Buick Riviera
++ The first time I saw the front, I was not impressed. The more I look at it, though, the more I like it. With just a change in the grille, it'd be very attractive. I love the profile - very nice. The back is merely decent, but flows well. I've changed my mind. I like it. -RBB

SHANGHAI: 2008 Buick Park Avenue (China)
Aren't prices for imported cars in China artificially high because of import tarrifs? If I remember correctly, the CTS was over $60K when first imported into China. I'm not saying the Buick would be economically feasible here - I don't have the knowledge to make that assertion. But saying it's $50K in China so it's too expensive to sell as a Buick here seems to me to be an apples-to-oranges comparison - especially if it could be built in NA at the Camaro plant instead of in AUS. That said, if it's too expensive to work as a Buick, how about as a next-gen DTS? -RBB

Bob Lutz Explains Why The Pontiac GTO Failed
'68 Camaro: '68 Firebird: '71 GTO: '71 Chevelle: '76 Grand Prix: '76 Monte Carlo: Pontiacs have been rebadges of other products for years. The GTO and teh G8, at least, look like nothing else in GM's North American stable (Cavalier look-alike insults aside). I'd think that's a good thing. Yes the styling is conservative - some might say bland. IMO, there's a market for that. To me, conservative, if done well, can convey a sophisticated upscale image. Despite what I'm driving currently, I prefer understated styling to wildly overstyled designs. The G8 isn't perfect. But, I think it's pretty darn good, and a great step toward what Pontiac should have been all along. -RBB

M3
Cool feature. Though the previous-gen M3 was IMO the pinnacle of BMW's design philosophy, this doesn't look bad at all. Certainly the most attractive of all the bangled Beemers. -RBB

Pictures of your town
This is the Bevo bottling plant. Bevo was a non-alchoholic beverage produced by A-B during prohibition. The Bevo mascot is a fox with a stein in one hand and a chicken leg in the other. It's currently used to bottle Busch, Bud and Michelob: And some detail pics from the elaborate tilework in the lobby: -RBB

Spring Hill to build Chevy Lambda
Not sure why they'd need four versions of the same vehicle. Honestly, although I like each lambda on its own merits, three is one too many IMO. I'm for a Chevy if it's significantly different - SWB, sliding doors, whatever. Otherwise pass, please. -RBB

Confirmed NYIAS Debuts
From the link above, the 5.3L V8 in the H3 Alpha puts out 295 HP (which we knew) and 317 lb-ft torque (which I didn't see mentioned anywhere else). -RBB

MADE IN CHINA: 2009 Buick LaCrosse
As opposed to the Jaguar/Taurus bastard-child that is the NA Lacrosse? It's not bad, but the Chinese Lacrosse IMO is much more in tune with current design trends, and even if parts of the styling are derivative it has a much more striking appearance. I thought Buick in its heyday was supposed to be about big, bold style? The Chinese Lacrosse is the bolder, IMO, of the two designs. It's not perfect, but it's certainly a step in the right direction. I hope the NG sedan will take it a step further. -RBB
