  1. So you have to pay like 35K+ to get a decent performance car? Toyota really has nothing competitive...unless you wanna call a V6 camry a sports car....in the under 35K bracket.
  2. What else are they gonna say in the media? I could hear it now.."We are the best company in the world, we do not make mistakes, you should be privileged to buy our cars"
  3. Snate replied to Variance's topic in Nissan
    Still ugly.
  4. The X3 is quite possibly the most pointless vehicle ever.
  5. cookie cutter houses
  6. Looks better than the current one...although thats not saying much. I don't think style is a big selling point for Toyotas though.
  7. Snate replied to Cremazie's topic in The Lounge
    Probably Canadian $$$
  8. The new Yaris ads are pretty stupid.
  9. The local dealership is offering the employee pricing plus 0%/72 months....must be pretty slow there.
  10. Define "reasonably". The thing costs almost 26K base...I don't really consider that reasonable.
  11. Exterior is pretty bland but its much better than the brick 300. Interior is ok...but also pretty dull.
  12. Snate replied to a post in a topic in Chrysler
    Still looks like a brick.
  13. Well...at least it doesn't completely underperform like the Prius. I still stick by my statement that the eventual hybrid Malibu will be a much better deal with this if GM doesn't mess it up.
  14. No they really aren't. Honda and Toyota directly or indirectly employ a fraction of the people that Ford and GM do. This also does not take into consideration the amount of retirees that Ford and GM continue to support.
  15. I for one prefer the G6 interior to this. I really don't like the acres of cheap plastic aluminum Toyota has chosen to put in every new interior. The exterior looks worse than the last one...which is a pretty bold accomplishment.
  16. Simple...CR's methodology is incorrect. They survey their own subscribers. The only way to have a meaningful survey like this is if it is completely random. Survey people from all different demographics who bought a new car. Different regions, different ages, different income levels, etc. CR could care less whether or not 90% of their subscribers drive a Camry (probably close to reality anyway). A similar scenario would be if someone surveyed what midwesterners preferred to drive and extrapolated that out to the entire country. I'm sure the average west coaster would not drive the same thing as the average midwesterner...but that is the same flawed logic that CR would use...hence why it is worthless. The JD powers IQS survey is WORTHLESS because it just surveys the first 90 days of ownership. I don't think any company that couldn't screw a car together to hold for the first 90 days should be in business here. It's even worse now with the subjective "ratings" as half the stuff reported is probably things the buyer knew ahead of time but bought anyway and still decided to whine. The 3 or 5 year long term quality survey of JD powers is much more important. It's pretty much a given that it will be more accurate and reliable than CR due to the correct methodology (random samples)
  17. Where is the logic in this? Anytime a new car is redesigned the reliability of it will be questionable simply because it has new parts in it that have never been used before. Both should clearly be labeled "too new to tell reliability" irregardless of the past performance of the nameplate or related ones. The name change excuse is lame at best. The only comparison between the 2 is that some people will not mail the flyers back in to report on their cars. Other than that they are completely different. JD Powers randomly sends out surveys to people who own the cars...they attempt to get a diversified sample. CR does not...they simply survey their subscribers.
  18. I dunno...from my perspective the Lucerne's powertrains are a gigantic eyesore. Probably the only really big flaw of the car. The V8 is nice but I'm sure they could squeeze more power out of it and the V6 is pointless. No not because of its design but because it makes 197 hp in a 3800+ lb car. It should also at least have a 5 spd. On the other hand, Buick's primary clientele is older people who I'm going to guess don't put much emphasize on performance. I'm not sure in these times whether a base V8 would sail well with them. I won't criticize GM management too much because I'm sure they did the research. You can't always predict what people will buy. I thought the Scion brand would have flopped completely but I was wrong.

The Element hasn't been a dud...but I have no doubt the H on the hood has more to do with its success than anything.
  20. CR's ratings are worthless.
  21. Looks good...hopefully it won't bomb the real world MPG figures like every hybrid to date. I'm not holding my breath though.
  22. Only with Toyota are recalls considered a good thing. Jeez...talk about a double standard.
  23. Snate replied to a post in a topic in Honda
Well luckily for Honda...nobody buys their cars for style.
  24. The ads they are running down here have 1K off the new Camry. I've also saw 2 shiny new 07 Camrys at the local Enterprise. I've only see 2 or 3 on the road so far.
