  1. Wagoneer. 4.0L inline six + deluxe accomodations. Front end ensemble reminds me of my old '65 Ambassador.

  3. 1960 Massey Ferguson 95 Super. 7.0L inline six diesel that's governed at 1500 RPM. This thing could tug your house right off if its foundation without raising a sweat.

    See, I wasn't kidding--the plane in the background is the Lockheed L188 Electra, a 4-engined turboprop that began its career in 1957. I flew on one of these circa 1965, between Denver, CO and Sioux Falls, SD. A few L188 Electras are still in use today, usually for fire-fighting.

    Yeah, what Cubical said--the 14 Impala is far better looking than the Taurus. I especially like the front quarter of the Impala. Hope you can still get an interior with wood-tone trim.
  15. Dopey question--what was the last year that the Impala came with the 3.5L or 3.9L V6? I may go looking for a used one...
  16. More I look at it, the more the 2013 looks like an unholy offspring from the mating of a Subaru Legacy sedan and a Toyota Crayolla. Yikes.
  17. One thing I liked about the outgoing Sentra was its upright seating position for the driver. Almost like being in a circa 1950 Chrysler product, but with much more supportive seating. I also liked the torquiness of the 2.0L engine & CVT combo. It really impressed me. Have to go check a 2013 Sentra out and see if the seating position is still good, and if the 1.8L has decent snap. I ain't nuts about the 2013 styling, but I wasn't nuts about the outgoing model, either.
  18. 1965 Olds Jetstar I (though I'd love a Starfire too). According to the brochure, the Jetstar I came with the same 425 V8 as the Starfire for '65. 1995-'99 Buick Riviera with S/C 3800. My mother in law had one of these and it was a real gem. How 'bout a '61 Biscayne sedan? Yeah, very boring--but so is a new Camry. At least with the Biscayne, there were all kinds of powertrain options and color choices. Plus you could take the carburetor off, rebuild it, and have the car back running again in less than an hour. Even the most basic sedans back in those days had a lot more character and variety than today's clone cars like the Camry & Accord.
  19. OK, this time I definitely pick the AMC. Look closely at the front fender of the Matador, you can see the "401" badge. This was also the first year that AMC used Mopar's Torqueflite auto tranny to back up their own excellent engines. The Montego is vaguely interesting but I don't know if the 429 was still available in the intermediates for '72? I love the Cutlass but I gotta go with the AMC this time.
  20. Those Imperials were pretty amazing. A few years back, I came across a 1961 LeBaron 2-door hardtop with 12K original miles on it. Car had lived most of its life in Georgia and was spectacularly clean. Fell in love at first sight but couldn't ante up anywhere close to enough scratch to bring it home. *sniff*
  21. One wheel on this thing would cost more than what my entire car is worth. Saw it sitting in a dealership in downtown Chicago, along with some assorted RRs, Bentleys and other miscellaneous cars that I'll never even sit in, let alone own.
  22. It was kind of fun. You could split shift the thing, just like if you were in an old twin-stick Mack ('cept I don't think you had to double-clutch the Mitsu version).
  23. I've been around Jeeps all my life; learned to drive in a '48 CJ2...I have to say I actually like the Compass in its current iteration (!). Besides the CJs & Wranglers up until the current generation (too big for me), I really liked the 1984-2001 Cherokees. Especially those 1987-2001 models equipped with the 4.0L inline six.
