gas prices
I was thumbing through an old C&G when I came across an editorial about gas prices from last year. Basically it said that a large part of the problem is that different areas of the country require different gasoline blends, different additives. Not only do they have to make these gasses, they have to transport them seperately. That is something the politicians can take care of, just find one or two mixes the whole country can use and be done with it. No more MTBE in the gas in one area and ethanol in the next county over. If politicians keep fiddling with the regulations the gas companies have to keep paying to change/upgrade facilities and that is reflected in the price. I still say most of this is on the oil industry anyways. Assholes.

Autoextremist: The NASCAR Bubble
With gas getting pricey, wouldn't it make more sense to have one lap races where the drivers have to pull the cars? Now that I would watch.

Lacrosse outsells Chrysler 300
I dont see many LaX' anyways and I dont pay close attention to the 300s I see. The 300 makes sense as a rental in warm weather areas because people who drive rental cars tend to drive like morons and I dont want a moron behind the wheel of a 4000 pound RWD gorilla in the middle of an ice storm.

Get her in on it, too. You've already got 2/3 of a threesome, just alternate the gender of the last 1/3.

I'm sure most of them leave their hoods at home when they go to the racetrack.

Autoextremist: The NASCAR Bubble
IRL, Le Mans, etc at least they all drive different cars, different engines, etc. NASCAR uses stickers over a pretty much universal body. Fly is right, it pretty much is a four hour long commercial for Viagra and Home Depot, it doesn't make sense. You want to see physically demanding? Drive from Chicago to Springfield, MO (about 520ish miles) straight through in a snowstorm after getting three hours of sleep the night before.

At least they didn't get Celine Dion
Well, it actually makes a little sense. The stones are getting up there in age and the people who followed the Stones way back in the day are getting older and are likely to have more money to blow on a car and have kids or grandkids, so a vehicle like the R-class kind of works. It would be really strange to have an MB commercial with a Stones soundtrack. Then again, they did it with Janis Joplin back in the 90's.

Autoextremist: The NASCAR Bubble
Race factors in because sports are supposed to be universal, and all white drivers, all white crews and all white fans just screams of Alabama in the 50's.

At least they didn't get Celine Dion
The duo of Lee Iacocca and Snoop for Chrysler.

My car has a Saturn badge on it, does that mean I am sponsered by Saturn and should get money from them for every mile I drive?

If GM does bring back the Camaro...
They're cramped, kind of ugly and most younger people who drive them act like idiots.

To my stupidity...
Other than the front overhang typically being smaller on RWD, there really isn't a huge proportional difference that I've seen.

Where are the other countries now?
Back to the subject at hand, whenever we help another country out, it is all over the news, which aids that "We're the best country in the world" mentality. Whenever we have a huge disaster, they may show some world leaders making offers of help, but you never hear about any actual aid we receive, I think partly because that would bruise our national ego, and partly because we can handle things so well on out own that we dont really need international help for local affairs. I do agree that it would be nice if the same people who try to guilt me into giving $0.39/day to starving children would maybe cough up some dough to help the people in the Gulf region who really need the help. I'm sure this sounds heartless and insensitive, but I wonder how Mardi Gras will go next year. If they get the area cleaned up and at least somewhat back to normal, I think it can be good for the region, returning a sense of normalcy.

I'm probably in the minority, but I would love to see an extended sedan/hatchback, RWD, hybrid V6(damn gas prices).

More like Average Americans are sick of paying $9 to watch seventeen minutes of commercials, fifteen minutes of previews then ninety minutes of crap all while drinking a six dollar coke and eating nine dollar popcorn.

I saw a Mini for sale today, they wanted $14,9 for it. Sooooo tempting.

rhd saturn HUH!?
I've seen a few old Subaru wagons, which really makes sense. They're already produced RHD, so there is no extra R&D costs, they already have cars coming over here, so shipping them was no biggie and they have AWD and a ton of room, both really helpful to mail carriers in crappy weather/road areas.
