Look Ma, no B-pillar!
Well, he does have a point. On cars with suicide doors, one of the big advantages is ease of ingress and egress, since you don't have a pillar in your way. Obviously, this benefit was lost on the Lincolns of that era, which was a really stupid oversight. Of course, I don't think that the presence of a B-Pillar is enough to ever make or break a car. Sure, there have been a lot of gorgeous cars posted here, but they'd be beautiful with or without a b-pillar. Aye, it seems like, over the years, true luxury innovation has given way to electronic excess. (See: iDrive, Phaeton) And the irony is that, in this age, the standards that measure the amount of luxury in a car cares a lot about plastic grain, and not at all about whether it has a hardtop or flip-out windows. Still, I'd much rather have a more efficiently-packaged, safer, better handling car, even if it means the rear windows don't roll down. I prefer coupes anyway, and don't drive with my windows down.

You know, there are very few comparisons between two cars that make both automakers look like asses. This is one of them.

Autoextremist: Peter M. DeLorenzo
Sure he makes some bad points, but he also has plenty of good ones. But what this longer version makes me realize more than his usual short rants is that he's a really bad, repetitive writer. I'm only halfway through it all and I'm just amazed at how many times he's used the term "drink the corporate kool-aid."

Hundreds gather for Williams' funeral
If there was anyone who committed crimes worthy of execution, it was him. Still, the guy seemed to turn his life around and tried to make some good of it, and that deserves some respect. I have a really hard time believing a person is so irredeemable that they deserve execution. That being said, having the whole gangsta crowd there really undermined the whole thing. One more dead, and still no lessons learned.

Stupid Ford and their stupid "we don't need as much power to be competitive" approach.

Word Of The Day
I find it disturbing when people make criticisms of others that apply to themselves as well, and remain clueless about it. PS: Did NOBODY like my pun?

Gemballa Avalanche
Well GM wouldn't need the rights to use the name overseas. Big trucks and SUVs aren't exactly world cars.

Word Of The Day
For the sake of actually using it as a brain teaser, I'll give it a try, with a conversation between a couple hicks. Bill: What's that you done to yer IROC? George: I got a turbocharger for it! Bill: How's that work? George: Hell if I know, but disturbin' sure does make it scoot!

Boneheaded design elements
You make it sound as if the two are mutually exclusive. And yeah, cupholders are a pain in the ass. My Mustang only has one, and it's too small to use most of the time. They tried to fix that, but left them too shallow, so when you turn, it tips over easily. I think they finally remedied it on the third or fourth try. But the worst case of cupholder idiocy is in my brother's Toyota Tacoma. The front cupholders pull out, but are located above the radio controls, so if you're storing drinks, you can't change the channel. And the back ones pull out from under the seat and are located under your feet, so you can't actually sit in a seat and use its cupholder at the same time. Really, it makes me wonder if any of those engineers actually tried driving the truck when they were designing it.

King Kong
Yeah, Peter Jackson is a special effects genius. Even in his older stuff (well, Dead Alive, the only one I've actually seen) when he had basically no resources, he made brilliant use of what he had. The key to his work, that sets it apart from people like Spielberg and Lucas, is that he doesn't let the special effects overwhelm the rest of the movie. His work still has heart to it.

Mercedes CL AMG! Spy Photos
Eh, I really don't like the new look for Mercedes. I love the present/outgoing style, which may be too soft and feminine for some, but I think is beautiful. The new models are just taking those exact designs and throwing in sharp lines and creases, and ending up with a very Korean-looking product.

Semester's over!
I've still got two final exams, a speech for a communications class, and a paper to write. The next few days should be fun  , but at least my hardest exams are out of the way.
