Just saw a '78 Coupe DeVille go rolling by. It looked to be cherry. It was brown, with a vinyl roof and the wire wheelcovers. I didn't have my phone with me so couldn't get a pic.

330 CID V8
I avoid that kind of crap ("interfaces"). I know that makes me seem a luddite, but there ya go. I use computers and smart phones all day, every day for work but when I get in a vehicle, I simply want to sit down and go without lots of monkeying around just to turn on the defroster.

If it were 1974, I would have taken the Matador with 401 V8. Those things were quick. But since it's 1975, I took the Cordoba. Clean looking car that was reasonably swift with the 400.

2012 Nissan Quest LE
Great. A big, expensive, heavy tub with puny cargo space. Yeah, I know the Quest is designed more as a luxurious people mover but...oh, forget it. The minivan market left me in the dust awhile back. I loved my '89 Grand Caravan LE that weighed 3200 lbs. The second and third row seats were easy to remove and you could hall a small mansion's worth of crap back there. It was comfy and reasonably zippy. We replaced it with a '96 Voyager SE (SWB) which was similarly comfy and practical, though it weighed about 300 lbs more than the '89 had. Sorry, who wants to hear my history? C'mon gramps, get with the program. Well, suffice it to say that I don't think there's anything "mini" about today's minivans; they're huge barges and they're spendy. P.S. Nice review, Mr. Malley. Sorry I blew up.

Late to the party...Yup, must be a 230 under the hood, unless the V6 emblems disappeared back when the repaint occurred...but that would require the little holes to be filled in as well. Hubcabs look like circa 1970 to me...

Kind of makes sense...my daughter is legally blind and of course she generally depends a lot more on sound than do fully sighted people. I sometimes go into technology overload when it comes to modern vehicles...probably like my dad did when they first started offering automatic transmissions and *gasp* power steering.- 330 CID V8

Yeah, that 350 V8 was essentially a Plymouth motor and it was available only for 1958. It was part of the B-series family that also included the 361, 383* and 400 CID Mopars engines. That being said, the 350 V8 may have been available in the 1958 DeSoto Firesweep model (which featured a Dodge front clip). I'll have to check to make sure. --------------------- *One bit of trivia: the 383 used in 1959 and 1960 Chryslers was a different animal than the 383 used in the Plymouths, Dodges and DeSotos. The Chrysler 383 engine was an RB (raised block) with a longer stroke and smaller bore than the B series 383 (3.75" stroke vs. 3.38" stroke of the B-series 383). The RBs came in 383 (1959-60 Chrysler only), 413, 426 and 440 form. After 1960, all Mopar 383s were the shorter stroke B-series version.- The Year Is: 1969
I took the Fury--with the provision that it has the 375 HP 440 V8. Same powertrain that allowed the big Dodge Polara to hit 147 MPH. The Fury is a bit smaller and lighter. I almost went with the '66 Ambassador because I'm such an AMC fan. With the 270 HP 327 V8, it was pretty quick. I had a '65 Ambassador and it was a very comfy car, and well put together.- AUGUST 2012 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD!
1939 Ford COE- 330 CID V8
56 Chevy is my favorite of the 5-6-7 Chevys. I had a 55 coupe with a six/3-speed. Really liked that car. I'd love to find a 56 base 150 coupe like my 55 was, only equipped with the 265 with dual quads & 3-speed w/OD. My 56 was a 210 4 door hardtop with a 265 & Powerglide.- 330 CID V8

Woke up in a cold sweat because I'd forgotten some engines: Plymouth had a 303 CID V8 in the 56 Fury (poly head) How could I forget Caddy's 429? Similarly, how could I forget Pontiac's 428? Hope I can sleep better tonight. And curse this smart phone.- Displacement sweet spot
I can think of one right off the top of my head: Olds 425 Mopar 426 Chevy 427 (also Ford) Ford 428 Ford 429 Buick 430 (Lincoln & Mercury had a 430 back in the late 1950s too) Oh wait, does this work?: Buick 300 Pontiac 301 Ford (or Chevy) 302 Olds Rocket 303 AMC 304 <<On edit, I think IHC trucks had a 304 V8 too.
