What's most important to you...?
1) V8 - very few exceptions 2) RWD/ AWD/4WD - no exceptions 3) Performance - what type and how much depend on the vehicles purpose. 4) Styling - I tend to like the unique (popular or not), it has to be interesting in some way. This area is wide open as diverse styles appeal to me. Interior is a postscript, not even close to making or breaking a deal. It also depends on the reason I am buying the car/truck. Much less important than other concerns and not at all on some cars.

Best First Car
My first car cost $150.00, and I paid for it. I can't imagine buying a new car for a first time driver.

LS1-7 for older cars
Thanks Decka, I did find that site. There has to be an aftermaket company specializing in these conversions.

What Does Everyone Drive?
My vote doesn't tell the story but I gave it to Pontiac this time. 02 Firehawk 04 GTO 05 Silverado HD 85 Maserati Those are the ones on the road right now.

Looks like I called this one. Hope it works out for you, too bad you didn't find the right ImpalaSS.

Hood ornaments
If done well, they really add to the look of a car and speak to the pride the builders take in it. The old stand-up Benz emblem is the best example.

An Icon Departs
You're joking, right? GTO was immortalized in song, credited with being the first of the musclecars, is one of the most collectible nameplates ever and was part and parcel of the culture of its day. I think you need to check the definition of iconic.

A few of our cars...
Those are my kind of Camaros! I also love the '73. I once had a '70 1/2 RS/SS but it never looked that good.

GTO was no sales flop: the business case for the car was based on Monaro sales alone which were only a third plus or minus the number of GTO sales. GM did just fine with this car. For what you get, it was a bargain at full sticker price- the car really is that good. Oh and check out the review scores it gets at edmunds.com - you might be surprised.

Best First Car
I have to nominate my first car. A 1966 Dodge Coronet 440 Station wagon. " Cream of Wheat" power steering, touchy drum brakes, anemic 273 V8, Big as a house, Bias ply "maypops" and non-functional HVAC/defrost. Talk about a learning curve! I became an expert on replacing drum brakes in a hurry and learned a ton about general auto mechanics courtesy of this car. PWIGS (Pics when I get scanner)

Best City Car
Bit off-topic but, my favorite car to take downtown was my '82 Olds Toronado. It just seemed to belong there( this was in the early 90's). It was big enough, comfortable, too old to be stolen, too ugly to vandalize, too inexpensive for me to worry about, and too invisible for the cops to take notice when I was "out late". I called it my "Urban Camoflage" . I'll post some pics when I get a scanner.

Sales of big pickups are beginning to stall
Could well be. GM could claim that title if it wanted by combining Chevy and GMC sales. I always thought it was a mistake not to do that and let Ford have the best-selling title.
