  2. I love these cars absolutely LOVE them. BUT As a kid growing up in Europe I was conditioned too think BMWs = perfection.... same as M.B. I will admit as much as I LOVE these BMWs, without their hardtop greenhouses I'd be much less interested in them AND I DO think they are a little Euro-Quirky. Like (not to give Balthazar Ammo) the tacked-on front blinker on the 3.0 CS Still I love it.
  3. Thanks to all, wife decided to override all of my attempts... So I just completed system restore this AM under her incessant nagging... er... kind advice.
  4. Vehicle A & B both sound great and repulsive depending on one's perspective. I'm quite enjoying driving my wife's/our BMW 7-series while I continue cleaning it and fixing up little quirks to make it ready for Julie's maiden voyage in it... then it's hardtop Benz time for me again!
  5. Camino: Why the heck do you NEED a new car? In this economy....? Use the money thusly: 40% to finish all your projects 20% to purchase a couple firearms 40% to buy ammo for said firearms! We aint seen 'NOTHIN yet! It's 1929 all over again... fine: 1930. When 1933, 1934 & 1939 arrive a new car will be as worthless as a nice cold beer to a drowning man.
  6. Still way cooler than a Honda!!!
  7. Hmmm... Well so far I've been unsuccessful. I've tried the following: CNTRL + TAB + UP ARROW CNTRL +SHIFT+ UP ARROW and about seven dif. combinations of the above & directional arrows. Damn Gateway... damn cats.... gotta run off to work. Thanks, and yes I thought worst case I'd do a system restore but I'd like to learn howto just undo this silly mess manually.

Okay. So it's no secret that I'm not very Komputir savy. I used to mess around with software & hardware back a million years ago when I was in High School & College. These days though I'd much rather read about how to install my BMW's 'cartridge struts' or overhaul a Nailhead 364 than anything with a microprocessor. Trouble is, my retarded cat sat on my laptop's keyboard. She does ALL the time... except this time she managed to rotate my screen 90* on my laptop's primary monitor. I run a two-monitor setup so I've just been using the other one but I can't replicate the keystrokes or undo the changed setting. Windows Help shows nothing under "rotate display" Anyone got ideas or the solution? PLZ/THX
  9. I guess it's pretty cool. Though I've seen cooler towers done oe off by gamers. (day-glo-clear plastic tubes w/ blacklight built into base & such)
  10. CARthedral (minor bonus points if you can spot the VW bug) Shark Theme: usually = EPIC_success and who can forget "CATBUS"? Who was it that posted that on here...?
  11. I know it's an important safety feature in a RACE car but those tall roll bars look so goofy in a tiny little 1960s British roadster. First thing I thought of too.
  12. Exactly (Camino) Another product of over regulation! Look at my 1984 Mercedes (Gray market import from Deutchland) And compare it to a USA-spec. '84 M.B. Those sealed beams in a bucket... I'll be nice and call them awkward. Of course for all the same reasons the typical '84 GM car is no better.
  13. no... sadly my namesake "Sixty-8-Panther" was sold to finance my purchase of the 1964 Olds Super-88 4-door hardtop which I in turn sold to a gentleman in the Netherlands so I could buy my 1959 Buick which is now patiently waiting for me to get the 364 nailhead motor back together... it's been over a year.
  14. Sooooooooo HOT, Soooooooooooooooooo HOT. Want to touch the shifter. [/b.Madison]
  15. Well said O.B. Still these days, the curve being what it is, even a '74 I6 250 powered Camaro looks like an alright car as compared to most of the Hondas & Toyotas on the roads & in dealerships.
  16. LoL @ Balthy. I do find the 3200CSa tad awkward but I love the 65-68 CS. Also, while I find the RX-4 quite charming I'm 100% with O.B. as far as the scale model comment. Look hard enough at late 1960s & early 1970s Mopars & you will see the TRUE inspiration for the Madza RX-4. Random google search find that was too delicious to leave out.
  17. That sucks. Although do not assume it's too deep/hard to be accidental, many people are just THAT stupid/oblivious.
  18. Wow... I had no idea. So damn cool.
  19. First off, I just mentioned this car in another thread, but I thought what the heck, why not post some of my favorite lesser known hardtops. Not the typical, well known '57 Bel Airs, '59 Cadillacs & '70 Challengers, (I love those too) but the weird, off the beaten path stuff you might not have EVER seen before, or perhaps you saw one but it was 7 years ago at a car show. Here goes: 1.) 1965 to 1968 BMW 2000cs Be still my heart! The later 1970s cs/csl coupes were quite beautiful as well. 2.) Going even FURTHER back in time: 1962 - 1965 BMW 3200cs A compact, slick looking car that had a V8, four on the floor, two door hardtop... and it predates the Mustang. And yet, it's GERMAN. 3.) 1974 Mazda RX-4 hardtop coupe. I love the styling on these things... if only modern Japanese cars had anywhere CLOSE to this much personality.
  20. Name it. Good luck, you'll need it.
  21. Hahahah... I've always loved the swing-up doors that BMWs have. No worries of tall curbs damaging the lower door edges. The mini-skirt thing I've heard about a few cars.
  22. I suppose you could say I'm on a BMW kick. This morning I saw an 850 ahead of me in traffic, first 850 I've seen in months, and I almost followed him home to ask: "You wanna trade your BMW two-door hardtop for a Mercedes Benz two-door hardtop?" I'd like to tell you I stopped myself because if I'm going to go for broke to own a BMW hardtop, it will be a 1960s 2000CS. http://bringatrailer.com/2007/06/22/restor...w-2000cs-coupe/ Anyone got $25K I can borrow...?
  23. XP715 is prob. one of only four or five people that has ever seen a good chunk of my Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Majorette, 1:36, 1:24 & 1:18 car model collection. They're all in great shape, NOT beat up. About 70% is at my parents house, and of that only about half is still on "display" in glass cases. That still makes over 3000 pieces.... As much as I love my collection, I don't think I will ever have the time or money to properly display it all at once. Some times when I do the math of how much I've spent on all of it I kind of wish I had saved my money instead since I'd have a good downpayment on a house.
  24. Trucks are not about leather seats, rear seat DVD players, GPS, MP3 player plugs & center consoles. Trucks are about GVWR, bulletproof motor, indestructible transmission/transfer case/rear end. TRUCKS are BOF. They are about CAST IRON, not "lightweight" or exotic materials. TRUCKS are about 6 or 8 lug wheels. TRUCKS are def. NOT about spare tires in the lockable trunk-in-bed. well said.
