  1. The accusation about injured workers not being compensated is likely exaggerated. But I'm almost 100% positive Toyota recycles a lot of temp workers, with very few non-management positions being truly full-time. But the fact that employees are disgruntled enough for stories like this to exist is more of a point than whether or not they get exaggerated (as things tend to do when transmitted by word of mouth).
  2. Well, Toyota wouldn't have to pay the worker's comp anyway. If they're temp, any benefits they may or may not get are paid by the temp agency Toyota uses. But on that note, does that law apply to temp workers the same way as it does to regular full-time? I'm not saying that everything they said was 100% accurate. The real point I was trying to make is that Toyota certainly isn't being fair to some of its workers, to the point that they have the attention of the Office of Employment and Training.
  3. I'm just passing along what they were talking about.
  4. Man, the majority of cars from the 80s and early 90s were SO UGLY.
  5. You are so unbelievably petty.
  6. Personally I don't care about Nav, would NEVER (had I the choice) get one in a car. Don't need it, would never use it.
  7. Well see, it doesn't matter the number of sales. If percentage of sales determined whether or not a car had a certain option, there would be A LOT of things cars wouldn't be available with. Manual transmissions for one. It matters because if, say Car and Driver, does a comparo of optioned-out models they get so much more with an Accord or Camry than they do with an Aura or Malibu. GM needs to option for the impression it gives for the vehicle, not just for the sales it would garner.
  8. I don't like the hood scoops either. Tacky.
  9. Indeed. They need to get with the program. If Mazda can offer it in the Mazda 3, GM can offer it in all their small and mid-size cars as well.
  10. Needs a nav option though.
  11. This does look really damn good, though.
  12. Yeah, I'd imagine the production will actually have an interior. Otherwise, there would be some very surprised and/or upset 2008 Accord buyers.
  13. Well, you KNOW that the Accord's interior quality will be top notch. And I'm with you about the Malibu's interior. I mean, I really really really hope GM managed to do it 120% right, but I just can't see them besting the Accord.
  14. Thats it! I'm gonna shoot up the entire design and engineering team for the new Camaro... Wait...scratch that, I actually don't give a $h! about the B-pillar.
  15. It'll make nice competition for the Malibu, I think. One thing that I noticed is that the door seems to be a little short, looks odd.
  16. Have you seen it? Its right before N Broadway on the outer loop.
  17. Whats really funny about this story is that right off New Circle Road in Lexington Toyota has a billboard ad with the new Camry that says "Thank You, Kentucky" on it.
  18. Not sorted out, everyone has to go to an eligibility review every 6 weeks when you draw UI. A special few have to go to the class I had to attend yesterday. And I worked at CompUSA.
  19. So I had to go to a group eligibility review for my UI benefits yesterday along with 6 other people. During the class, someone was asking about temp work and how it affected drawing unemployment etc. To make a long story short, an older lady behind me (probably in her late 50s) was talking about people she knew that worked temp work for Toyota for up to 2-3 years and then being told that there were not being hired. The lady over the class said that its becoming a problem with the Georgetown plant, Toyota will hire a load of temp workers, telling them that they may get hired after the temp work is done, but really they just keep recycling temp workers. People will work for Toyota for months or a couple years without benefits, including worker's comp. People are injured on the job and either have to stop working or work while injured since they aren't full-time benefited employees. She actually said she was disappointed in Toyota's hiring practices and mentioned the talk of the plant unionizing because of this mistreatment of workers. Just a little anecdotal story from Camry land.
  20. FORD!! More specifically, Ford NA.
  21. I feel that.
  22. Speaking of which, anyone have an idea of WHEN the 2008 MCE will be revealed?
  23. OH! Phew! Well, at least they're not abandoning the compact tuner market. Though that means that I'll definitely be buying used since I'm sure the SS/TC will be $2-3k more than the Supercharged was.
  24. Looks like they're still working on it. Some things don't seem to want to load, like the Chop Shop.
  25. Uh, why did the SS/SC get deleted?! :angry2:
