The only gun control that would have helped here would have been the ARMED CIVILIAN who would have gripped their 9mm firmly using both hands & filled this prick full of hollow points and saved the other dozen+ people! Well, yes. Fluoride in the drinking water & Mercury through vaccination.

Bathazar beat me to the punch, although lets not forget that before the V8 Cadillac introduced another innovation: the FOUR cylinder inline motor, back when may cars were still 1 cylinder powered. I was pleasantly surprised to find an even MORE advanced version of my 1997 STS's computer DIC in the BMW 735iL, it's not as user friendly but certainly beat Cadillac to the punch in 1988 but offers less info. than the Cadillac. Also the six cylinder BMW cost $53,000 in 1988. --- The 1967 Eldorado was a game changer, as was the original CTS-V. In a way those two cars are an example of Cadillac coming full circle.

Oh, and for the record, I've seen BOTH J-bodies & Corsica/Berettas with over a quater-of-a-million miles. a friend' sister had over 288,000 miles on a mostly original late '80s Beretta and the only reason why it did not go past 300K is because the kid se sold the car to beat the $hit out of it drag racing some Ricer on the highway. FYI: it was a relatively rare 2.8 V6 w/ a 5-speed.
  7. You know what's WAY worse and more disturbing than the 1980s C!marron? The 2009 Cadillac BLS. Or as I like to call it, Saabillac BulLShit. Tht was then, it was the 1980s and FWD was all the rage. Snow tire technology was nowhere near today's quality, traction control & ABS were just being birthed. BUT in modern day, post transverse mounted No*, FWD STS and ETC, in the era of the 300C, gen.5 Camaro & Challeger, when the CTS-V is a car most mortals would choose over a BW or Mercedes in a "blind taste test" on the 'Ring... there's NO EXCUSE for FWD, grotesquely proportioned & ugly as hell to boot Cadillacs. NONE. If you ask ME the C!marron is actually charming 27 years later, and I guarantee the mere promotional shot of a BLS in two or three decades will still make me want to puke. The BLS makes the Catera look like a Audi S4 or BMW M3 by comparison. Exactly.

  9. This car was supposed to be just a concept. Then it was decided, due to the overwhelming demand that a thousand production copies would be built. In the end, four years later, 8,000 copies came into existence. The doors are very unusual, while they were made unique in order to accommodate an unorthodox chassis, not unlike the 1955 M.B. SL300's, they were, in some ways the exact OPPOSITE of that car's "gull wing doors". Also, it had a SOHC powerplant. 170 H.P. Good Luck.
  10. Oh... If we're going to strech the definition to Daewoo then I've never owned a Suzuki or Subaru either. It's a shame GM sold off their shares in Subaru and yet kept Saturn, SAAB & Hummer.

  12. I'm proud to say I've never owned a Geo. I've never owned a GMC, LaSalle, Marquette, Oakland or Hummer. oh, and I forgot Holden, Opel & Vauxhall. I have driven a couple Opels. nothing exciting... just modern day rental cars in Slovakia/Austria. Never owned a Saturn, had a SAAB once though SAAB & Saturn are not REALLY GM in my eyes. Never were, esp. SAAB. The terms "off-shoot, subsidiary & parent company" come to mind. --- On a related note the last three German cars I've bought, with my wife in mind each time, have been distractions from my quest or another Pontiac. I have not owned a Pontiac in too long. A pre-war Pontiac is my current semi- obtainable pie-in-the sky dream.

  15. '61 Bubbletop Hardtop Chevys are sweet and natrually the Impala is the best looking of the bunch. Other "under-rated Chevy cars/trucks?" ...as of current era? - Silverado 454 pickup of the early 1990s. - C4 Corvettes - last gen. B-bodys, yes the Impala SS is worth good $$$ but there's not much lacking in a much cheaper low-mileage 9C1 or even a clean LT1 powered Caprice Classic. - 1980s Elaminos can also be had for pennies on the dollar.

I'll agree that it's prob. a '74-'76 sice it appears to have a B-pillar... & not just a thin strip of rubber insulation, but how come no one is mentioning the possibility that it could be a Pontiac, Oldsmobile or IMO the best guess, a '74 to '76 Buick LeSabre two door colonnde coupe. (Possibly Electra)

I learned that even thought you can drive a BMW in a blizzard at 110mph and maintain safe traction with a good set of snow tires, there's no effin' way in hell your windshield wipers can keep up, therefore the lack of viability makes it dangerous even on a mostly empty highway. And I also learned that while interchangeable mechanically a blinker stalk from a 1992 BMW 525 will be slightly out of intuitive reach if installed on a 1988 BMW 735iL.... it's usable but a bit awkward for the first few miles.

The after market notchback was a much LE$$ expensive way to replace the hatchback if the glass was broken due to stupidity, vandalism, minor accident etc. Also, a buddy of mine had the 80% fiberglass & 20% glass "notchback" rear to save weight since it shaved quite a few Lbs. & few ticks at the dragway ver the heavY!!! glass. My '83 Firebird T-top had blown struts back there and I can tell you that damn gigantic glass weighed AT LEAST 40Lbs.
  20. For us GM/V8/RWD fanatics the G8 GT & by extension the entire once proposed Zeta lineup was like the second coming of Christ... I too am in love with the G8, I'd buy one if I could afford it & make custom 'Catalina' emblems for it since I hate alphanumeric names on American cars. It works on M.B.s & BMWs & less so on Audis & even less so on Lexus vehicles, any manufacturer who does the ME TOO move of adapting them like Cadillac & Lincoln just end up looking lame & desperate. ----- I remember very well, the scene in the movie "Face Off" where Nick Cage, as the alpha-male pure-evil bad guy, gets out of the BLACK/BLACK Cadillac STS at the airstrip, his trench coat flapping, I was already smitten with those cars & that made me want one EVEN MORE. And 6 short years later I DID own one, albeit 5 years old, and "gently" used.
  21. I know of several Buick fanatics in my neck of the woods... they're some of the smartest, ingenious & resourceful of all car guys. One in particular has owned some muscle cars that most mortals can only DREAM of, like a '70 GSX, GS ragtop, (actually like 4 of them) as well as a few Grand Nationals, all recently, and all the while the wife is driving an Impala SS & his summer time daily is a NEW Corvette Z06 that later got traded for a brand new '06 GTO.
  22. Exactly. Princess Di died in a M-Benz S300 that hit a CEMENT pole at over 100mph, and she STILL would have lived had she had her seatbelt on... and the car did NOT rip in half. That 6-series BMW, seriously, was probably doing 115mph when that accident happened, or at LEAST 80mph. That story is certainly not accurate!
