How-to?
Yeah, we have a Tech Section. I know what you mean on that one balth, I've taken apart several other vehicles, but I really doubt seeing how anyone would want to know how to shim up the fender/door gaps on a '73-'87 pick-ups, moreso than just to change the brakes on their car. I thnk it would be a good idea overall to have a How-To section since we're as deversified as a web site as compared to other, vehicle specific, websites.

American Made Index
Yeah, but I don't think that anyone is going to chastize the Suburban because most of the parts don't come from, or are assembled in the US.

How Ghosn Might Fix GM
That's true, but he's already got plenty of money so its not like things are going to absolutely kill him if he loses a little right now.

How-to?
Well, what we could do is take some of the things from the Tech Section and post the repair procedures and then as more people have questions about them, we can post updates and more procedures as time goes on. By the way, how'd the tune up go on the Regal?

Ideas for sketch competitions
Hmm, I'd like to see something along the lines of a new wagon from Chevy, either a Nomad-like 2door wagon, or something along the lines of the full-size Caprice wagons. You know, something to compete with the Magnum in a sense.

Toyota officials under investigation for recall
See, at least if there's a problem with a GM or Ford or Dodge its announced immediately and taken care of almost as fast. Toyota is having things from years ago come and bite them in the butt and I just re-read the airbag thing with the Turdras, they won't start accepting recall work on the trucks till September, that's a bit of a long time to wait to do soemthing like that, or at least it seems like it to me.

Wagoner in Court
I have to agree with Croc on this one. I like having to pay for my own healthcare because it means I get to choose what plan I want with what benefits. I'm sure that there might be ways to take care of that for a national healthcare system, but think of the complexity you'd be adding.

Car Heaven
Ahh, I'm glad I live in Alabama, no pollution test (which is why my truck does not and did not have a catalytic converter on it for the longest of times, nor does it have any other emissions equipment, not even a simple little EGR valve) but it is sad to see that some people are going to take this too far and start dumping everyone's cars no matter how old they are. I rather like seeing classic cars, even if they aren't in the best of condition.

How Ghosn Might Fix GM
To me, he seems to be throwing a tantrum because the company just isn't willing to bend over and take it from him and his lackey.

Private Brand Oil
Yes, Wal Mart has a significant amount of stock in AutoZone.....which is also why they are no longer hiring parts people, but just warm bodies (at least around here), and cramming the store full of crap they don't need, like hats and t-shirts.

....
You know, after coming back to this thread and looking at all the posts and pictures and chops of the truck. I still have to say that I'm sticking with my previous post. After looking at it and studying what's there, I like what I see, since it draws on previous years of the truck and in particular, the most popular Chevy truck's built, the '73-'87 era trucks.

SRT RIP: The End of the V10 Ram
I still don't like the Silverado SS, although I have to agree there is a certain mystique about doing a four-wheel burn out. To me it seemed like the SRT-10 Dodge just wasn't marketed well, I only saw one commercial for it during its entire run, so maybe that's why. Or maybe there's going to be some new Dodge super truck that comes out since they're retiring this one.

How Ghosn Might Fix GM
Its like I've said once before, I don't see where any partnership is going to bring major advancements to GM. Now with Carlos running the show its like Krinkle said, three years before we see anything happen. How about we tell Kirk and York to go and screw a rough 2x4 and wait to see what is REALLY going to happen with GM instead of throwing a 3 year old-esque temper tantrum becuase what you got isn't exactly what you wanted it to be and things are happening just like you want them to.

Private Brand Oil
Well, that's strange....

How-to?
All right, I threw this idea at Fly this morning as to whether or not there should be a "how-to" sub-forum in the Tech Section thread for all of us who do our own repair work, or those of us that would like to get started, but are unsure of what to do. Its just an idea, but I'd like to get some real feedback on this one because I would love to be able to post repair proceedures and pictures and stuff like that so's I can help out my fellow C&G'ers when it comes to repairs and in general fixin' stuff.

Toyota turns off airbag cutoff switch in Tundra
It is possible dart.

Any hope for a good minivan?
Just for giggles sake, how about we dig up the S10's frame, slap a van body on it and go back to calling it the AstroVan and Safari (there was nothing wrong with those fans except that they lost a real "home" when it came to things after the dustbusters came out)

Mitsu Lancer...
It looks good, and although I'm not a Mitsu fan, I still have to say that as long as the pricing and interior comes together nicely, they may have a winner on their hands considering how popular the Caliber is doing around here (seeing lots and lots of them running around).

Toyota turns off airbag cutoff switch in Tundra
I konw the importance of having your kid in the back seat, but like it was mentioned, what if you have a regular cab truck (say a work truck) and you have to run your kid to day-care in the morning or pick him/her up in the afternoon and head home from there? Might as well load the kid in the bed and lash 'em down because from what I can read, in the Turdra it will be a hell of a lot safer than in the front seat with the airbag switch disabled and the airbag able to go off no matter what.

GM won't revive employee pricing
I hope that 0% only comes back for maybe a week or so to again help move some left-over inventory. After that, stick to what's there, and keep the "small, surgical" rebates on what's still there after that.

GM seeks 750 temps to replace 1,300 Spring Hill
It sounds like a good move to save some money overall, but what if things happen to get where they need the temp workers for longer than a couple of months? Are they going to gripe and moan until they're made full-status workers, or are they going to be let go of and another round of temps brought in?

We now have a little Suburban & a big one
Z, I could argue that, but I won't, more times than not the 700R4 (and later 4L60E) transmissions don't handle heat too well, also if you do tow a lot with it, don't let it into overdrive, keep it in third, that way you won't burn the tranny up near as fast.

Japan Mulls Legality of N. Korea Strike
Yeah, our first generation space vehicles were originally Red Stone and Atlas ICBM's, then came the Saturn V, the first, non-military-based booster system (too bad the plans were destroyed after all the V's were built). Then came the STS program that we have today.
