Talking about HOT cars... I saw a 90's Tacoma, that got rear-ended by an 80's Tacoma, the latter of which was engulfed in flames!

New, as in a year or so off, right? It's actually not that big a deal to me, but would be nice to have (especially since New Mexico doesn't have much to offer as far as FM radio stations go). I'll have to weigh my options to see if I can wait for the new small cars, or get into a short term (~2 year) commitment to what's available now.

I finally figured out what's going on... the thread I was thinking about was for the VW Rabbit. I have seen a few numbers for the Astra (on True Delta) that show mpg in the low 30's for mostly highway driving. The reason I stopped considering the Astra is because no Bluetooth or iPod/auxInput for 2009. This usually wouldn't be a big deal, except that the Cobalt has the auxiliary connection, and will get Bluetooth, and is a bit cheaper (though doesn't have the capacity/capabilities of the 5 door, or 4-wheel disc). So, now I'm back to looking at the Astra, Cobalt and maybe the Jetta TDI. Does anyone (maybe PCS) know if the Astra can have iPod/auxiliary jack easily installed? I once read that the reason for not having it is because the stereo only has one "free" input, and it's used for OnStar.

When? Sooner then the new Cobalt? Based on thegriffon's post from the Cobalt spyshots thread (see below)... I don't think I'll be able to wait for the Cobalt, but something (much) sooner would be good.

I want to believe that it gets 35+ mpg, but whatever I have found online says it's tough to get. Even worse, it sounds like the high revs at higher speeds really hurts mpg above 70 mph. (I'd be more than happy if somebody could find data to the contrary.) (About a month ago I found a blog somewhere that was dedicated to people posting real world mpg figures. Now, for the life of me, I can't find it and it's pissing me off!)

Weight savings of not having the leather wrapped dash?

I used to take the Camaro every 3,000 miles. But, after my last oil change the technician (assuming he noticed my oil was still in good condition) actually bumped it up to 5,000. I thought that was pretty cool!

Sort of in the same boat here. I'm not getting rid of the SS, but near-future plans suggest I'll need something economical and cheap, and that I won't mind driving in less favorable weather conditions. Here are some of my observations... Astra 5 door: sold on looks and packaging, price is not bad after some GM discounts (recent grad etc.), can live with performance but mpg drops a lot after 65 mph Cobalt coupe 1LT: looks good with sport appearance package (and gains some key features), good real world mpg, cheapest of my bunch, don't mind the interior Mini: gets pricey with options, good mpg, requires premium HHR: like a cooler version of a Cobalt wagon, mpg drops slightly but price rises a bit vs. Cobalt Rabbit: can be had cheap, mpg is so so, can I really live with one after driving my brothers GTI(?) Jetta TDI: normally wouldn't consider the Jetta but can't overlook TDI, awesome mpg, price difference between regular and diesel isn't that big anymore (about 50 cents) so can live with that, on the more expensive side of my list but would try to keep it longer (really wish we had a Rabbit TDI) Top this off with recent news about a new small Chevy, and a possible early release of the new Camaro (I know I shouldn't even be considering it, but it's so hard to resist!) and my decisions just get harder!

Let's think about this from the other side of the coin. Wouldn't it have been much worse if they didn't pull them ahead, at which point the investment in the 900s would have still been made, but they would have spent less time on the market and sold less? So... the way I look at it, they made the most money out of the 900s that they could have.

Agreed! Especially the one on the far left, in black. She deserves to be photographed with a much better F-Body then that. In fact, she would do just fine without anything in the background!

Any information would be appreciated. Maybe one of the insiders would like to spill the beans? Anyway, I'm most curious as to when it will be in dealerships, and if I can wait that long.

Aren't you being a little harsh? Sure it's hard to tell if it's for real or just his proposal, but I think he knows what he is talking about when it comes to powertrains and he made an interesting post. I'll take these (his) types of topics/posts over some other "crap" any day. By the way... how about you trim your signature a bit?
