  1. better mpg than the buick..um.. "small car"? can't remember it right now. lol
  2. wait, wrong section... please move.
  3. got a netgearwnr3500L... and my win7 desktop can't sleep and bring the network back up when it wakes up. gigabit both sides, didn't have this issue with an old belkin. think it could be drivers?
  4. just doing some ratio power figures, even if the 6.2L hits 400hp (hopefully more like 420) the 4.3 should hit 300hp with 300lbft also, if not be close.. ....why can't this be the "hybrid version" with an updated 2-mode? --only kinda serious about this....
  5. i'll chime in *insert pic of chime* http://www.imdb.com/...0424060/ close to my age too.. 1 1/2 years iz gewd.
  6. i saw this "The engine lineup will include a choice of either a 4.3L V6, 5.3L V8, and 6.2L V6 all wearing the EcoTec moniker. All of the engines will come with direct-injection, variable cam timing, and cylinder deactivation." and i said, to noone,... "uhhh, what?" lol

i'm betting the 3.1 made them quite fun, but also nose heavy. but not like we don't expect that anyway. lol

for those that aren't my friends on FB. moved to Mt vernon IL, working for national railway equipment company as an electrical eng. just started last week.
  9. anyone read/see RP's farewell to congress? i read most of it, would like to see his speech. slow internet keeps me from that.
  10. once we make electricity production much more dense, using power to do this will become a non issue... like if we want electrolysis machines in our homes to power a car with fuel cells ....or whatever. Olds, i was kinda surprised by your failure of basic chemistry... of imagining a reverse combustion equation. no offense.
  11. 2 more things to look at what the differenc ebetween amd and intel with.. intel is one node ahead, amd is going 28nm next, and then maybe 20 in 2 years, not positive though. and bulldozer was "hand drawn", pile driver was mostly extension addition, and the .use of the 3rd party tech for ~10% less power or ~10% faster....as far as the less technical people would care about. iirc in 2 more years the design will be computer aided, maximizing space usage. it'd be like moving the design to the next node. it's exciting, but also a "why couldn't you do this before"?
  12. I agree, the bulldozer architecture obviously has problems in single threaded apps and ones that don't use the latest and greatest extensions.... but it is also the last gen for the high performance proc. w/o a gpu in it, supposedly. but also you're mixing target audiences i think...."most people" don't need an i5, and certainly not an FX chip.
  13. "as life get's longer all of it feels softer and it feels pretty soft to me" the curse of being "civilized" is "kids" take to long to realize they aren't superman, aren't always popular, and shouldn't always get want they want.
  14. cool story.. not too surprising though....

    hahahah
  16. less meal time to sit and talk while we eat... it prolongs the eating meaning your intake after you're full to the point you're full signal hits you is less.
  17. when they give their bulk entry car something competitive (corolla) like a 6 speed and more than only the 1.8L, then "we" might sit up interested again, maybe not for the styling, but because maybe they are moving forward (and not just with the prius, or lexus)
  18. another captiva, red, texas plates.
  19. GPU tests were allowed to be loose in the wild today. http://www.anandtech.com/show/6332/amd-trinity-a10-5800k-a8-5600k-review-part-1/5
  20. chevy captiva, white, yesterday. in SE missouri. it's a canada car, right?
  21. i understand that argument. and after vishera(piledriver FX) amd won't have highend only CPUs for the consumer. most of programs right now use 2 threads, some do use 3-4, and that's where gamers/highER end would go with an i5, true quadcore. when intel can actually get ahead of amd in graphics, and not just because of a manufacturing node advantage, then AMD will be sunk on the C(entral)PU, and consumers will cry. (except intel fanbois) the "APU" evolution does seem to have caused intel to slowly turn their boat. is maxwell(?) does indeed 2x the performance of IB, then intel wil have something to combat their weakness to amd with... for the time being. you do know "bulldozer" can keep up with SB, almost (i think), in video rendering, right? as programs are coded to the design, it will shine... sometimes trying to jump ahead does make one falter, on purpose, or accidentally.
