  1. The Hummer EV is awfully long and wide, though...maybe more suited for wide-open desert trails.
  2. It will be interesting to see what the EV truck market looks like in 5 years.
  3. Rivian does have their commercial van for Amazon and other delivery services. https://rivian.com/fleet
  4. Yeah, I can't imagine taking a 9000lb, 7 ft wide Canyonero-wannabe EV on a narrow Rocky Mountain trail...
  5. That would suck...I spend a lot of time at the national park, state parks, beaches, etc in nice weather..don't see the coal-roller diesel shit around thankfully.
  6. I have no idea what it would take to update my 1967 home to support a 220v garage charger. It's a moot point, as I don't have a use case where an EV would make sense. If I had a predictable daily commute to an office it might make sense, but working out of the house, I only drive on the weekends and the occasional short trip a couple times during the week. Sometimes I go two weeks without driving anywhere, esp. in cold weather.
  7. It would look less stupid with an extra 6 inches or so of roof...the amateur customizers that make these shortened cars always seem to take so much out that the side window opening looks waaaay too small.
  8. I heard the church bells ringing late last night...about a 1/2 dozen Orthodox churches within 5 miles of me.
  9. The Hummer EV sounds like it's pretty capable off road, though it's massive size and weight would be a hindrance, IMO.
  10. First snow of the winter here that is more than a dusting...cold, 16F this morning, a couple inches of snow on the ground, more coming...the commute from the kitchen to my home office wasn't bad, though.
  11. ^ re: barbers—I was a regular Great Clips customer for years, across 3 states. But for the last 2 years, I’ve been DIY with my Wahl clippers, 2-3 times a year. Bzzzt
  12. Hadn't heard of that one...appears to be based on the GLB...
  13. Deep thoughts that are always appropriate---'reality is complex', 'there are many things'.
  14. I doubt they will do anything like that, I assume it will be just another generic CUV like the current ICE Blazer.
  15. I like the Bro-hams...seems like they could be a very nice road trip car, just needs an upgrade to have Apple Car Play and a nav screen. I wonder if those seats are as comfortable as they look. The '00 DTS and '06 STS I got plenty of seat time in were very comfortable. most had a vinyl top like this:
  16. I know. I replied to your reply to his post. I'd say it's more personalization than full-blown customization, though---there isn't much of that going on today, not like all the custom cars 50-60 years ago w/ custom paint, custom body work, etc..not much of that anymore.
  17. Yes, you don't see much of it with the usual lease appliances, but customization is alive and well with Jeeps and other 4x4s, pickups and SUVs. Loads of aftermarket and dealer stuff for Jeeps, esp. Wranglers.
  18. I do like the slim front lighting trend, after years of excess cluster bloat.
  19. They had to out do Ford's max starting price point.. So a similar body layout to the Hummer EV as far as the integral bed.
  20. Neat..definitely a strong lanchy vibe to the rear 3/4 view..
  21. The bigger safety issue at this point w/ Tesla is the 'auto pilot' cruise control and people thinking they can take a nap while driving, etc..been many crashes and some fatalities to misuse of that feature.
  22. Speaking of Colonnades, I see that Greenlight has come out w/ a 1/64th '73 Chevelle 2dr diecast. One version out is a gray one from the movie 'Drive' (great gritty crime movie, love the soundtrack). I'll have to get one to go with my other Greenlight Colonnades ('76-77 Pontiac Le Mans 4dr sedan and wagon).
  23. I know you are looking for a paranoid conspiracy theory, but maybe there have been more pressing real world issues that have dominated the new cycles the last few years? Also, how many cases of actual fires have been attributed to this issue? Any fatalities or injuries? Googling 'Hyundai engine fires' have turned up plenty of mainstream press articles, not just from automotive news sources, so it has gotten coverage. This one ABC news article mentions 31 fires. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/us-steps-probe-hyundai-kia-engine-failures-fires-81954665 But this seems like a thread derailment issue, since this is a thread about Tesla.
  24. Meaning for whatever reason, the Hyundai/Kia issues haven't got the media attention of the Pinto issues 40+ years ago. Also, the Pintos were exploding in accidents--very dramatic, while the Hyundai/Kia issue seems to be spontaneous fires.
  25. Different time and place...the Pinto recalls were over 40 years ago...
