wagons don't sell. Maybe BMW should have cancelled the X3 and X5 and made a 3 series wagon and 5 series wagon. My wife would never let me buy a wagon anyway.

Wasn't it offered in Saabs, just with 260hp instead?

It was still one step forward, and one step back. No real progress was made. There is no compelling reason to buy the Cadillac over other companies offerings. It's just a Lexus RX, with less performance, more weight, and different style.

So I guess only Theta is allowed to have better interiors?

Why couldn't they have just made it smaller and lighter on Sigma, removed the 3rd row, gave it the same improvements on the inside, and made it look less like a tall wagon? Then even with the torqueless 3.0L they could probably still have been in the mid 7 range, with even better gas mileage. Are GM's platforms really that unflexible? If Infiniti can make a whole line of vehicles of all different sizes on one platform, why can't GM figure out how to make Sigma as flexible? If it is really that unflexible, then why did it cost them so much to develop it?

So now they might test drive the SRX, but one step on the gas and the test drive will be over. 16.3 and 16.7 in the 1/4 mi? Isn't a 4cyl Malibu quicker than than, or at least not far off?

So the old SRX was longer, wider, taller, with a bigger engine, and RWD, yet still weighed less? How is this a step foward?

Other than being a GM fan, why would anyone choose this vehicle over it's competitors? What will GM's strategy be if this SRX flops like the last SRX did?
  9. What are you basing that on? VW is doing pretty good with their diesels, and they always have better resale value than their gas versions of the same car. Who else has offered a diesel in a car besides luxury brands in the past 10 years? Whats not to like about V6 power and better than 40mpg? It sounds a lot more appealing than a hybrid with 0-60 times of 11 seconds to get the same 40mpg.
  10. Zeta is fine to share, just like the FM platform is fine for Infiniti to share. Camaro is the equivalent of the 370Z. I don't see any Infinitis on the Maxima or Altima platform though. Sharing Epsilon with Cadillac is a completely different story, isn't that supposed to be the market Buick is going after anyway? Cadillacs small car should be on Alpha, which needs to be rushed. They don't need to copy Lexus with the ES, Buick is supposed to chase that market. Why get rid of half your brands, and still have overlap?
  11. Infiniti and Lexus don't really share too much with Nissan and Toyota, at least not here in the US. G35, RWD, Maxima and Altima are FWD, FX series, RWD compared to FWD for the Murano. M35/45 isn't shared with any Nissans. The only one shared is the platform used in the Armada. Lexus only shares platforms on the ES and RX. The rest aren't shared with any Toyotas here in the US. BMW doesn't share any, and Mercedes doesn't either. BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, and Infiniti are all Cadillacs top competition too. Unless they want to compete with Lincoln and Acura only, they need to start basing cars on Zeta, and hurry up with Alpha instead of basing cars on Epsilon.
  12. I have never seen ANY ad for the G8. I have seen Astra's parked in shopping malls for drawings though.
  13. I did have a battery die in my GTO in the middle of August 2 years ago. I tried jumping it but it wouldn't even hold enough charge to get started. But thankfully it is a manual so we were able to push start it so I could get to Autozone to buy a new battery. I decided I don't like being stranded in 115 degree heat so I spent $200 to get an optima battery. Everything else I've had to fix wasn't heat related though, like a cracked piston in my Grand Prix, and having the EGR passages get plugged up in my Mazda 626.
  14. Yes, working on cars in the summer in AZ is definately not fun. I've had to do it a few times. Why does it seem like everything breaks in the middle of summer instead of the nice cool months?
  15. How is that any different from the marketing for the G8?
  16. NFL: Patriots NBA: Celtics MLB: Redsox
  17. I've actually started to really like the Grand Cherokees, and I have considered getting a used one. With this insane program I don't think I'll be able to find any cheap ones in good shape.
  18. I still don't understand why the engines and transmissions can not be resold by the junk yards if they are in decent condition. How does that save oil? The car is crushed anyway, meaning it wont be driving anymore. The engine will sit at a junkyard until someone comes along with a car with an engine in worse condition, and buys the engine to replace their engine. What next, ban companies from making replacement parts for used cars that get less than 20mpg so they will be forced to buy a new car?
  19. Yes, just read the article, he tells you why he doesn't say what the drag coefficient is. He said they have tested other companies vehicles and were not able to get the same results as the other company claimed. So if another company claims .28, but GM tests that same vehicle and gets .32, and GM tests the volt and gets .29, why would they release that info? For people to look at the numbers and think the volt is inferior, when it actually did better in their tests?
  20. What I don't get is why these vehicles are having the engines destroyed, then crushing the vehicle. What about all the other people who drive a poorly maintained 70s or 80s car and can't afford to buy a new car even with $4500 cash from trade in, which pollutes probably 10 times more than some of these vehicles being crushed? Some of the engines being destroyed from these trade ins might be better than the ones that are staying on the road. Why aren't these engines allowed to go to junk yards?
  21. AWD helps in acceleration, which could be a reason why the Porsche won at the ring. If you said that, it may be accurate. It may be able to accelerate out of turns better, but that doesn't mean it handles better. Let me be clear. I'm not disputing that the Porsche won because it's AWD. I'm disputing that AWD makes a car corner better, which it does not.
  22. So you deny weight has a big effect on handling? Also, RWD oversteers, FWD understeers, AWD possibly does both.
  23. Road and Track got .87 for the CTS-V and 1.1 for the Corvette. The only car they beat the Corvette with, was another RWD car, the ACR Viper.
  24. Wet sump simplicity — While the CTS-V's engine is similar to the new Corvette ZR-1's in that it's a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, it's not the exact same engine. One of the big differences is that the ZR-1 runs a dry-sump oiling system, while the Cadillac uses a conventional wet-sump oiling system. "The CTS-V simply isn't capable of the lateral loads the Corvette can generate," the source explained. "It's heavier and has smaller tires." The manual isn't as fast — "The reason you see John wave at the beginning of the video," another anonymous source told us, "is because (ride and drive engineer) Aaron Link is right behind him in a manual-transmission CTS-V." Link, an excellent driver in his own right, simply couldn't keep up with Heinricy and throughout testing, the automatic has proven to be the hot setup for this car. "There's video of Aaron's run, and he's incredibly busy" an insider told us. "Meanwhile, John barely moves."
  25. The ZR1 does 1.1G. I doubt the CTS-V is anywhere near that.
