GM delays new Buick shipments on quality concerns
Already saw a Jewel red CXL at a local dealer. Very nice. Hopefully they get things sorted out before they get to the customer. They sometimes seemed a bit lousy at that with Saturn new model launches.

September Car Spotting Thread
Saw what I think was a Burgundy '38 Buick yesterday. Caught my eye at the last minute though so I didn't get to look it over real good.

RAV4 Owners Fume Over Toyota’s Handling of Transmission Glitch
Yes, whenever I look at any RAV4's interior it makes me wonder how domestic cars could be so chintzy. And remember this is coming from somone who has an '03 VUE for comparison.

Toyota accused of destroying and hiding evidence
Of course if it was Dateline doing the testing some C-4 may have been involved.

Transmission bled all of its fluid and stranded me.
Depending on the vehicle, it could have popped a quick-connect cooler line fitting apart. Somewhat likely if the trans was out not long ago and the original fittings were reused.

Toyota accused of destroying and hiding evidence
Conveniently for Toyota their evidence was all inscribed on Tacoma pickup frame rails.

Silverado rear ended
Nah, the kids will just dump it on the floor anyway. The program cars here in FL are good example of that. Some of the dirtiest year-old cars I've seen, usually a Carfax will show they were a rental in Orlando.

Silverado rear ended
Really? Even my '95 Achieva has this foldout thing with two kinda crappy cupholders in back.

VIN check on NADA
Annual registration renewals from some states and service visits at some dealers show up as "records" on the Carfax reports. Sometimes the filing of the certificate of origin with the state DOT/DMV and the actual issuing of a title will sometime show up as separare events as well.

Anti Theft
I know what you mean. Many look too much like cheap toys than real equipment.

Anti Theft
No aftermarket stereo and no visible extra stuff inside always helps too.

Vue vs G6
...and heavier. and if you take any trim off of it and flip it over it will have a Daewoo symbol on it.

Sebring and Avenger are IIHS Top Safety Picks
The Chris-Craft hood and "fake" roofline at the C-Pillar don't help the Sebring either.

Anti Theft
Seems like it would work. It looks like the car needs to have Bosch style relays though.

How many miles
Usually 50-70K driving lots of highway. I just put pads/rotors on the VUE this week though at just under 90K, and the old pads looked like they still could go to mabye 110-120. The rotors were starting to get pretty warped though and several Iowa winters in the past have made them look like crap, so both just got replaced while it was apart.

Silverado rear ended
You may also need the attorney to make a claim for reduced value if your state requires a damage disclosure statement when a vehicle is sold. Usually the states that do that require more than $5K in damage to be disclosed on a form at sale.

Idea #2
Either the Cav or S is a decent buy used, and both are easy to work on.

Vue vs G6
The VUE can be good or crap depending on configuration. The G6 is more consistent. IMO, with either body style an Ecotec/4T45-E FWD is probably the soundest VUE offering overall, offered '05+. The VTi used in some '02-'05 2.2L VUEs was quite possibly the worst automatic transmission ever. RUN from one of those. I'm not a huge fan of the the GME 3.0L V-6. Has an oil-to-water oil cooler between the cylinder banks that's expensive to repair if it leaks That said, I really like my '03 VUE 2.2/5sp. The interior is somewhat cheap. It was a decent interior for me at the lower end of it's price range, but but not so appealing if paying nearly $30K for a loaded version. '06+ dash is quite a bit nicer. '08+ is very nice but lost quite a bit of legroom in the rear seat. I still wouldn't mind having an '06-'07 w/ the Honda 3.5L someday, although a few of the Honda trannies have come back w/ a torque converter shudder here and there. Goes like stink though and still like the plastic + boxy look.

Used Tires
Good Idea if you can swing it right now. The Hans like to cause vibration problems. The Firestone FR710s that replaced the Hans as OE for '09 might also be worth pricing out.

Craigslist has paid off! My new car is a...
Coker Tire probably has whitewalls if nobody else does. Their tires are pretty expensive though.

Wierd thought for the day...
Like the Vega, they've probably all had bigger motors dropped in by now. :AH-HA_wink: Seriously though, I have only ran across one Scooter and it was a plain jane white gasser.

Info On Oil Filters
Check the actual filter before you buy. When was selling Saturn parts some cases of the AC Delcos for the Ecotec started coming with filters made in Bulgaria as well. They were an OK looking filter but not nearly as nice looking as the previous Purflux and Hengst OEM'd filters, and they didn't snap into the the cap nearly as well. I snapped up a case of the USA made Hengst produced filters shortly thereafter.

Info On Oil Filters
Motorcraft IIRC at least used to be the same filtration as the Purolator PremiumPlus, but somtimes with the red silicone anti drain back seen in the PureONE instead of a black rubber one.

GM Design: Oldsmobile in the 1980s
The coupe has the Buick upper too. The GA had a bit thicker C-pillar and smaller quarter glass than the Olds/Buick.

Info On Oil Filters
Then there's AC-Delco, which these days is a crap shoot, although I often still by them, just from habit I guess. Sometimes it's made by AC, sometimes a WIX, sometimes the STP/Super Tech type filter. The ones on the Ecotec have been about four different kinds so far as well, mostly foreign brand stuff.
