Oh, I thought the one that wore panties would be the Prius driver.

After living with one for 2 years, it has only reinforced my belief that the GTO IS Pontiac and everything Pontiac stands for. It only took the Australians to get it right. I have never heard any complaints about the styling, only compliments. The GTO is European/Australian Muscle car. Low, wide, solid, but understated. BMW built their entire company on that concept. Don't insult me by compairing it to a 90s blob or a Cavalier.

Please, open your eyes. It's much easier to see that way.

It represents the best car GM made at the time I became a member here. I have owned 5 Pontiacs, and 1 Chevy(because I couldn't get the Pontiac I wanted) It's the same reason I don't want a Dodge or Ford. Too mainstream, they need to cater to the masses. A Camry, not in my lifetime. My next car will probably be a Porsche. Other cars on my list are the G37 coupe, 370Z, 335Ci, and A5.

Nope, don't want a Chevy. For some of us, if there's no Pontiac, we're not buying GM anymore.

GM ready to let Opel go for free?
If you listen to PCS, GME has been running the show. They will now just be running a smaller show. That wont make the show better.

It's like having a 2008 Malibu, 2008 Lacrosse, a 2010 Cruze, a G8, a GTO, and choosing to restore the first 3, and send the GTO and G8 to the scrap heap.

That's my point about the Solstice.

I disagree. GTO, looks like it evolved from the Grand Prix, and the G8 looks like it evolved from the Bonneville. The Impala, both generations since 2000, don't share any similarities with the G8. Neither does the Monte Carlo and GTO. And I thought everyone always said they Sky looks like a Chevy, not the Solstice. But I guess now the Sky and Solstice could fit as Chevys? I guess the Miata could even be a Chevy if you remove the badge. Hey why not the S2000 too.

Freddie Mac CFO hangs himself
Don't blame the banks for that. The 2 top banks in the country didn't want the money, it was forced on them. BofA most likely wouldn't have needed any money either, until the Merrill Lynch deal was forced on them. I believe they saw the losses and wanted to back out, but they weren't allowed to. The govt probably just told them to buy Merrill Lynch, and we will give you the capital you need if you need it. When they got the additional 20B, everyone put them in the same boat as Citi, when they really were/are not the same. The govt is playing both sides. Forcing the banks to do something against there will, then directing the anger of the public towards the banks for doing it. Could that be a source of stress for CEOs and CFOs?

The ONLY reason I bought a Malibu, is because I couldn't afford a Grand Prix at the time when I was 18 and had no credit. And just because ONE person bought a car because of an engine, doesn't mean the other 500,000 sales Pontiac was getting a year were for that reason. Why does Toyota need a Prius? If the Prius is cancelled, those buyers will just buy Camry Hybrids wont they? It doesn't make sense to have to market a separate car when they could have spent that money making the Camry Hybrid better. Right?

Impala and Regal were not nearly as sporty as the Grand Prix. Buicks were made with 1 finger steering for the 65+ crowd, and Impala wasn't far behind in that regard. The Grand Prix felt more solid, steering was better and handled much better. If the Grand Prix was a Buick, the older set would have complained about the ride being too harsh, just like what happened with the CTS for the 03 MY.

Freddie Mac CFO hangs himself
The Merrill Lynch deal was basically forced by the government, and Ken Lewis is taking heat for deceiving shareholders, even when the government forced him to be quiet. Some of the CEO's should rightfully take the blame. What I don't agree with, is when people say all bank CEOs are crooked, and ALL are to blame, because that is not true. There are always going to be ups and downs, it's inevitable. The better run banks will actually be stronger because of this. There is actually some good coming out of this depression also. People are paying down credit card debt, and there is change starting in peoples spending habits.

Freddie Mac CFO hangs himself
How many CEOs of the banks that were bought by other banks kept their positions? Which bank exec was that? I follow the sector closely, and I haven't seen it.

Sadly, I have expected this from GM. As such, about a year ago I started to buy non-GM vehicles, so that when Pontiac is gone, there would be less of a transition for me. Without Pontiac, I will never buy a GM vehicle again. GM-converting American car fan to non-American car fan one tens of thousands at a time.

Pontiac G8: "Audi level interior"
We don't have a pure capitalist system. Hong Kong is more pure capitalist than the US is.

First 100F degree day today
I don't like when it rains here. It makes the air smell like dirt. It's not like the fresh smell when it rains in MA. That, and it stays humid for about a week after it rains, and as soon as the sun is back out it's into the 100s again. 100 degress with humidity is not fun at all.

Try having a broken A/C in your house in Arizona. Someone is coming to look at it today. Hopefully it will be something that can be easily fixed. My house was 90 degrees inside yesterday.

Pontiac's fate to be decided in 2010
Too bad GM doesn't get it, by setting their projections at 50,000 the whole time. It seems like they have to come up with unrealistic expectations just so the bean counter in control of products will give it the green light.

Buick Said to Weigh Expansion as Other GM Brands Fall
It's kind of ironic that Chrysler has the number of brands the govt and everything thinks GM should have, yet Chrysler is seen as being to small to be on it's own. How big do they think GM will be once it is Chevy and Cadillac only? Then GM will be too small, and will need a "strategic partnership" to become a viable company. In Feb, Chevy, Cadillac, and Buick sold 88,000 vehicles, while Dodge Chrysler and Jeep sold 84,000 vehicles.

Buick Said to Weigh Expansion as Other GM Brands Fall
And Chrysler has only 3 brands, but they are losing sales too. So maybe it's not the number of brands determining the outcome, but some other factor?

drastic sales swings
I like VW and dislike Toyota. So this is good news to me. Isn't VW still bigger than GM in China also?

Fiat gives the middle finger to unions

Pontiac's fate to be decided in 2010
Companies will probably find a way around it anyway, because that's what people want. All they need to do is put limits in the PCM, someone buys the car, has the PCM flashed, and you get the HP back.
