If you intend to be on the side of the taxpayer, then why are you inadvertently supporting natural gas and biodiesel, which have infrastructures that pale in comparison to the electrical grid, and will need billions upon billions of dollars to even compete?

So you want the market to sort it out? How? That's impossible. Natural gas and biodiesel infrastructure will need major government subsidies and inputs. Electric infrastructure already exists in like, 95% of habited areas. It's wiser of the states to incentivize electric cars which will require fairly minimal taxpayer subsidization, as opposed to rigging up several new infrastructures and creating the necessary regulations just to please this notion of 'free markets.' People are returning electric's because rental's are typically used for long-distance travel or for business trips. Neither situation is good for an electric vehicle and those are the two primary reasons of why rental vehicle agencies exist. That's why it's bizarre electric vehicles are even are offered by these agencies. It's not that electric's are bad. It's that electrics don't meet the needs of a typical rental car consumer. Electrics = good. Bad businesses decisions = bad.

Because it's bizarre that electric cars are actually an option for rental agencies. Plus, they're charging major premiums for their use. Electric's don't fit in the business model for rental car companies. That's not an electric car issue.

I broke down and got Nova Launcher a couple weeks ago and it is an impressive piece of software. I even splurged on a nice icon pack. However, because I have a Note 2, some of the unique features of the phone are 'lost' with the new launcher. I guess I can't have everything. But at least the navigation doesn't ask me to drive into an aircraft runway.

Windows Phone 8 is a cool OS, though I'd probably wait for the Nokia 1520 which is expected to have a four core CPU, and an HD resolution, plus a 6 inch screen. The 1020's camera is incredible but the 1520 will have a 21MP shooter. But the Samsung is likely the more practical choice just because the app ecosystem is better. But Sammy's UI is pretty bad and you might be better off waiting a little bit for the Nexus 5 if you want Android. If you don't need specific apps, the Nokia might be a fun pick.

Hybrids are not electric cars. They still require fuelling-up and the perceived fuel savings are dubious. They can't be used as a future predictor of electric car sales. Self-driving vehicles will likely be electric at the time of mass release. Many people hate driving. I wouldn't be surprised if self-driving vehicles, and by extension, electrification, mirrors the rapid adoption of computers/smartphones.
