  1. Your Camaro comment is very wrong - not even close. Even if it were, there were other reasons why a Camaro could not have happened at the time the SSR was done. The two have nothing to do with each other.
  2. If built, a new El Camino would almost certainly be built in Australia. Unless GMNA decides that it needs to be radically different than the Holden Ute, its low volume production would not make sense at a GMNA plant.
  3. OK, I grew up on NASCAR. I understand what the article is discussing, and I used to enjoy Cup and Grand National racing. My earlier rant (above) stems from two things. First, I no longer enjoy NASCAR-style racing because of the way it is currently done. Secondly, from the new Pony/musclecar perspective I don't see a tie-in to NASCAR as a good thing for the production cars or the manufacturers.
  4. That's the one.
  5. It would seem you have not read the story in question, but I'm sure you know it.
  6. Was made into a movie with a different title than the original story. The "he" in the quote was dead shortly after leaving his footwear.(maybe simultaneously) The title of the story is not the title of the book in which it is found.
  7. No, 68 didn't get it. need clues?
  8. SCCA TRANS AM!!!!!!!!!! Forget Nascar - purpose-built race cars with no manufacturer DNA just makes me want to Once upon a time, they really were based on stock cars and the manufacturers really meant something. But now Nascar is something else entirely and manufacturer involvement is little more than money. We're not talking about Richard Petty and his contemporaries running hot versions of Detroit's latest iron anymore, the Nascar of today is just a huge cash machine.
  9. Thanks,Fly. If we were walking through that place, I'd be peppering you with more specific questions. I still think someone is playing loose and fast with the term "profit". Maybe it would be more accurate to say the facility provides a "small rebate" to the Air Force.
  10. Fascinating place. I'd visit. All sorts of questions come to mind. How many planes? How much did they originally cost? What value do they have now? Ultimately, what will happen to them? How the hell can this place turn a profit? The text of the e-mail indicates that it does.
  11. In this story a car has a mechanical problem right at the start of the book. 1) what is the mechanical problem? 2) what kind of car is it? 3) what story? Hint: this is a quote from the story - "...officious, officious little prick"
  12. "hell hath no Fury..." Good memory,68! Wrong story,YJ.

    It's a good read.
  14. Why isn't this in heavy rotation already?!!
  15. Camino LS6 replied to Bimmer325's topic in The Lounge
That could certainly change the picture. If the drivetrain is trashed, along with suspension damage, it's probably over. Nothing but a numbers game now - you may be better off if they do total it. Keep us posted.
  16. "...knocked him spang out of his keds." Wherefrom?

Have you guys read "From a Buick 8"?

Pretty solid hit, but I doubt it's a total. Hope it all works out for you.

    Dark Tower?
  20. *sigh* I know,I know...
  21. Nah, your trivia question just reminded me of the brochure I had stashed away. I don't get why you can't see it.
  22. This is from a 1970 GM accessories catalog. I guess GM was planning an open air M/C.
