  1. Looks cool and all but that setup would yield them probably 100 miles of range.
  2. But that is still commercial work. Just because it isn't a 100m/yr company, doesn't mean the use of the truck is no less commercial.
  3. Why though? Just because they're expensive? They have the same exact underpinnings as a crew cab work truck.
  4. Nothing about 754hp/785tq, 9500lb towing capacity, 1300lb payload, 6ft bed (with up to 9ft of maximum bed length), says it's a lifestyle vehicle anymore than an LT/LTZ Silverado/XLT F150/Denali GMC with leather seating. I guess, why is this considered a "lifestyle" vehicle while a current GMC Sierra Denali isn't? Or, at least, I've never heard it referred to as one.
  5. Okay, our definition of a "lifestyle" truck is vastly different then. I completely disagree with your version of it and that's okay. My version is based on the manufacturer's intent, based on capacities/specifications/abilities and yours seems to be how somebody is actually using it.
  6. A 100k Denali 3500 dually towing those things is considered a work truck but this isn't because...electricity? Just because they're hauling toys as opposed to a work trailer doesn't make it any less capable. There's nothing about this that says it can't do actual truck things, like a work truck. I mean, I agree that a 100k truck is RARELY going to be used daily for "work" activities but, that doesn't mean its capabilities are not up to par. IMO, saying it is a "lifestyle" truck takes away from what all it can do. A typical "lifestyle" truck has a weak payload, marginal towing capabilities, and don't need fancy or high tech AWD/4WD systems to match its ground clearance.
  7. Being able to tow 9500lb in the top trim model seems way more of an actual truck than a "lifestyle" truck, imo.
  8. So it isn't the grill that I'm not liking, it's the area where the headlights used to be. The rest looks pretty awesome.
  9. I'm not a huge fan of that face but I bet it's a phenomenal vehicle.
  10. Isn't that part of what flagship vehicles are supposed to do though, get people into other vehicles in their respective lineups? It should still make people want to be part of that brand and people will buy what they can afford from said brand. That's why Merc, BMW, Cadillac, Lincoln, Audi all have cheap luxury branded vehicles. Brand image.
  11. You just get so feisty for no reason. That's been the difficult part for GM.
  12. Like, you're going to be the internet police?
  13. Calm down there, buddy. I know it isn't the same.
  14. I don't think your car's 4 zone climate control is quite as detailed as this one sounds. I also think the OEM customizations that this thing will offer, and assuming the highest quality materials, will keep this thing above those much more conventional large luxury cars. There are EQS AMG's on dealer lots, according to Autotrader. More/bigger batteries along with more powerful motors. That's no different than dropping in a larger engine.
  15. It's a pretty awesome to benchmark. I'd probably do the same.
  16. You're probably not seeing them under their news because they're already been out and tested by the magazines. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a38697462/2022-mercedes-amg-eqs-drive/ They're probably just reaching dealerships but they're available. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=652389155&allListingType=all-cars&makeCodeList=MB&modelCodeList=MBEQSAMG&city=Highland&state=IL&zip=62249&location=&searchRadius=500&isNewSearch=false&marketExtension=include&showAccelerateBanner=false&sortBy=relevance&numRecords=25&requestId=2281868035&dma=&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fall-cars%2Fmercedes-benz%2Feqs-amg%2Fhighland-il-62249%3Fdma%3D%26searchRadius%3D500%26isNewSearch%3Dfalse%26marketExtension%3Dinclude%26showAccelerateBanner%3Dfalse%26sortBy%3Drelevance%26numRecords%3D25%26requestId%3D2281868035&clickType=listing
  17. @Davidsaid the EQS AMG wasn't a thing yet?!? ?
  18. First of all, that's Cadillac's fault for noting those in their releases. He's only talking about what Cadillac, themselves, issued for a press release. Second, Kia and Hyundai are absolutely pumping out vehicles in "24 months". GM isn't doing that either, the guy I know who works for GM says he saw this when he was first hired 2 or 3 years ago.
  19. We don't always agree but I think you nailed it on the head right here. There are a couple awesome technological advances in the climate zones and manufacturing, but the rest has been done and even by their own brands. Nobody buys a car because they found an efficient way to manufacture the vehicle.
  20. That Rolls I linked seems like a direct competitor and it doesn't have a disgusting rear 1/4 of a vehicle.
  21. Seems like a competitor was just announced/shown as well. https://www.motortrend.com/news/2024-rolls-royce-spectre-ev-first-look-review/ Those are the numbers on Merc's website, not some speculative article. I sure hope so. I mean, I understand 300 miles is plenty but for a flagship technological star, I would think 350 miles would just look better, because it isn't a race car, making insane amount of power/tq.
  22. It really doesn't seem all that ground breaking. Maybe I missed something but outside of smart glass, a cool four zone climate control, and the awesome FLEX manufacturing, it isn't doing much of anything else that isn't already out there. No trying to troll or whatnot, but I just read through this all and I really didn't read anything outside of what I mentioned above that somebody else isn't already doing. I mean, why do they need to say it has power steering, performance tires, and a five-link rear suspension? Tesla, for one, has been building a car with more power and more range for a few years already. I don't think the power figures here are a negative but I think 300 miles seems weak. Yes, yes, yes, I know Tesla is NOT in the ultra luxury segment but a car that's longer than a Escalade should have enough battery capacity for more than 300 miles. The ugly-@ss EQS AMG has 649hp/700tq, estimates 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and only 277 miles of range, 23 additional miles or range is nothing special, imo.
  23. You can continue to try and convince me but in spring of 2023, when the Hertz orders start coming in from GM, renting an EV still will not be more convenient to the renter than an old gas burner.
  24. Do vehicles get more "blah" than Merc's EVs?
  25. Yeah, you can't charge 50-70k for a vehicle with a maximum range of 227 miles with a max charge rate of 100kw. 227 miles alone keeps it off a list I'd consider. IMO, I think it'll be a couple years before Tesla really gets passed. Hyundai's/Kia's products seem great thus far but they're still really new and still only two vehicles that can compete with Tesla. They're very good but they're not something that stops on anything Tesla's doing. I'd say they appear to be on par with Tesla. Things are changing SOOOO fast. It's pretty crazy to think what the industry will look like in only five years. If you asked, "what will the auto industry look like in five years?" twenty years ago, people likely would have just said, cars will be a little quicker, a little more fuel efficient, a little larger, etc. The last year plus the next ten years, things will look drastically different than today.
