  1. Hm... Maybe it's because I'm not familiar with this genre, but could you elaborate? A half-dozen years ago I started writing a sci-fi novel. The story was that of mankind, four centuries from now, finally becoming balanced enough to be accepted into the galactic equivalent of the United Nations. Up until this point, man had never made it past Pluto, and one of the quirks of being accepted into the union was the sharing of advanced space propulsion schematics. One of the species in the union, however, had previously monitored the humans, and felt that their past should not have allowed them to become members. The whole thing escalates into a galaxy-wide war with the union splitting into two set groups: those who welcomed the humans, and those who felt they should be destroyed. I had finished the first chapter and began the second, but my style of proofreading hindered my writing later on, as I would continue to re-read FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK each time I sat down to work on it.
  2. Hmm... I think the important question here is - would this be to the benefit of General Motors? *puts on helmet*
  3. The Honda Element is ugly. The Honda Ridgeline is ugly. This is just strange.
  4. Hey think of it this way... It's a lot easier to climb into, now.
  5. You guys can complain about having a moonroof that opens any which way as much as you want. I prefer my cars without em.
  6. Famous people, huh? I don't recognize them.
  7. A-HA! Hmm, still not what I remember it looking like. Ah well.
  8. Hmm, I don't remember it looking quite like that... http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/The_Electric_Mayhem_Bus

Dude, don't go there. He's already about to snap.
  10. Make my next car a plug-in bio-diesel Aveo hybrid. 128 MPGs!!!!!1!! Sorry, couldn't resist the idea.
  11. Probably if he had gotten caught pulling off the camo, the company/driver could press charges against him.
  12. Look, if the point of a plug-in hybrid is to use as little gas in automobiles as possible, shouldn't we at least look into it? If that energy is coming off the grid, it's coming from a number of other fuels, such as solar energy, wind, geothermal, nuclear, and hydroelectric. Not just fossil fuels. Some people, like Bobo, produce their OWN energy with solar arrays and the like.
  13. Actually, I'm surprised I haven't commented either. If the cost-return analysis indicates that a driver would break even on a plug-in hybrid after fewer than 36,000 miles, then HELL YES! It would be the new golden egg! Though if I were a betting man, I'd wager that Toyota would magically beat GM to the punch. Edit: changed mileage to something more realistic. Also, here's my mathematical reasoning: 36,000 / 30 mpg = 1200 gallons 36,000 / 80 mpg = 450 gallons 1200 * $3/gal = $3600 450 * $3/gal = $1350 If the plug-in hybrid system only adds $2000 to the cost, then you will be saving money after 36,000 miles. Even earlier if gas prices go up.
  14. Seriously. You'd think we were looking at a mid-90s rehash of a Chevy Corsica interior.
  15. A Chevy Celebrity with a 454 cu. inch engine. ...Hm, no that's too long. Sleeping Beauty
  16. Holy crap. I saw your post on BM's ultimate soothsayer thread and knew exactly who you were talking about. I'm sorry, man. A few things: 1. Do his parents know that he was bi? 2. You said yourself that he wasn't the type to self-inflict pain, so this must have come as a surprise to you. You definitely couldn't have done anything about it, given that you even put a lot of effort into contacting him after the fact. I can't tell you if you coulda, shoulda, woulda, because it already happened. 3. I personally think you should be allowed some slack for what you said in BM's evil empire thread. You're just really emotional right now, and it's understandable.

You sure she's evil? Or is she just really cranky because you snotball 9th graders keep giving her a hard time?
  18. Just remember that last years sales inflation was as the result of the "Employee Discount for Everyone" event, which created one of the most impressive months of GM sales in recent history.

So says the soothsayer. How, exactly, would the "Return to Greatness" plan turn this around? Would ousting Wagoner really be so beneficial to the company that it bounces back into the black? Or are you just trying to get him out because he didn't like your plan?
  20. Eh, if it had just rained out you should probably wait awhile before putting the top down, anyway. Might rain again.
  21. It's not that bad. Looks like they redesigned the entire dashboard. I do want to see a better picture, though.

"Less affluent buyers"? I'm... At a loss for words.

Right. More doom and gloom it is.
  24. I might just so happen to be an Italian. I might also happen to be Sicilian. But I am certainly not a caucasian. ...wait. Yes I am. Lake Ronkonkoma is out in Suffolk county. If this is any indication, I can tell you that out of the entire Island (including Queens and Brooklyn, and by association, NYC as a whole), the Suffolk county police officers have the easiest job and the highest pay.

You know the only reason that guy has an extra set of tires is so that he doesn't flip over. If that thing did flip, it'd never get back on its feet.
