There have been other higher mileage vehicles that I've owned. A 1987 Buick Century that we gave to a friend that had over 200,000 miles (320,000 km) before his son totalled it. A 1977 Volvo 244 DL (back when Volvo's where worth something) with over 325,000 miles (520,000 km) when we sold it. The guy who bought it from us got approx 400,000 miles (640,000 km) out of it before the engine seized up. A 1982 Volvo 242 Turbo with approx 245,000 miles (390,000 km). It had electrical problems, but the body, engine and trans where in good shape when we sold it. Roach II has over 200,000 miles (320,000) when our boy finally sold it. A 1985 Volvo 765 Turbo that we drove from 112,000 miles to 220,000 miles (350,000 km) before my wife totalled it. Besides eating mufflers and needing a turbo, the car was very reliable. Out of the 40 cars I've owned, this one is still in the top 5 favorites. The only newer Volvo (1994 855 Turbo) to be in our family had a hard time getting to 100k. Since they copied toyota on engine design, they just don't last like they used too.

Roach I had 390,000 VERY hard miles on it. Original trans, engine and rear end. The car ran like a champ. Go to your local cab company and you will find as many high mileage American made cars as you desire. The company we bought Roach I from averaged 400,000 to 500,000 miles out of their GM products before they sold them. They have since switched to the newer (1999 to 2005) Impalas due to bad luck with the Crown Vics.

Not a bad deal for $800.

Take note; the GM divisions that did not rank well have the cars that we all know are not known for decent quality in 2004. Example; Chevrolet had, Cavalier, Blazer & the Astro (though lasts for many miles, tended to have a fair amount of little problems). In 2 years you will see the vehicles that have caused GM headaches in those reports no longer included. Congrats GM. Keep up the good work.

I just got the 2008 brochure and it states nothing on such an option (not that it won't become available).

Sorry to hear about the accident. We have State Farm and have made out like bandits on all three cars my wife totalled. Our friends who also have State Farm did well when they totalled their car.

I've done my fair share of over seas travels. EVERY time I land back in the States I find myself not only excited to be home, but proud to be an American.

I'm excited about the idea of the Excelle. With baby boomers hitting the age of retirement, it should be a huge hit, IF DONE RIGHT! The Excelle is the type of car GM needs to show that they can make cars with great gas mileage that are worth owning.

So my wife and I headed to the local Buick dealer to see about getting a newer (2001) Century or (2003) Impala. While there the saleperson stated that he had a perfect condition 1996 Park Avenue traded in from an "older" customer. I said I didn't want it, but my wife insisted that we look at it. As it turns out, it not only drove like new, it has less wear and tear than my HHR. It didn't make sense not to buy it. Check out the pictures of the carpet. It almost looks new! It has 78,600 miles, and all records included. The previous owner seemed to replace things WAY before needing them. The water pump has been replaced twice because "a noise" was heard. Now I'm pimpin it.

Wow, only 3 years with the upcoming Malibu. GM is getting the idea.

It's hard to tell from the spy shots, but from what I can see it looks as boring as accords of the past.

I'm glad to hear others getting the same gas mileage we did. And yes, we didn't gun it to get such gas mileage, but we did keep up with traffic and drove slightly above the speed limit.

I'm not big on the heavy Japanese / Korean look.

When I was in high school, I wanted the Eurosport. Not a bad car for the times.

Old school; Citation; Great idea for the time, and not bad looking (it was afterall the 80s). If only GM could have figured how to produce quality vehicles back then. Corvair; Same as above. It could be one of the hot ones today if they had gotten the quality right. 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme; Beautiful car, great suspension, same problems as above. I think in the past GM made some of the greatest cars around. If it wasn't for their quality woes they would still have a line up of people buying them today.

Used to be when younger, and when gas prices were only $1 a gallon. Now days I worry about the gas more than the ticket.

Funny this guys complains about the gas mileage because my favorite feature is the 8 passenger seating with better EPA markings than the pilot, highland & CX-9. Example (all 2-wd with V-6); Acadia - 18/26 pilot - 18/24 highlander - 19/25 CX-9 - 18/24 The others don't carry 8, and don't have NEAR the legroom and overall comfort of the Lambdas.

I guess the best we can hope for right now is that the next generation mid-size Buick won't be screwed up when be transformed from China to the US.

Today was my first day of freedom away from PM. It was SO relaxing. I forgot what it's like to be a human.

38 vehicles in 19 years of driving. Basically a car every 6 months. I keep thinking I should slow down, but there are just to many cars to love and such a short life span to live.

Most of you are probably to young to remember how Regan changed how we mark our unemployment numbers. Those numbers you read about now days, are lower than 30 years ago, because he made it that way.

Interesting that GM seems to be the lead company for every show this year.
