I'm wondering why they are dragging the V8 LaCrosse intro out so long..the GP got the V8 in MY 05 and the Impala in MY 06..

Vanilla always outsells other flavours. The Civic is too wierd for some buyers, so the Corolla is the more conservative choice..

The Escalade is ok as a truckish luxury SUV, but for a luxury SUV, I find the X5, ML, Range Rover, and Cayenne much more desirable..the Escalade's gaudy 'bling-bling' image is just a big turn-off to me.

This reminds me of the great scene in 'Office Space' with the printer.. I'm a computer guy....I enjoy working w/ computers, networks, and developing software, but I HATE printers. I have nothing but trouble with them... At home, at work, and on the system my company builds printers seem to be nothing but trouble...our application sometimes has to print 30-50k documents at night at the client's site, and it's a monster commercial printer, but there are frequently problems with it at night--hardware, software, and with the Adobe rendering engine we use for PDFs... I'm glad I'm not on production support for it..

I couldn't imagine having a car w/o A/C anywhere in the US except maybe Alaska...everywhere I've lived (Fla, Oh, Mi, Ill, Co, Az) I've used the A/C. I haven't had a car w/o A/C, power windows, power brakes, power steering for 20 years. To me, cranked windows in modern cars seem like a feature from the automotive past--as out of place today as features like AM radios, carburators, live rear axles, BOF construction, etc. would be, IMHO...

Interesting...I heard last month from my brother that he heard that one of the new ethanol plants is likely to be built near where he lives (Gnadenhutten, Ohio).

I could see the potential of GM benefitting from Nissan's platforms and drivetrains(imagine a Malibu with Nissan's excellent V6 and transmissions instead of the same-old, same-old OHV V6 w/ 4spd auto) and both Renault and Nissan's small car expertise..

Yeah..the CLS is a beautiful car, but it would have made a great hardtop. The reality, though,with pretty much 100% air conditioning in cars today, is that I think people rarely ever drive with the windows down, so a hardtop (2dr or 4dr) is not a big selling point...

Cool. The '61-67 4dr conv. was the high point for Lincoln, IMHO...they haven't done anything as classy or unique since then.

It's probably more cost effective to outsource it..same with how the work on some convertibles are outsourced to vendors like ASC, Karmann, etc..

75 here... and when it's dry and sunny (75% or more days per year), the traffic usually flows along at 80-85 outside of the metro areas on the interstates. The 2-lane state/US roads are usually 65.

Reading various posts around the board today, I realized that there are a lot of posters on the board that remind me of the Uncle Rico character. He was always dreaming of 1982 and wishing he could go back. I think some people here live in 1965 or 1985 or whatever year they want GM to be in again.

The reality is except for the Solstice, Pontiac for 2007 is an all FWD (with a couple AWDs) brand...I don't see that changing in the next few years...

My point was in '70, Chevy had the Camaro, Chevelle and Monte Carlo coupe. I don't think the market is big enough to support 3 Chevy coupes today.

True enough... the article seemed pretty factual to me.

Which is literally the way Chevy sliced up the coupe market in 1970 (plus the Impala and Caprice coupes).. I couldn't see it working today..the coupe market is much smaller than it was then.

I'd stick with BMW and DC products (Jeep). Maybe a Ford, Infiniti, or Acura.

HF II was long gone by then..and there were Mazda engines in Ford cars years before the Yamaha-engined Taurus SHO.
