Can Y'all Say Savannah, GA?
Savannah is one of the nicest cities in the US to live in if you have money, from what I hear. Will be a real change of pace from Delaware. Can't get more old south than Savannah. Chris

What Cars Should Chrysler Dump?
Perhaps the best way to dump Chryselr products would be to rent the Cougar Ace (the ship that capsized in the Pacific with the Mazdas on board) Cut a big ass hole in the side and repeat the Mazda thing, only fill the ship with Chrysler products instead. Agree on the Nitto and Compass, as well as the ugly, ugly Caliber. Ditto on Crossfire, Pacifica, commander, Aspen, Durango, etc. And yes, kill the damned Sebring Also. Preferably as soon as possible. September 2007 Sales: Toyota Motor Corporation
Nor should it. Toyotas marketing people really missed the boat on that one. Chris

Auto sales likely to be down industry-wide
The general economy is still weak, and I expect to see further slides in sales. Glad to see the general is holding flat. Chris

Who's Side Are You On? UAW Strike 07.
Again, quoted for truth but in reality gm is not going to get rid of the UAW. Not gonna happen. Chris

Still think there is no such thing as Global Warming?
Look at it this way...if we are wrong (and global warming is a hoax) and we take action, it is at worst an inconvenience. If global warming is true and we take no action, we could become extinct as a species. I'd rather take action than become extinct. Chris

A-T-L-A-N-T-A
Used to drive by the Doraville plant every day when I lived in Atlanta. I moved back to Columbus Ohio mainly because of Traffic, noise and the cost of commuting. The job I had was as an electrical foreman and I was expected to be able to work anywhere in the metro area, from Douglasville to Villa Ricca to Gainsville to Peachtree City to wherever...so commuting wa a huige problem. If I could live in one part of Atlanta and work there (like live/work Peachtree city area, etc,) I would live in Atlanta in a minute. Georgia is probably the most under-rated state in the country...lived briefly in Augusta and almost moved again to Savannah. When I die one of the great regrets of my life will be that I never stayed in Georgia. That being said, Atlanta has its downsides. A huge unasimilated Hispanic population, traffic, the cost of decent housing inside of the outerbelt, public schools as a general rule are not that good (although a few are excellent). Upsides would be great professional sports, eight million great places to eat out, Chastain park is beautiful, people are friendly, winters are mild... Just my two cents on the place... Chris

Rock the Iroc
Glad to see that nice IROC ragtop, mighty mouse. Figure I should have about 6 to 8 thou saved by spring and I am looking/checking out the market now. I've seen a million beaten to death Camaro's of the third gen flavor come up for sale but very few really nice cars. Chris

GM-UAW Contract Negotiation Updates
Getting rid of the UAW is a fantasy at this point, boys. Besides, if the union did go and wages were cut to the level people want them cut to, there would be bad blood between the work force and GM for decades. Chris

Rock the Iroc
How hard is it to find decent third gen camaro's that haven't been destroyed or rusted to death...talking about maybe a V-8 Manual car... Chris

My 2008 Accord Impressions
Color is nice, but I am with Fly, I don't like the styling. Chris

Giving Car Buying Advice
HHR lightly used Mini lightly used previous gen Civic SI would be a hatch, keep its value, and handle well. Astra Don't like much else that has been suggested. Chris

Odd Kappa facts
...although unlike the Fiero GM did this car right. I can hardly wait for depreciation to kick in so I can buy a GXP Solstice for about 20k in pristine used condition. Right now they are still holding their value to well used. Chris

Hyundai dubs Buick, Cadillac, Saturn "so-called 'American'"
This is just pathetic. I'd never buy a hyundai. Alas, the Korean bastards seem to be able to sell well to female buyers for some reason. Chris

2006 Malibu Maxx LT V6
I do love the color on that. And yes, it was a good idea, too bad they didn't sell as well as they should have. Chris

TOO SEXY TO FLY?
+1 on the Muslim thing. I don't see anything wrong with the way she was dressed. Chris

Consumer Reports finds a great big "DUH!"
Depends. I figure that it costs me about a thousand bucks to run a car 10,000 miles given repair-depreciation-tires-etc. Everything but gas and insurance. A new Aura or Cobalt could do that, or a twenty year old Impala could do that. I think the key is to drive a car beyond the first few years of its life. Although I am like you, I've owned over 20 cars and only one was new. But cars are getting more complicated and I am kind of thinking about buying my next car new just because so much can go wrong to one of the newer-more complicated cars if it is abused IMHO. That and I fantasixe about being able to go back in History and buy a 63 Split window or a ram air 69 Firebird new. Chris

August 2007: Toyota Motor Corporation
The TC isn't a bad car, but it is like the Tibron and is actually built on a sedan chasis. Drive a TC and a Civic Si back to back and it is no competition. Granted the SI is 3-4 thousand more, but the TC is not an actual "sports car." Lots of little things (Handleling, the way it shifts, not as smooth as a Civic or even a Cobalt, slightly awkward interior, fuel economy in the real world does not match Cobalt SS or Civic S, etc.) put it out of the class of being "desireable" IMHO.
