The electric sliding door system is a total piece of crap IMO. Other than that they were OK, not really outstanding though. A few other smaller things I saw working at Saturn: The Front wheel bearing/ABS sensor did need replacement on a few, was a bigger deal when American Axle went on strike for a few months. Had to replace the radio and/or DVD unit on a few as well. And the front rotors seemed to warp easily. If you decide to get one, the '07 came with the 3.9L standard instead of the 3.5L. The Buick w/ leather is the nicest looking inside, followed by the Saturn IMO.

Kinda wierd that a CVT is required to get the "Trail Rated" version as well.

I assume they have fixed the early issue with some of the third (?) synchros burning up at low mileage? I also like the Pat as it is one of a select few small utes that IMO doesn't look Korean and/or like a total chick ride. Hearing of issues with the early manuals turned me off though as I still could not trust a CVT after working at a Saturn retailer and seeing a number of VTi VUEs have a $6K tranny meltdown at less then 100K. The Jatco CVTs have held up in the Nissans somewhat well so far though.

A local news program showed the Kia dealer with a rare Dakota convertible in its "clunker" row. One of the national programs was showing several rather decent looking Astros/Safaris awaiting death as well.

Interesting considering that Buick's MPG is too high to qualify, and that these days Honda sells the "gas guzzlers" (Ridgeline anyone?), not Buick.

You'll be fine. You can even switch between conventional and full synth. without issue. Also, about ~80% of a Synth. blend is from the same base stock as SM grade conventional oil IIRC, so to the engine it is not all that different.

Almost none of which will be taken on the road by this program. Those people largely cannot afford new vehicles. The vehicles being destroyed are likely cleaner and/or more efficient than those true "clunkers" out there.

Supercharger was on my mind 'till I saw that it is a '92. Probably becuase I just replaced the S/C coupler and an idler pulley on my mom's '99 GS a couple weeks ago to quell some extra noises.

Very nice. Rear tint does a lot for the looks of an SUV. Not a bad deal either IMO. I think I paid $90-ish for just the two rear doors on the VUE when I bought it, as it looked kinda strange with the rear three windows factory tinted but not the rear doors.

If you are so inclined, it wouldn't hurt to remove the belt and see how each of the pulleys spin by hand. Also, does the noise change or dissappear between the A/C clutch being engaged or not?

Yeah, the dealers advertising it the loudest around here are Kia, Toyo, and Nissan. One Toyota dealer is sending postcards to those whose vehicles "qualify", so they must have even bought owner info. just like those shady extended warranty peddlers do.

Didn't get a pic, but while driving through the Honda dealer's lot in Daphne, AL last weekend I did see a "clunker" that would break the heart of many here. It was a pretty decent looking gold '91-'96 style Roadmaster wagon with the "wood" paneling and IIRC the skylight too. They also had an 80's G-body cutlass but at least it did looked ready for crushing, unlike the Buick.

Red Robin is good, but a tad pricey IMO.

Never had White Castle. Seems to have quite a following with some people though. Here in the south we have Krystal which is essentially the same thing though and its OK, their tiny chicken sandwiches are much better than the sliders though IMO.

Checkers isn't too bad either. Culver's is really good fast food, but their still only in the midwest AFAIK.

Dome Lamp Replacement (Sedan) Removal Procedure: Insert a flat-bladed tool between the lens and the headliner. Remove the bulbs (1,2,3). Slide the lamp housing to either the left or the right and pull downward. Disconnect the wire connector. Installation Procedure: Install the wire connector. Install the lamp housing to the headliner. Install the bulbs (1,2,3). Install the lens until the tabs are fully seated. If you would like a scan of it w/ the drawing shown, PM me your email address and I send it to you.

I'm still thinking alternator, mostly becuase of the blower speed varation, especally if it speeds up when the engine speed picks up (?) My thought is that an alt. with a diode problem can cause odd electrical behavior if it is allowing some AC current leakage. The result is that the alt. then produces wavering, noisy DC power that can upset the signal from any sensor whose normal output signal is in the form of an AC sine or square wave. The and input/output speed sensors on electronically controlled auto trannies in particular, and possibly the VSS in your case. The reason the blower speed would vary also is becuase the alt. also has less output if one of the diodes is not doing its job anymore. Besides monitoring the voltage output across the battery at various engine speeds, If the Prizm has the Delco alt., it may be producing a faint but discernable whining noise that may also bleed into the AM radio reception if it has such a problem. Some places that load test batteries/alternators have a machine with an oscilloscope-like function to check such a condition as well.

The Prizm used a VSS IIRC. The Suzuki-built Geos were prolly the last GMs to still have speedo cables.
