Interestingly, some sketches look more like Ciel coupe that what the concelt ended up being... I think the front end and rear ends are basically what the LTS will look like (hopefully without the mesh grille). Real interesting bit is the 4.5TT V8: a GenV variant, specific to Cadillac, maybe? BTW: don't like the new logo as shown; I think it would look awesome with a 1950's style chrome V below the crest...

Extra length versus the 5-door hatch removes the spaceship looks; not too bad looking and the arches over teh wheel wells work out well IMHO...

Subaru should remeber SAAB's story (slowly becoing too GM-like) and they should at all cost avoid it. Go with your brand identity and don't become a "generic".

These types of jobs suck a lot of one's energy and personality into them, so the 'personal reasons' argument is understandable... If there are other reasons beyond that, I don't know... Also don't know if it's Akerson, and in fact I have a growing suspicion that it's not Akerson blocking Cadillac from realizing its full potential; it's the remnants of Old GM thinking... Maybe Don Butler got tired of fighting Cadillac's fight in GM's corporate politics battleground? If that's the case, then I agree with dfelt that he'll re-emerge at another automaker soon. EDIT - For sure Don Butler isn't the only person in the World right now thinking of how much a job can suck oneself into it and lose grasp of the parts of life that are really important...

I don't see it as a place holder at all, it's more the vehicle Cadillac has (needs?) to cater to the livery/fleet market without compromising the resale value of the other models... Especially with the LTS just around the corner... Still think the XTS design would have been nothing short of stunning if it sat on a RWD platform...

Will that trickle down to the A8? Expression 'trickle down to the A8' reads kinda funny, being that the A8 is Audi's flagship sedan You just wanted to give the A8 a complex problem being it will get the Hand Me Downs from Bentley. LOL
