Chevy Super Bowl College Ad Challenge
Thought this was kinda cool. The project seems to have turned at least some of the team's opinion favorably: http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stor...30?OpenDocument Chevy Superbowl College Ad Challenge -RBB

Guess what hit me now?
Looks like you need to cut into the front bumper to see what's going on behind there. Sorry man. That really sucks. -RBB

Toyota recalling 500,000 + Tundras and Sequoias
This was intentionally designed into the vehicle because the Japanese automaker is concerned about the effect a high-quality full-size truck would have on Ford and GM. If Toyota didn't design a truck that occasionally steered itself into a ditch, oncoming traffic, or FlyBrian's car, the damage to the American automakers would be decimating to the US economy. The O.C. Finally Shoots His CTS....!
Interesting comparison, since top-gear ratio on my V6 5-speed Mazda6 is one of the main (though minor - turning ratio is the other) complaints with the car. At 80 MPH, I'm turning about 3300 RPM, IIRC, and it's a hair over 2900 RPM at 60 MPH. I've thought for a while it could use another cog, or at least a taller 5th gear - though as with your CTS, it's nice to be able to pass w/o downshifting at all. I average low-to-mid 20's for fuel consumption in mixed driving, but rarely see anything over 25 mpg even on long hwy trips. -RBB

Santa spotted in a 3500HD!
Saw this driving home yesterday: Thought it was just a a cool old Caddy limo at first, but as I drove past, I realized it hadt three rows of seats. You can't really make it out in this photo (took it quickly while driving), but there are people in rows two and three. Look closely and you'll see a front, middle, and rear door. I've not seen something like that before... -RBB

Toyota Camry Dual Cowl Phaeton
B pillars are not designed to prevent roof shear - by the time whatever is shearing off your roof gets to the B pillar, you'r pretty much dead anyway. B pillars provide enhanced structural rigidity (preventing cowl shake and chassis flex) and side impact protection. Can a car be designed without a B pillar? Absolutely - convertibles are a good example, as are a one or two high-end coupes. However, unless you severely overbuild and strengthen the chassis, it's going to flex and creak and be less safe in a T-bone collision. -RBB

Nissan unveils Rogue CUV
Nice-lookin cute-ute. A couple of things, though: In profile, it looks a lot like the new Santa Fe. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just suprising. Nissan's wheel arches are getting bigger with each iteration. Before long the quarter panels will be one big wheel arch. I don't like that, because visually it makes the wheels/tires look smaller than they are, negating the mostly cosmetic effect of larger-rimmed tires. It should be quite competitive, though, and I do like the interior. -RBB

Chevrolet HHR Premiere Edition to debut @ NAIAS
Why on earth did GM release an official photo with the hood popped? Somebody really, really needs to fire their photography dept. That said, that's a nice upgrade in an already attractive package. I like the premium-look color, and seems a reasonable price for the items included. -RBB

Camaro RINGTONE
Use the RUMKIN link, then. My wife has a RAZR, and I've used it to send MP3 ringtones to her phone. The RAZR does have a USB port, but in order to directly interface with the phone, you have to purchase their proprietary software. Alternatively, you can pull out the Mini-SD card and transfer files to it via an USB SanDisk reader. The RAZR should have come with a Mini-SD to SanDisk adapter. But then, you have to transfer the file from your Mini-SD card to the phone's internal RAM before you can set it as a ringtone. IMO, as long as you have a data plan (or don't mind paying the $.10-.40 it'll cost on a per-KB plan), it's a lot easier to text-message the file to your phone using the RUMKIN uploader. -RBB
