Sounds plausable...a stretched EII platform could make sense as a replacement for the W-body platform..

The 6-speed w/ a diesel would have been a great option..best gas mileage and torque, I bet..

It definitely resembles the DTS, Lucerne, and the Impala...the best thing about the dash is it is very car-like and not truckish (since these trucks are predominantly used as cars---they are the full-size station wagons of today). I do hope the Escalade gets more than a different guage cluster and wood trim--it deserves its own unique dash design.

Wow...over 5500lbs for the 4WD version...they could have gotten more mileage if they could find a way to take out more weight (more aluminum?).

Ok...must be a slow news day...you guys are getting all worked up by a blurry photo of a reflection of a car....judging by the headlight, it looks like an '06 Impala.

I think it hit it around bumper level and offset...the left side of the Lincoln was relatively unscathed, but the right side... almost as if the car folded up and in on itself...

I'm looking forward to seeing the 'burban....though I assume it will be just like the Tahoe but longer.

I was in an accident back in '94 when a Ford van rear-ended a stopped Town Car at about 45 mph (pushing the Lincoln into my Mustang, totalling both cars)...the Lincoln was hit so hard the body buckled at the B-pillar and folded the car up in the middle..there must have been a foot or more between the bent frame and the floorpan, and the middle of the frame was 3 feet off the ground (It was sitting on 3 wheels). My Mustang was hit above the rear bumper (taillight level) by the Lincoln, shoving the decklid through the rear window and the back tail panel almost to the back seat...(neither door would open, I crawled out through the drivers window..) No one was injured, though the lady in the Lincoln and I both had some whiplash...

One thing working against Buick as far as those numbers go, though, is that the Boomers are the generation that first embraced imports broadly...are people that have been driving Japanese and German for 25 years or more going to go Buick?

Buick kind of lost their mojo in the '70s.... in the 50s and 60s, they had a bold, brash luxury style that was different than Cadillac style and definitely different than Olds... the '50s Roadmasters, the '60s Wildcats and Electras, the first through third generation Rivieras exemplified that , IMHO... But by the late '70s and pretty much up to today, Buicks by and large have pretty largely indistinguishable from their Chevy, Pontiac, and Olds platform mates--really only the grilles and taillights differed, nothing substantial.... (a few cars stood out, like the Grand Nationals, GNX, Reatta, the Rivieras, but otherwise....)

Wasn't Jacko a fan of that mag? I remember some DJs riffing on that back when his trail was going on...

Interesting...more variations...it seems like Holden has made a ton of performance variants of the Commodore, Monaro and other models over the last decade...every few months it's some different HSV or other performance variation...

Yeah, it's wierd...I know 3 people that have xBs and 2 people with Elements--all are 50 or older. Though I did have a coworker my age (35) that had an Element but he recently traded it for a new 325i.

One thing that is really interesting how a certain car's demographic can be quite different in different markets.... in the US I think of the Civic as a teenager or twentysomething's car, but i read that in the UK the average age buyer for the current model is 58!

Interesting...must be a change for '06...in '05 they were the Montana SV6 while they still offered the old-style Montana....(probably kept the Montana label for 1 model year for insurance purposes, like Nissan did with the original Altima (Stanza Altima) and the Armada (Pathfinder Armada in it's first year)..
