I've loaned cars to H.S. students I've known and not had a problem. Even loaned one I knew was responsible my Miata for two weeks strait. It came back washed, waxed, and full of gas. I can see why you didn't loan the Z, but to me that is why I drive modern cars with insurance. Something happens, State Farm writes a check and all is O.K. Chris

Buy it for the scrap value, for real. You laugh when I talk of the price of scrap, but that's an easy $350 at the local scrap metal yard. It would also be a cool car to take Ice Racing... Chris

I so much more like a clean look with a nice set of rims and clean, well detailed paint and interior. There are Honda's I like, but the sad thing is that of the ricer movement one of the biggest (and cheapest) up grades would be to just wash the damn car, make sure that it's all one color, and clean the Burger King wrappers and coffee cups out of the damned thing. As far as car spotting goes, for me it has been Jeep, Jeep, Jeep. Jeep. Lots of nice late model prev. generation Rubicons and Unlimiteds, I saw 7 (Yes, SEVEN) nice examples of CJ-7's (one looked superb in silver)(Another one was lifted and on 38's). Also, CJ-8 Scrambler, two of them, including a very clean original blue one. To top it all off, my teenaged daughter had to go down to the Ohio/West Virginia Border to meet some friends. Lots more Jeeps here too. Checked out the 4 Door wranger interior on the local Jeep lot. Oh, and saw a couple of old 50's Willy's jeep wagons in an old junkyard. Nothing like being able to pop the top and doors in summer! If gas wasn't $3.49 per gallon for midgrade I'd be having a Jeep in the driveway. Chris

Interesting also to see what the ecotech does in terms of real world MPG with American drivers in the Astra. (Yeah I know the Astra is a 1.8, but it is the same basic motor, right? Or am I wrong on this one....?) Chris

Our 86 Cavalier (manual 4 cyl) got 42/43 on the highway a couple of times, and Cobalts with manuals can puyt out good fuel econ. #. The other huge advantadge that the Cobalt has is the extra torque in an auto to turn an auto tranny, as 97% of these things are auto. Chris

I've seen a couple, but very, very, very seldom see these. Always wondered why people didn't just collect the 64-65 Bu as hard as some of the later models. Clean 64 two door hardtop lives just up the road a bit from me....blue on blue....nice car. Chris

Other than the new GT-R, (and maybe the 350Z, although it isn't my cup of tea) could Nissan build anything any uglier? IMHO Nissan just needs to go away. With products like these I seem to find myself hating Nissan about as badly as everyone else around here hates Toyota. Chris

In my 66 Mustang Fastback, I dumped HOT HOT HOT coffee all over myself once, no cupholders. In our Safari van my teenage daughter was driving and she got on the gas a little hard, the HOT HOT HOT coffee still went right on my lap. Even with cupholders. Either way I get screwed! Or rather, not for about 4 days after until I had healed up... in both cases. Maybe like the Astra ad says I shouldn't mix multi tasking and driving. Chris

They are trying to do the right thing but the important thing is to learn from your mistakes. I remember Toytoas rusting Badly when I was in high school in the 80's, seems like in some ways they never did learn.

It had the benifit of sitting in a farmers field for 30 plus years. I think I told you before about the guy who collected like 600+ Pontiacs from the 60's and let them all rot in a field around here? That was one of those cars. My only point was that no car is ultimately immune...and that Ohio cars seem to rust like no where else. Outside of the Library the other day I saw an IROC Z from the late 80's that was rusted almost up to the rear window. However, I'd guess that Z would be on the road about another 20 years when it finnally was as bad as these Toyotas. Chris
