  1. The new 6 spd autos should rectify most power problems. AFAIK, most of the time its just that the transmissions can't handle anymore power...I believe thats the case with the northstar...although I may be wrong.
  2. I don't really think price will be a big concern for likely buyers of these cars. The difference between a base corvette and the Z06 is over 20K.... I don't see people complaining about that. Both STSV and XLRV are only 5-10K more than the E500 and SL500 respectively and both are well under their competitors. (E55 and SL55 or whatever) Also keep in mind that on the SL/S500 you have to pay for options still while pretty much everything on the Caddys is standard
  3. eh I said after the results of the election that this country was far too concerned about religion and morality and not nearly enough about the health of the country. As for the UAW...sorry but most unions are overpayed...I said it once and I'll say it again..unions should be more focused on job security than pay increases right now.
  4. Not the two that I had...jeez...the engine sounded and felt like a lawnmower, the interior was falling apart, the transmission was jerky...and at only 4K miles. I understand the rental thing and all but alot of these had nothing to do with wear and tear.
  5. The last 2 rentals I've had have been Altimas....yea...they are definite POS's

whew...I forgot how nasty the current Camry interior is. I can't believe auto journalists love it so much.
  7. Retarded? Really how many sunfires were sold to real people, not fleets last year? Pontiac is a niche division....not a volume division. They do not need a 100K a year entry level car...thats why chevy exists. A more intelligent idea is to shrink the G6 and do like a Malibu/Impala thing with the G6 and Grand Prix....quite frankly I never understood why they didn't do that in the first place.
  8. Flexible? The only thing they need is a 2 door hardtop. It isn't the volume division...they don't need a 4 door sedan....even 4 seats isn't totally necessary.
  9. Anything "entry-level" for Pontiac should be based on Kappa....period. Pontiac isn't the volume division and shouldn't be trying to make a Civic competitor.

The problem is that the Camry hasn't been even close to class leading since 2002....and the upcoming "redesigned" camry will only have new sheet metal and a few minor changes....the biggest being a new engine most likely if that.
  11. I think we've reached the point where there really is no "class leader". Every car has its pluses and minuses because every car was designed to target a different market.
  12. My Cobalt averages 30. 38 is my high on the highway with a easily attainable 35 overall on the highway. City is mid-high 20's. I drive an even mix every day.
  13. Uh...how exactly is that going to work? Blow up a Toyota and the guy will just buy another one.
  14. If the government told you that you had to spend a bunch of money upgrading your vehicles for essentially nothing (meaning consumers could care less about it), wouldn't you be against it too?
  15. Every form of government has its drawbacks. One of the main problems with democracy is that many simple problems with simple answers are complicated with "special interests".
  16. I still don't see why the government insists on enforcing fuel efficiency on companies and not on the consumers. The government should be working to change consumer buying habits.
  17. It's not just cars either. It's pretty much every consumer good.

    Pretty much my opinion too.
  19. Snate replied to a post in a topic in Honda
Um...what about the 3.5L V6 in the Impala and Malibu? Any V6 that can get 35 real world MPG on the highway seems pretty efficient. Yes we all know its not rated at 35 MPG...hence why I said real world. True the 3.9L is rated lower...but in real life it will probably get just as good of mileage as its competitors. EPA estimates are at best flawed. If you had any experience with newer GM engines...you would know their MPG usually exceeds the EPA estimates.
  20. Snate replied to a post in a topic in Honda
Might as well...its not like the "advanced" 3.5L in the Pilot and Ridgeline is the most efficient/powerful engine. A V8 would probably get similar gas mileage with more power. From a marketing perspective though you can't really blame them. Gas prices aren't going down by much anytime soon and they will only go up again next summer.
  21. You're missing the point, guys... It should atleast be offered for those that want it. Whether that's a small number or not shouldn't matter. It helps the perception of the vehicle. Not even offering it is retarded... For whatever reason; good enough without it, etc. If you disagree, you're a retard. End of story. "Good enough never is." [post="14364"][/post] Not really...you just aren't looking from the business perspective. It costs money to engineer NAV into a car....its not like it's free. Sure it gives Honda a small bit of "PR" boost...but really its not significant. GM simply decided that the demand simply wasn't there for something like that...and I completely agree.
  22. Wow...it looks worse now than it did before. That interior is just downright wrong. The design is just awful and the "quality" doesn't exactly seep out at least in the picture. And seriously...NAV would not big a big selling option. Probably one in a thousand civics will be produced with NAV and its just used for promotions to make all the nerds drool.
  23. and I'm inclined to disagree...as I've driven/been in both vehicles. I'll be the first to admit alot of Honda cars have excellent interiors....the civic just isn't one of those vehicles...in fact its probably the only Honda car that is totally eclipsed in its price range by competitors. The accord probably has the best interior in its class...too bad its so damned ugly..oh well you win some you lose some.
  24. Robust sales of a new model does not mean its a "hit" especially considering something as different as the HHR. Let's see a year from now how well they are selling and then we can talk about a hit. I'll admit the HHR isn't my thing really...I do want to see it succeed just as I want to see GM succeed...but I said the same thing about the 300 last year and at least around me it carrys plenty of generous incentives a little over a year out.
  25. I was referring to the comparison of the 2.0L SC to the GP GTP 3.8L SC...they aren't related in any way.
