  4. It would save OEMs money in development and certification costs for sure. It would also mean GM would have to find new excuses not to offer diesel-powered Cadillacs
  5. Do you know if the Dumbo Ears side mirrors (also present on the Euro 2014 Corvette) are regulations mandated (mirror area requirement, for example)?
  6. I'll have to disagree. V-Series is a recognized brand and BMW trades on the M moniker for an appearance package, just like Mercedes has the 'AMG Styling Package' on certain models.People covet these packages, often for their looks and the association with high-performance models. I think it'd be a bad move to call the VSport anything else. They could have created two distinct performance models that stand on their own and do not have to feel like one is the second best as one if beyond the best. I also have seen many already people on the auto web sites are mistaking the V Sport as the new V Series. The GM guys have is handled but the non GM guys are missing the point and these are the people GM wants to attract. All I ask is to give the V Sport its own Identity and leave the V to the V series. But what is done already is done and it is not going to change. I guess they could do a V sport and then a V Series Gold like the AMG and AMG Black. They could make the emblem with a V and in gold. Maybe they introduced them in the wrong order, given the (relative) hurry to show the TT V6?

EU's newer emission control rules are getting stricter and approaching US rules; I expect diesel certification costs to not be an obstacle over time as both Legislations converge into stricter emission standards. As for the gasoline engines, it's just a fact of life: guess if the engines are new or reworkked, testing has to happen...
  8. Drove both D2 manual and D2 Poweshift in Sweden, and they're pretty neat cars!

  11. V-Sport will become essentially what M-Packages are at BMW; V-Series will match the M models. The idea of introducing it exclusively with the TT V6 in the CTS gives me hope that as the TT V6 eventually expands to other trim levels, V-Sport models will always have an extra bit of 'edge' over the remaining trims.

  13. Both are Omega-based and thus related. There still one more concept to be shown IIRC, so I guess the Ciel and Elmiraj have been shown in a work-in-progress perspective: a progression to that the LTS will be. The next concept should be a 95% production ready LTS (hope GM doesn't throw away the large coupe idea, though).
  14. I like tge front end and how the side chrome strip integrates with the tail lights. Too bad the profile looks a bit like an egg...
  15. It's a hard choice as some models have created their own brand equity (CTS and Escalade) so the equity scale does not lean neither towards 3-letter names nor towards full names... In a perfect World to me, it could be Cadillac Series50 (ATS); Cadillac Series60 (CTS); Cadillac Series70 (LTS) - the 50-to-60-to-70 progression is perfectly logical - with the crossovers as part of each of the Series. Escalade and Eldorado (yes, I'd love that name to return though I understand Cadillac needs to keep looking ahead) would be on top of that as ultra-exclusive models... But that would be in a perfect World

  18. I'd love the SeriesXX names to return... But I'd leave Eldorado and Escalade for very exclusive, over-the-top flagship models
  19. Price it some 15% higher than the LTS (assumibng the LTS won't ever offer a coupe) and call it Eldorado.
