  1. You know, after I posted this, I did just that, I went digging for wires. The lights aren't grounding properly, therefore, I have no lights. That also means that I have to fork over the $250 for the combination dimmer/turn signal/cruise control/windshield washer switch. Damn, what happend to the simple days of having a dimmer switch on the floor that you just stomped on......
  2. My closet: 5 CarQuest short sleeve polos, 4 other short sleeve polos for going out occasions, more t-shirts than I can count, 1 black 3-piece suit, one grey dress slacks, blazer, shirt combo, four pairs of comfy jeans, no holes, no rips, just comfy, and about four pairs of zip-off pants. OH yeah, a couple of pairs of khakis. In my dresser drawers are shorts, lots and lots of jean shorts. I'm a "dress comfortably" kinda guy.
  3. All right boys and girls... I know I'm normally the one with all the answers when it comes to Technical questions and How-to's, but this time, I've got one for y'all. 2001 Chevrolet Impala LS 9C1, I've got properly working DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), I've got my high-beams working, I've got my parking lights, but I've got NO low-beam headlights. Doesn't matter if I let the auto-light system work, or if I pull the headlight switch itself on. No blown fuses, no non-functional relays. Although there is a "headlamp relay" shown on the driver's side fuse panel in the side of the dash on the car, but I have yet to find that fuse. I'm wondering if that's where the problem lies, or am I going to have to chase a WHOLE lot of wires?
  4. Normally, no vapor lock doesn't happen anymore with today's cars simply because the fuel system on a modern fuel-infected, I mean fuel-injected, vehicle keeps fuel at the rail, so you don't have any vaporized fuel in the lines.

Good, cause we all know that I can right scenes about people getting killed, just remember my "side work" thread.
  6. Where the 3.4L engine looses is the height, meanwhile the 3.8 is a little bit longer package.

that works then. If you can, write out the kill scene. I'd like to see how you handle the really gory action stuff.
  9. Went to work. Dropped off the lease renewal on our house. Cut the back yard. Ordered chinese delivery. Goofed off on C&G till now, and next comes bed.

No 3.9L in the Monte, that's a bit strange, although it could be the phasing out of the current Monte Carlo for something newer, better, and dare I say: Rear Wheel Drive?
  11. I did sometimes think that they look girly. I'll take the '73-'87 "Move, or I'll rip your scrotum off and feed it to you looks".
  12. that I agree with.
  13. considering the vehicle has sat for sometime, it might take some time and patience with getting on the brakes, then working the adjusters in, over and over again until you get it all worked free.

its definitely different, more gritty, more dark. I like it a good bit, but again, you're dropping us into the middle of a battlefield without a gun and without a set of directives, if you follow my drift.
  15. Raven, a word of warning and caution, doing a full-on brake job on an older vehicle like that isn't something that a lot of mechanics like doing in today's world. I know that it sounds confuzzling and like a pain, but changing brake shoes and hardware and wheel cylinders, ect. isn't that hard of a job.
  16. Well, only one problem with me doing the eariler than '67 splits, I couldn't remember the body changes and generational changes through the earlier 60s and further back, so please forgive me.
  17. Another recall, eh? why doesn't this surprise me.
  18. welcome aboard, good luck, and good hunting.

Ahhh hell, just go get a mid-70s K5, you'll be much happier, much easier to lift, much more power, and a hell of a lot more fun to bounce around off trees.
  23. Well lets see, within a stone's throw of my house there are two Winn Dixies, and two Publix-es. I normally go to Publix becaues the deal is better and the people are a hell of a lot nicer. I try to stay away from Wal-Mart no matter what, if I can't get it at Publix, I normally don't bloody worry about it. I don't buy a lot of clothes, and when I do, I can't exactly buy them at Wal-Mart, or anywhere else except somewhere that specializes in someone of my stature. Electronics aren't a big thing at our house, and since I work at Car Quest, I don't have to worry about vehicle products, I can get the best in the business from there.

Ahhh, glad I live in the south where heat and humidity isn't something to complain about, its a way of life. Been 100+ degrees here with HIGH (65-90 %) humidity for the past two weeks.

I know this may sound funky, but it could be the radio. My Impala has the variable volume control, and I've heard that the VSS signal runs through the radio BEFORE it even hits the dash and speedo.
