Chevrolet Debuts the New Malibu
Orlando has this feature too, works well, saw it on one of the floor models at the autoshow. I like the shape of the rear body by the door, but I'll wait until I see the back end. Otherwise it looks good. Still concerned about the interior and the strafes, hopefully they will be a different color than just gloss black on the production model.

Cruze Steering Wheels fallin off ??
Chevrolet is recalling something like 2500 cars just to be sure but they think that that was the only car with the defect.

Zoom?
Just read the full story, and aw man does that suck... Talk about a quirk of fate. A Mini wouldn't be an awful choice mind you...

46.2mpg! + Cruze Eco in future?
Give it a DI and a Twin Turbo and they could bump down the displacement again and replicate the power of the 1.4T maybe?

Chevrolet Teases The New Malibu
If we're going to address specifics with a goal of improvement, we need to get the details right. • The trunk is NOT disproportionately small nor shallow. The trunk cavity is sized very appropriately for the size of the car. What IS an issue for some owners is the trunk opening, which due to the tapered roofline, is relatively small. This only affects large, rigid items, tho I note that my son's 2x12 combo amp (22"x27"x11") slides right in (along with 2 hard-cased guitars and other gear). If you are trying to put something larger in, perhaps you need a larger car. But trunk volume is quite respectable. • Headroom is fine for me & we're the same height. • wife is 5'3"- she has no complaints about the beltline whatsoever. "Catastrophically" is without question an overstatement... unless perhaps you were talking about people 5'0" and shorter. The trunk opening is a valid complaint (again- depends on what you're normally packing), and another is the rearward / 3/4-rear visibility. Sailing C-pillars are the culprit there- price paid for style. I personally would like the car to be AT LEAST 3" wider, but that's also not a 'catastrophic' situation. For the record the Cruze and Malibu have the same trunk volume... Cruze has gooseneck hinges though.

Chevrolet Teases The New Malibu
I think you mean just the GP then. Interesting...is the GP back seat so bad because the rear interior height is reduced because of the low, slanty roofline? Don't think I've heard similar complaints about the other late Ws (Impala, LaCrosse).. One thing I hate about my Impala is that you can't get your feet under the front seat when sitting in the back (this was somewhat rectified in the 2009 new seat), the Regal is actually, I find, more comfortable out back despite the loss of an inch of wheelbase. The W-Lacrosses we've rented didn't have any of these issues and I found it to be by far the most comfortable of the three.

Wow, based on that description you really lucked out then. I'm sure this one will last you a good long while.

2006 Impala Help
That's true... I couldn't drive around with my briefcase on the passenger seat for that reason in newer cars. It's probably just as well, lest it become a projectile in an impact... I just tuck mine behind the drivers seat when I drive.

W-body Grand Prix
Check the seals and for leaks if the car has lower mileage for the age... We got burned on this with the Regal, and some of the seals are suspect on the 3800 SII especially if the car isn't driven a lot. Spent a ton of money after we bought it replacing a front seal, an axle seal, the oil pan gasket etc... it was leaking oil (albeit slowly and barely noticeably) like a colander because it was driven so infrequently (40k miles in about 8 years). So far the intake manifold gasket is just sweating but I'm keeping an eye on it so it can be preemptively fixed as soon as it starts to go.

2006 Impala Help
My Impala beeps randomly if you drive around with really low washer fluid... also see if there is a message on the driver info center about anything, perhaps an airbag service message. Also beeps. The sensor in the passenger seat could also be messed up and detecting weight in the seat. It also beeps if you drive around with a passenger who isn't buckled.

Your Project Plans for this Year
I've got to probably put a new serpentine belt my Impala, and I think I'm going to redo the clips on the Regal's center console... some were loose when we bought the car and I have to take it apart anyway to fix/replace the stupid spring-loaded cupholder my brother broke this winter.

We also know that this segment lives and dies on comparisons to the Camry and Accord, which offer V6 engines. I'm just sayin'...

Chevrolet Teases The New Malibu
I've certainly got my concerns... No Six-pot, Hyundai evocative interior based on spyshots. As for exterior styling- it looks promising but I'll wait to see what the show-car brings in the "flesh" so to speak.

I think I'm going to make this year the year...
Right color combo, price and mileage... if only it weren't 2500 miles away.
