The 350Z isn't exactly a minivan either. Repair wise, the electrical stuff was covered under warranty and has been fine since. I'd have to check the receipts for the exact costs, but I remember the clutch being over $3,000 and being told it was the first non-S they had seen blow a clutch before 100k. The windshields ran a few hundred and new tires were over a grand. Driving like a non-idiot will prevent you from having to pay out for the new clutch or windshield and tires can be as cheap as you'd like them to be.

Ignore for a second the drive wheels and consider that ten grand will get you into a Mini Cooper with between 60-100,000 miles of my quick glance at cars.com is correct. Ours had some demons early on but has been reliable since, unless you count my wife destroying the clutch. Great mileage, its a coupe and a hoot to drive. At least check one out, you might be surprised.

    Congrats!
  5. I don't even recall the GC being sold with a diesel in the states. I could see at least attempting a Compass or Patriot diesel to market against the Jetta and A3.
  6. Someone needs to take the lead on diesels for small/midsize SUVs. They can be more than just loud, dirty engines for douchebags who never tow or haul anything heavier than a keg in their F-350.

I saw a black Volt the other day. Pretty nice looking. And about 11 seconds after getting off the plane I saw a Maserati TC that looked beat to hell.
  8. We've heard this before, I hope it finally happens for real

Beck calls everyone a Nazi, he would probably call Churchill a Nazi.

I recall suggesting a 350Z long, long ago.
  16. Short of spinning Corvette off and making it a separate brand, I don't see many ways of making it mote accessible. A full line with the Corvette, smaller Corvette, Corvette sedan, Corvette wagon, Corvette compact hatch and Corvette minivan might make the Corvette something everyone can buy.

First, congrats on Tue awesome ride. Second, thanks for hopping on to C&G for the mileage update. Third, please keep us updated. I do have a question, have you had passengers, and if so how's room? I haven't checked a Volt out yet, but its on the short list for cars a couple years from now.

Eating cheap can be very satisfying. I can live off peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, not out of cutting back, but due to the sheer awesomeness of PB&J. There are certain things that off brands can't match, like Spicy Nacho Doritos, those things are fantastic.
