1996 98 Regency vs. 1999 Intrigue GLS...
1996 Olds 98 Regency, 43k original miles, $5,995: vs. 1999 Olds Intrigue GLS, 58k original miles, $7,990: Assuming you were in the market for a used car and were considering these two, which would you choose and why? Any pros & cons of each would also be helpful. TIA!

Question about uploading from your computer
I noticed when I wanted to upload my pictures recently I was unable to upload them from my computer. Over a week ago while I was at work I could do this; from my computer at home I can't. Anyone know why?

2007 Carlisle All GM Nationals
Camino, it sounds like a plan. I'll try to get some info from Carlisle within the next week or two on club participation. On a totally separate note, here's a picture of a DIVCO (milk) truck I took inside of HERSHEYPARK: Of all the DIVCO trucks I've seen, none have been as large as this one. It's part of a singing "Milk men" entertainment group that performs in the park (didn't watch them). It caught my attention and I thought maybe some others here would enjoy seeing it too.

The last Monte Carlo was made today
(taken at the Carlisle Fairgrounds All-GM Show on 6/23/07) My parents had a '95 Monte Carlo LS that was pretty nice, and my dad kept it for 10 years. I wasn't too crazy about the M/C when it came out in 2000, and it was due to the headlight design mainly. The 2006 redesign caught my attention, but having a family with a 22-old month toddler means a 4-door is a necessity. I will miss the 2006-2007 Monte Carlo SS in particular, as I thought it was the best looking of the line.

2007 Carlisle All GM Nationals
Thanks! There were over 150 that I downloaded from my digital camera's memory card. Those are only 46! Thanks for your concern! Yeah, I didn't get home until later Monday night; we stopped by my parents house on the way home (the "kids" bought them some goodies from Hershey) and my mom told me about the accident then. What a nightmare - 3/4 people dead, a loss of 4 vehicles, and the PA Turnpike closed for a long lenght of time. Boy am I glad we didn't have to go home from Carlisle. That would explain the traffic that I experienced getting off at Harrisburg/exit #247 to go to Hershey. There was a long line of traffic on 283 North and also on 322 East. Well Camino, I can't take on the full responsibility alone, but if you're willing to help out, how about we co-chair the event for 2008? I'd love to see more GM owners/enthusiasts here get invovled in the show. We'd have to decide whether the participants would enter their class (i.e. I'd park my SKY in the "SKY" catagory) or if we'd be in a non-judged car club area. We'd have to start working on it in the fall/early winter I guess. What do you think?Ocnblu, my mom had a triple burgundy (burgundy exterior, burgundy half-vinyl top and burgundy cloth interior) '83 Grand Prix LJ that I absoulutely loved (she kept it until June '93; it had 70K on the clock). That was one strong car! There's one similar to it I pass from time-to-time in Moorestown that has the T-top option and looks like it needs work. One of these days I'm going to stop and see if it's for sale!!!

More....- 2007 Carlisle All GM Nationals
I was there on Saturday, and since it was the beginning of a three-day getaway, we had an early start (and thank God too, as I missed the accident completely). Before I post my pictures below, I want to add a different perspective about this show. To put it simply, I was disappointed. If you're a Camaro or Chevy fan, then this show was for you. Most of the rest of the GM brands didn't have a great following. Out in the showfield, there was one '57 Olds 98 coupe, one '07 SKY Redline, one Solstice, just a handful of classic GMC Trucks... and this was on Saturday, the main day of the show. I told my wife I should have entered the SKY - I would have taken either 1st or 2nd place!!! The same sentiment was felt by the '57 Olds owner... when I told him he'll be taking 1st since there was no other competition in his group, he replied, "Where's the fun in that?". Even in the vendor area, they could have put all of the vendors in three or four rows rather than spreading them all out. In the T-Building where the Camaro Convertible Concept and invitational cars were, it was predominitely CHEVY (I understand that the '57 model year and the Bel-Air were the guest, but the only other '57s were a Caddy Eldorado and an Olds 88 sedan). Even GM only showed Chevy cars from it's heritage collection... there are other cars & trucks they could have brought too (like the Pontiac G8, Buick Supers, Yukon Hybrid, etc). I got the feeling that this show is losing it's interest outside of the Chevy folks, which is a darned shame because how many other large all-GM shows are there? I know next year I'll definitely be taking the SKY, and I suggest that many of us C&Ger's that attended the show this year do the same. We can even enter as a club. How about it guys??? About the brand new vehicle displays... there were more than in the past, and this is a good thing. The Saturns (OUTLOOK, SKY RL, AURA) were from the local Saturn dealership (in Carlisle). I spoke with several of the sales staff and Saturn event staff there - I had my Saturn hat and a SKY t-shirt on, so they started the conversations with me! They were impressed that not only did I have a SKY, but an AURA too. They were disappointed that I didn't enter the SKY, as they stated there was only one in the whole group (competition). Over at the Chevy event tent, I test drove the brown Silverado Crew Cab LTZ 4wd Z71... I have to say I'm very impressed with the way it rode, performed and felt and my 13 y-o stepson was impressed with the rear seat comfort. It makes me want a Sierra just a little bit more than before going to the show. As for the other brands, the wife liked seeing the Acadia and Enclave pretty much side-by-side, and she still likes the Lucerne. She sat in the OUTLOOK and likes the Lambdas all together, so I forsee getting a Sierra won't be happening any time soon (but I'm an optimistic person, so who knows?). Overall, it was a beautiful day with unseasonably great weather (all past shows have been too hot, humid, and in some cases thunderstorms and rainy). For a Chevy show it was great, but for a GM show it needs to get better. Enjoy my pictures, and feel free to ask any questions you have about them. Btw, how many of you saw the swarm of bees at the wooden tables behind the Grandstand? There must have been a 1,000 of them! There was a nest under one of the tables and someone must have disturbed it. I quickly got out of the way since I'm allergic, but a half-hour later the ground crew had the area sprayed and taped off - no more bees!- 2010 Pontiac Firebird or GTO?
Well, as long as a convertible model is offered, I'd be happy (assuming I like the design). I love my SKY and would like to keep it a long, long time, but honestly a 4-seater convertible would be much more practical for my family (and would get driven more). I like the new Camaro, but not enough (atleast yet) to part with my SKY. I attached a picture of someone's Trans Am chop - if a convertible version of that car was available, I'm sure the SKY would have a "For Sale" sign on it waiting for my ordered T/A convert to arrive- Question on Aura Wheel Option
The mystery has been solved... while waiting for my AURA to be serviced, I cruised the lot and low and behold there were a half dozen AURA XE's with the GTP 18" polished rim. Taking a look at the window sticker revealed that this rim is part of a factory "Special Edition" XE package, in which leather (black or morroco brown), leather-wrapped shift knob & steering wheel, heated seats, and the 18" rims are included at a discounted price. There was no print info (brochure) available; this must be a "spring" promotion, much like what Chevy has been doing with the HHR, Aveo, etc.- Happy Father's Day to all the daddies at C&G!!!

From my experiences attending the All-Truck Nationals on Fridays, you won't see many showfield cars/trucks on a Friday. If you're going to primarily see the GM display(s), Carlisle Invitational display(s), and vendors, then you'll be alright. There will be vehicles in the show fields, just not as many as on Saturday (I think many plan just one day - Saturday - for this event to showcase their car/truck). I do the truck show on Fridays, as there is another show in Macungie (PA) that I value a tad bit more on the first Saturday of every August.Again, I'll be there on Saturday with my family in tow.- Carlisle All GM Nationals
Scott's discussion session last year was filled and it was a worth the hour of my time spent at this part of the show. For the woman in your life, if she's like mine she'll claim she's being dragged to the show, there's the "Women's Oasis": undefinedhttp://www.carsatcarlisle.com/highlights/oasis.asp For the small children in your life, there's the "Kids at Carlisle" area:http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/highlights/kids.asp I know that the wife will spend some of the time at the Women's Oasis and then take the little guy over to the kids area, which allows me more time to cruise through the vendor & car corral areas without her watchful eye Here's a link to the gallery of winners from the 2006 show.- Carlisle All GM Nationals
It appears as if it will be another great year for the All-GM Nationals; check out the link below for a list of event details: http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/gm/details.asp I can't wait! This is definitely one of the better shows I attend all year (how can it not, seeing as it's a GM-only show!!!).- Question on Aura Wheel Option
I'm going to my Saturn dealer tomorrow for regular maintenance on the AURA; I'll check the lot to see if they have any AURA's with the G6 GTP rim as pictured in Satty's post (2nd pic). One theory is that it could be a leftover item, now that the GTP model is no longer going to be offered, that is being distributed down to the other divisions (much like when the Buick Century started showing up with the Intrigue's chrome rims). The first pic that Satty posted is the optional aluminum rim for the XE models, and they sure do look like the same ones my dad has on his 2006 G6 V6. Pontiac offers this rim (RPO PFF) in 17" size, which is the size rim & tire that comes on the AURA XE models: But I don't see it listed in teh AURA's online guide for 2007 OR 2008, nor the GTP's 18" rim.- Carlisle All GM Nationals
The All-GM Nationals starts this Friday, June 22 and ends on Sunday, June 24 (all Carlisle events, if I'm not mistaken, are Friday-to-Sunday.- Some final pics of the CTS
Oldsmoboi, you have to let me know how the SwapaLease works out and if you were satisfied with the process & experience.- Vanity plate ideas.
Oldsmoboi, there are a ton of Saturn SKYs out there with that license plate... go figure, right?!?! It would be fitting though, as the wife has stated that the SKY purchase is really the limit for me (no more than 3 cars)... which sucks because there's easily a million more I could possibly see myself owning. The cost alone of auto insurance, not including the monthly car payment, is enough reason to not add any more to my small fleet.- Carlisle All GM Nationals
Camino, I'll be there on Saturday (6/23) with the family in tow. After the show, we'll be driving back to Hershey to spend Sunday in the park. We always make this weekend a getaway with a trip to HersheyPark, and this year we're adding Dutch Wonderland (Monday) on the way home for the little guy. If you're there on Saturday too, maybe I'll bump into you. :AH-HA_wink:- Antique Truck Club of America Classic Truck Show, Macungie, PA 6/16/07
