A snippet from a three way comparo that was done just three months ago. One of our test drivers described the Chevy's textured-plastic dash as "greasy and sweaty." Diehard Chevrolet fans could argue the pricier LTZ model would be a better match for the 2021 Ford F-150 Lariat and 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie we put it up against, but even the top-of-the-line Silverado High Country doesn't feel as upscale as the midlevel Ford and Ram we tested.

Then I will disagree with that because I’ve sat and driven all three (at one point). The GM design looked dated from the start and felt cheap compared to the other two and literally every review of it (that wasn’t from a pro-GM fan site) since then has backed this up. Again, I should state that I would still take the Chevy, for many reasons, over the other two but the interior was not one of those.

That interior was neither though, and that’s my point.

Nice? Sure, in some regards but not nicer than the others IMO and thats been the core gripe with this model since day one. These new interiors will include the LT models on up, leaving the older interior to the LS and work truck models, which is fine. Again, if it were priced cheaper than the than other two (all other features equal, mind you) then it probably not be such a big deal for some folks. It is not though and that is why GM finally gave it a proper update. That is not a RAM in the second pic. Still a Ford. Also the Big Horn is not their highest trim. That would be the Limited model which does include leather trimmed seats.

Nothing to be “confused” over @balthazar . I like the current Silverado over the other two, overall. However, if Chevy is going to sell a $70K High Country to compete with the Ford Platinum and King Ranch, as well as the RAM Laramie models, then it should have an equal or better interior than the other two and as of now, no objective mind would dare that the High Country has a nicer looking interior than the other two. At least Chevy had the good sense to leave the work and base models alone (for now) because it’s less of a big deal with those. The high trims, however, are a whole other matter.

The interior alone is a night and day difference over the outgoing one. It’s about time they made one that didn’t look like it came out of the Fisher Price collection.

Will Competition Destroy Tesla?
It being a four door isn’t what makes it impressive. It weighing almost 5000 lbs does IMO but still surprised it couldn’t do it faster than that. Like you said though, perspective.

The new base model Vette runs it in 7:29. 7:30 for a top of the line Tesla is embarrassing honestly. At least they have they nice 0-60 time lol. That would be a record for EVs only, for the record. Still slower than dozens of others (and sometimes cheaper) cars.

I’ll go one step further on that loss of advantage. From an MT article on the Rivian. “Once plugged in and chatting over lunch from Holly's kitchen, Rivian's staffers asked us what we thought of the R1T. "It's annoyingly good," was all we could think to say. No brand-new automaker has any right to build a vehicle this competent right off the bat. And that initial impression held true as the pavement increasingly gave way to gravel, mud, and water crossings the farther west we traveled.” https://www.motortrend.com/features/2022-rivian-r1t-exclusive-drive-review-trans-america-trail-off-road/

Even when it was a brand it was still a stretched out rebadged S-Class. However, rebadging is only an issue for him when it suits his domestic bashing arguments.
-

@smk4565 And just skip the fact that Maybach was just a rebadged S Class.

Will Competition Destroy Tesla?
Funny. You’ve never used that same criticism towards Audi and their rebadged VWs. Hell, even the Porsche Cayenne is a rebadged Touareg. You do understand that it also applies to your favorite maker right? Meanwhile, your favorite pushed out a jellybean low demand sedan before they even announced a much higher demand CUV or SUV.

Funny how you don’t use that same excuse regarding the MDX outselling the GLE. Fanboy logic, I guess. It’s really simple actually. Lincoln does not market them heavily enough against the foreign competition. It has more to do with that than it does “brand snobbery” (although that is a concern, as your endless slamming of domestics indicates).
-
Will Competition Destroy Tesla?
Oh; no, no, no. Those other 8 SUVs "don't compete" with the 'glossed-over honda", you have very tight class divisions. It's MDX vs GLE. CLEARLY the Acura is better than the mercedes... because; sales Exactly my point but beware. More bar moving coming soon

Will Competition Destroy Tesla?
Guess this also makes Lexus better than Mercedes since, once again, you have decided that volume matters. Just a damn joke at this point. Back to how this affects Tesla…

Will Competition Destroy Tesla?
And only ONE midsize CUV which outsells the ONE midsize Mercedes CUV. FFS man. Just stop the damn excuses and accept that Mercedes does not win at everything. It would save a tone of space and waste here. And I quote (from one article). “Both luxury midsize SUVs offer great engine choices, awesome AWD configurations, and comfortable rides. The team at KBB favored the 2020 Acura MDX for its standard V6 engine, high reliability and resale value, and its lower price.” But of course the Mercedes fanboy thinks the Mercedes is better. What was that you said earlier about credibility?

It must truly truly suck to keep going back and forth between sales mattering and sales not mattering. He only said the product was competitive, with no mention of sales figures. A fact that he fails to point out because there is no way an Acura is better than a Mercedes in his fanboy eyes.

Suuuure you are, now that you realize that they sell in that high of a percentage under $50K. You have fought that notion, tooth and nail for years now but again, you have that bar to move so… So they are, in fact, a volume brand now (yet another notion that you have fought for years)? Which shows that people are dumb to buy an overpriced CUV with Lincoln inspired derivative exterior design. Noticed you have no counter for that rather lazy design on such a pricey EV just because it says “Maybach”. Honestly, it is pretty laughable right now.

They don’t have YOUR credibility and clearly you don’t count since you have made it abundantly clear that it’s German or nothing even when the German garbage. It clearly matters to you because you have repeatedly touted their high ATPs even when it’s not, relative to the competition. Just skip the part where the $145K models represent probably less than 1% of their overall sales. It CLEARLY matters to you. Stop pretending otherwise.

And that’s my point. They are direct competitors while being vastly different in size and price range, which runs counter to his little narrative that the EQS should not be compared to the Tesla Model S for those very same reasons. It should be noted that the Slade is four inches wider than the GLS.

Will Competition Destroy Tesla?
Probably a little bit of both.

Will Competition Destroy Tesla?
Again let me correct this for you German auto fan. “All the foreign AND domestics will have big line ups of EV’s” Because, as I’m sure you are aware, the Germans are not the only ones with multiple EVs coming out.

See my above response and rethink your statement. Wasn’t it you that was touting the near $130K Model S Plaid not so long ago?
