Mercedez Benz News Hello 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class
Why is cache so important? Hyundai isn't having much trouble selling the Genesis or Equus, even though their reputation was just above 'garbage' barely even a decade ago. Cadillac needs money. Why not build what people want? They did a good job giving people what they wanted with the SRX. Why stop there?

Why not take it a step further and make it a continental initiative? It would save a lot of confusion if all of North America adhered to the same automotive/emission standards, fuel blends and licensing programs. Mexico would likely be left out, but commuting between the US and Canada would become far easier if both countries' residents had licenses/ID that let them cross borders. Also, many Americans would like to travel to Canada but can't because they have no passport. This would eliminate one barrier.- GM Economist: Prices Are Making Young People Not Buy New Cars
I don't buy his 'economic,' argument. I think he's saying that, only because it's a slightly easier pill for him and other auto-industry stakeholders to swallow, when the real reason IS because youth aren't interested in cars. Investments in cycling routes, mass transit and dense, 'town-square' development models are all starting to make car ownership a redundancy. In some cities, like mine, it's already happen(ed)ing. Cars used to be aspirational because they were a ticket to freedom, aka, keeping in touch with friends. With instant communication via smartphones, the aspirational quality becomes a moot point.- Pontiac G6 GXP a real Halo car...
So who was the lucky winner of this monstrosity? And did they kill themselves like the Halo series killed itself?- Car Audio Help/Recommendations
I'm in want of a better audio system in my 1990 Sierra extended cab. Right now, everything is stock and I'd like to see if anyone here can give me a hand on how I should go about replacing the system, as well as give me some recommendations of speaker types and brands that I ought to consider. From what I understand, I'm looking for a new head-unit and four speakers - two in the front of the dash and two in the pillar. But I have no idea where to start and whether I need an amplifier or if I'd like a subwoofer or not. Also, I'm unsure about wattages and how they play into things. Most of my music is primarily rock/acoustic so I'm in no need of huge bass, though some decent low-end is always welcome. This is meant to be a system to just listen to music from my phone or handle hands-free calling, so I'd like to keep the budget fairly modest. I'm in no hurry to buy right now, so I can wait for good deals online or in-store. For example, these Polk Audio's look pretty good and are on sale, but I'd like to know what I'm doing before going ahead and making any purchases. Lay it on me!- stop the bs
I thought Satty had made an appropriate return. My hopes were dashed.- 2013 Cadillac XTS Platinum
A year or so ago, I would've agreed that the XTS is a placeholder. But now I'd say it's Cadillac's 'Phaeton,' and there's nothing wrong with that. Its high-tech atmosphere and smooth, pleasant ride makes the vehicle a 'boulevardier' for someone who is wealthy, but not ostentatious. Great review!- 23 replies

Ol' man DeLorenzo is pining for an era that doesn't exist any more. Cadillac doesn't need an Ultra-Lux model when wealthy individuals are picking up 3's and E's. If Mercedes couldn't make a successful Bentley beater using an existing platform and engines from the S, I doubt Cadillac in its current condition would do any better. The focus should remain on the CTS and ATS, as well as keeping the SRX fresh. I'm a little upset that I'm not seeing more ads for the XTS, as I think that car should be heavily promoted towards the 'Phaeton crowd' who like luxury and technology, but with an understated sumptuousness.- Server?

http://www.kongregate.com/games/rete/dont-$h!-your-pants Game of the century.- Playstation 4
The Xbox One had a couple very good ideas. I quite liked the game-sharing feature, even if publishers would've pushed hard against it. Also, I'm probably one of the twelve people who thinks the new Kinect will be ready for prime time. Developers are realizing that Kinect shouldn't be the focus of a game, but instead, augment the entire experience. Games would remain controller-focused, but a game with squad-based play could use hand motions to signal orders, instead of using a menu. Or a game like Thief or Amnesia could read heart rates and change the experience. But like anything Microsoft, the good ideas are bulldozed by a combination of poor marketing, bipolar attitudes towards the consumer base and internal corporate combativeness. Much of the consumer backlash could have been assuaged if MS was honest and didn't give complicated answers to simple questions. People who buy used games and care about DRM constitute a minority of nerds. They just happen to be very vocal and spend their lives online. Instead, MS chose to be opaque, and these people were able to run circles around the company's communications.- Dodge News: Rumorpile: Farewell Dodge Caravan?
I'm guessing FIAT's logic is to have a single car brand in the end, consistent with Hyundai or Mercedes, and have RAM be exclusively for trucks. That isn't a bad idea, although shuttering an identifiable brand like Dodge does seem like a waste. I thought FIAT initially intended Chrysler to occupy a higher-tier and have Dodge be the everyman brand.- Playstation 4

I know we have some dealer-linked people here so maybe I can be helped out. My dad wants a 2013 Avalanche LTZ. We live in Canada, and therefore, the pricing is terrible. So we're looking cross-border to save ~20 grand. We've contacted some dealers already but none will play ball because we're Canadian. Even when we say that one of our Amerifriend's can do the purchase, the dealers still clam up. My dad has procrastinated on the purchase, stock is dwindling, and his list of preferences is fairly specific. I'm posting this to see if there's someone here who wants to make a sale. Or potentially help us arrange one.
