You should know that you need to have a data-capable phone, and there will either a per-month charge or a per-KB charge to download the file over your cellphone's network. You'll need to specify what brand and model of phone you have, and what carrier you use. Once that's done, click the "Mega/Super/Real Tones (with Lyrics)" link on your main page. Choose the "I'll download this file with my phone's web browser. (typical)" option and enter your mobile phone number. Then click Continue. This will upload a copy of the file to the Mobile17 servers, and send you a text message with a link that you can use to download the file to your phone. Select your mp3 file by clicking the "Browse" button at the top of the next screen. Label your file, and choose where you want it to start - for this file, you'll leave that as the default "0 minutes, 00 seconds". This file is a hair over 39 seconds long. so where it says "4. How long would you like the tone to be?", enter 40 seconds. Finally click continue. This site takes longer, but the reason it does so is that it converts your mp3 file to one that's compatible with your phone before it sends it to you. Drove an Ion at an ASIM (what happened to them, BTW). and it blew me away. Didn't expect much, but it was an absolute blast to drive - probably the easist car to drive quickly that I drove that day - Corvette and GTO included. OK, so mom is possibly looking for a new car (her current '93 Maxima is starting to break down on a regular basis, and repairs aren't cheap), and was looking at her replacement options. She doesn't have much to spend - about $7K. She's always driven domestics until this Maxima, and she's liked the way this car drove, if not the reliability. She'd been contemplating an older Camry or Accord, but wasn't overly impressed with either one. She'd even considered a RAV4 or a CR-V, but doesn't necessarily need an SUV and prefers a car with a little more oomph. I'd like to recommend a Regal to her. The pushrod engines should satisfy her lead foot well enough (esp. if I can find a GS), and I know they're very reliable vehicles. GM's poor resale value (compared to Honda/Toyota) is actually a good thing, since the Regal be cheaper with more equipment. Anything I need to know when helping her look at Regals? I know some had a composite intake manifold that was prone to leakage, but didn't remember what years or what engine. Have heard tell of some problems with the AC/compressor on Regals as well. How do the different engines (3.1 or 3.4 as the base? 3.8? SC 3.8?) in terms of long-term reliability - any car she gets will likely have at least 80K miles on it. Or is there something else that I should recommend? Thanks in advance, -RBB

It has to be designed into the structure. They can't just stuff a bunch of airbags into the headliner. I'm assuming as existing models are replaced or updated, they'll incorporate the extra airbags into the new designs, but they won't retrofit existing models. -RBB

Actually, they liked the way the Mazda drove, and said the interior felt upscale (may not be an exact quote, but you get the gist). They didn't like some of the interior ergonomics - they complained of the spacing of the pedals and the dead pedal. They also complained that the IC dimmer didn't dim the speedo/tac, only the lights on the center stack. And yes, they didn't like the red dials. I can't say I agree with them there - I've got no problems with legibility of the red dials in my Mazda6. They chose the Rabbit because it performed as well as the Madza at the track and had a more "traditional" (read: not red dials stuffed down tunnels) interior, and the ergonomics were better. Weird red dash aversion aside, I can't say I blame them. With similar performance, they picked the one that looked better and wasn't as confining. Reliability and dealer satisfaction shouldn't factor into a comparo unless something breaks during the test. They said neither GM nor Ford could supply them a car, and as blu said, they're not going to buy one just for one test. You're correct: could have tested a 2.5 I Impreza, as it just barely squeaks under their cap with a $17,995 base MSRP. -RBB
