fire in Honda ridgeline
I've seen 3 car fires in the last 10 years. All have been Hondas. Probably wild coincidence, but still wierd.

Honda in decline
The problem Honda faces as well is that they do not sell well at all in emerging markets, so they've never had those sales to back them up when the first world hits hard times. If you never crack into a market, you never get good import prices. My tour guide while I was in Costa Rica told me that Hondas are as expensive as BMWs down there because they have to ship them in such small numbers.

China Wants To Know Volt's Secrets
Communist regimes have typically been dictatorships or totalitarian regimes, but there's nothing in Communist ideology that strictly says that must be so. Theoretically you could have one country which is both fully communist and fully democratic. In the real world, that has never happened, since most people with democratic choice feel that capitalism is more "fair" than communism, and therefore vote against communist governments. TL,DR - It's not the fact that they're communist that's the problem. It's the fact that they're not democratic.

Whenever I see a PT Cruiser now, I think...
Think about how bland the non-performance car market has become. Does it surprise you that uniqueness sells?

Advice for a coworker
He's been offered $800 by a junkyard... is that fair?

Advice for a coworker
That's what I suggested. However, if it's worth a couple of thousand, than he'll lose out on a lot of cash by doing it that way, as you only make back about 12% on tax reciepts.

Advice for a coworker
Other issues: The gas gauge doesn't work Engine coolant leaks Engine needs tuneup (power is obviously reduced) Interior fan sounds like s--- Keyless entry remotes no longer work He has no interest in fixing the car. He's just looking to get the most value out of it.

Advice for a coworker
One of my coworkers is buying a new car to replace his currently broken manual '03 Saab 9-3 that has 200,000 km. The clutch is not working. The car is currently sitting at a shop, not being worked on. The mechanic looked at it, and nothing obvious is wrong with it without going into major labour charges (opening clutch/transmission). The Subaru dealer that he's buying the new car from is not offering a trade, even without knowing that the clutch is dead. The mechanic at the shop wants the car for free, because he's inspected it, and it's been sitting on his lot for two weeks now. That strikes me as a bit of a cash grab. However, I'm wondering if it's going to be worth it for him to get it towed to a junkyard instead, given that the mechanic may charge him something. What do you guys think? How much value is there in a broken car like this?

I don't have any problems with the A-pillars getting in the way. I do have a problem with my B-pillars getting in the way. I got too used to having a coupe and not having to move my torso to do a shoulder check. It's kind of a pain in the a--.

LUJ (1.4 Turbo) Torque Curve?
I was able to find a torque curve graph for my engine previously on Google. Now I can't. Can anyone help me out? Also, does anyone know what the minimum engine speed for boost is?

When dogs attack
I know that here in Ontario, if your dog attacks a person or another animal and there is a police complaint against it, the dog is put down. I am shocked that you do not have the same laws.

You have an uplevel information center from what I have too. Wish I'd realized that I wasn't getting a mileage readout when I bought it, might have thought twice about getting the model on the lot. Really, I just expected (especially on an Eco!) that an information center with at least a mileage readout would be standard.

Mr. Dart, I agree with ya regarding leather seats. Unless they're heated, then they're OK. They can be hot in summer and cold in winter. I have cloth seats in my car, but a leather wrapped wheel and shifter knob. One concern I have is getting the gray seats dirty after working all day. Maybe I should carry a big towel to put over the seat in case my clothes are dirty, or just strip in the parking lot, whichever is easier for me to remember. Thanks uncle davey, and ZL-1. That GTC looks pretty cool, I'd take it as a Buick with a front clip similar to the Verano. Whoops! Didn't look closely. That light cloth looked like leather at a quick glance. Was that fold-down section in the back seat an option? I don't have that.

Why we need to keep the second amendment...
Law abiding citizens shouldn't have to defend themselves. That's what the police are for. The fact that we haven't evolved past the old west mentality embarrasses me.

Right, forgot to check that. You have a leather interior, which also likely gives you a leather shift knob. I'll take my cloth and urethane shifter any day. Never did really like the feel of leather as an interior (though I know I'm alone in that sentiment)

We Don't Need No
When I use Google to convert mpg to L/100km, (I'm assuming it's using American gallons) 48 mpg = 4.9 L/100km. I got 5.0 L/100km (47 mpg) going to Quebec City from Toronto on nothing but highways, stopping only a few times in the roughly 800km/500mi trip. I was going 105 km/h (65mph) most of the way. There was one short traffic jam in Montreal, but I didn't think it would affect the average that much... maybe it did. Or, maybe those fuel economy improvements on the Eco are just not that effective in the real world. I don't know.

We Don't Need No
I'm confused as to how you're getting better mileage than me, with the same engine and worse gear ratios...
-
An Ocn Cruze
Interesting, we appear to have different shifter knobs. Mine doesn't have any stitching, which is actually why I like it better than the one from the Cobalt - I no longer feel like I'm holding a baseball... why do we have different ones?

And now for something completely different…
Congrats on having the cojones to make a major life change like this. Most people just sit at that "so-so" job until they hate themselves.
