in the lyrics and the vocalist Geoff Tate is one of the best out there. If you ever get the chance to buy a CD by them or someone has a copy, start with Operation: Mindcrime. That was my first QR disc and it got me hooked.Mustang84's quick guide to Queensryche: Queensryche (1983) - debut album, pretty good but only has four songs unless you buy the remastered version with some live recordings. Very heavy metal...kind of the old school dungeons and dragons type of metal. Queen of the Reich, The Lady Wore Black, and Blinded are all good songs. The Warning (1984) - This one was produced by the same guy who did Pink Floyd or Rush or someone, I can't remember who...but it's softer than the first one. The songs get longer (one is just barely under 10 minutes). NM156 is one of my favorites...kind of like a Terminator-esque theme where machines control the world. Take Hold of the Flame, En Force, and Road to Madness are great songs. Rage for Order (1986) - The third album, they got heavier again. Some consider this their best album, while others say it's O:M. There are a lot of epic songs on here and a lot of different moods; best ones include Walk in the Shadows, I Dream in Infrared, the Killing Words, and Surgical Strike. The theme of this album led up to Operation: Mindcrime Operation: Mindcrime (1988) - epic, revolutionary, perfect. There's no point describing this one in more detail...it's essential for any classic metal fan. Empire (1990) - The last of the "classic" albums, this one was a mix of many styles and more mainstream tunes. Some of my favorites include Empire, Jet City Woman, Hand on Heart, and Anybody Listening? Promised Land (1994) - Much different. The musical scene had changed and the band changed their sound to more of a darker, laid back sound without the wall of guitars. It's not a bad album, but it's a lot different...and doesn't appeal to everyone. Don't have Hear in the Now Frontier, Q2K, or Tribe so I won't comment on them, but I've heard that Hear in the Now Frontier isn't very good. Operation: Mindcrime II (2006) - Probably the best album since Promised Land, but it doesn't compare to the original album. Not many of the songs are very memorable, but I'm American, Hostage, and Fear City Slide are pretty decent songs.

Agreed, arguably among the best conceptual albums as well. Right up there with The Wall.

Never seen Queensryche in concert yet, but it's something I'd like to do if they ever come to Iowa. I bought O:M II and it seemed decent at first, but I grew tired of it pretty quickly. I don't think I've listened to it in three months now. It's not a terrible album and it definitely has its moments, but I find myself putting Rage for Order or the original Mindcrime into the disc changer when I'm feeling like some 'ryche. I think the problem with II is that it lost the epic feel of the original.

I don't know a whole lot about VW's....what exactly is a GTI? Is it a Golf or a Jetta? It looks like a Golf, but I think his was an '03 and I didn't think they were selling Golfs here in the US back then. Me confused...

Last night, a friend of mine was driving his VW Golf on Highway 20 going about 70 MPH when he reached down for a Gatorade bottle and ended up drifting onto the gravel shoulder. He tried to correct it but lost control and rolled into the ditch at least five times according to witnesses. He hadn't been drinking or anything. Luckily, he was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags went off. If you look at the roof on the passenger side, it's dented in pretty deep. Another friend of mine almost rode with him but had to change plans at the last minute. If he had ridden with him, he probably wouldn't be here today. Scary stuff. He ended up walking away from the scene with minor injuries after briefly losing consciousness. They had to take him to the hospital to pull glass out of his head and hands and put his arm in a sling, but otherwise nothing was broken. He definitely had luck on his side that night. Moral to the story: wear your seatbelt! It saved his life.

I'm happy that they've actually done something with the Olds site, but I wish there was a lot more content. They should show more specs and model lineups by year, with more images and video or something. And all the ads are too small to actually read.
